Weight of extra skin
Hi everyone. I was just wondering if they take into account the extra skin that you can get with weight lose. Iv lost 62kg and I have lots of extra skin, I'm seeing my plastic sergen next week and I plan to ask aprox how much that would weigh. I'm also having breast implants in 2 weeks, unfortunately before re feed. They weight 800grams.

I know this is a strange question but iv stuck like glue to my program and iv only lost 1kg in the past month. I'm thinking I might to closer than I think to refeed. I'm 6kg from goal.

Hi Fluffy

Firstly - well done on your incredible weightloss journey! 62kg is a whole person that you have 'lost'!

Secondly - I can understand that you must be getting eager to get all of this over with now, but I suspect that you 'only lost 1kg' in the past month because your body is reshaping. I've often heard of Cohenites' skin that continue to reshape and bounce back into place up to a year into maintenance.

You will have to let your clinic help you with that. It is quite possible that you've already reached refeed-weight, and that your excess skin is 2 - 6kg's, so you may very well be refeed-able, but you will really need to discuss with your clinic. Also, having surgery (anesthetics) will also affect your plan, so it is imperative that you discuss this with your clinic. I've also heard in very rare cases, that the doctor/clinic allows some people to do a mini-refeed when they need to interrupt their plan for a short while, and then continue if it proves to be necessary.

Good luck though, and do let us know how it all turns out!

Thanks :) A mini refeed would be great. I will ask them about it. Sadly iv already seen the sergen about the extra skin ( I could tip over it) it's gone to far to fix itself.

Amazing losses! I would think that your skin would have trouble springing back too. Good luck with your clinic

Re: Weight of extra skin
Hello everyone

I am based in New Zealand. Just a question: I am a kg away from my goal weight and I have a real bad lower backache and am hungry all the time and very very tired. Is this normal? I have received my refeed but not sure if I should wait until I am at my goal weight. Would appreciate any advice please. Also I am going on a 4-week holiday with my family to the US and Canada in a couple of days. I think going on a refeed will be extremely hard as I won't be able to weigh my food. I was just going to guess the portions and perhaps add a modest amount of protein and veggies to the meals I currently have so I have the energy to cope. I was then going to come back and go back on my diet for about a month (or as long as required) and then go on a refeed. Does that make sense? Please do let me have your ideas or perhaps better options that I could look into. Many thanks in advance. Rose

Re: Weight of extra skin
I think you should be careful with your skin after weight loss.

You may want to consider that one day you will gain weight again because of different reasons. Some reasons or things you just can`t control (ex: emergencies, traveling, temporary diseases that take long to cure, etc.)
What`s your condition now with the skin?
The weight of matter which the skin is made of can't compare with the weight to the layers of fat that skin is supporting.
I've seen that the skin on my body (mainly on the abdomen/belly) was pretty elastic and soft when I had 20 Kg more than my ideal weight. Also, as I keep my weight daily, I did not find any differences in skin weight from 2013-2018. But, I do not really know your condition because everyone is different.
