Default Help My hair is falling out!

Help my hair is falling out, anyone hear of anything in regard to thinning hair or hair loss the Cohen diet ? There is definately less hair on my head it has been falling out for 2 weeks now

Most likely however it is due to the long fever I had with Rubella last month. Browsing the internet it seems that fever can cause a rapid loss of hair and then (I really hope so) regrowth. Internet also warns of hair loss and "crash diets".

Slim and gray is OK, Slim and bald is not what I had in mind! (Men on both sides of the family in my family go gray rather than bald, unless I am the first!)

Default Help My hair is falling out!

My hair has got a lot thinner, seemingly, while I have been on the programme, so I'd best not mutter the phrase "it's old age creeping in", hadn't I

I don't know whether it's co-incidental or not, but my hair used to be REALLY thick, like rope, now it's 'normal'.

I like the look of bald men. Much better than the thinning hair look. I think baldness is a positive.

But then I've always been different it would seem.

Imagine the hat collection!!

Default Help My hair is falling out!

I saw my hairdresser last week, he has a friend who has also been on the plan and says that hairloass is due to the 'shock' our bodies are going through, ie change of diet, rapid weight loss, etc. He also said that it isn't permanent and that the body will recover (hairwise) down the track. I've noticed a lot of hair on the bathroom floor and in the shower, luckily I have a lot of hair so it isn't a major problem for me at this point.

Default Help My hair is falling out!

I mault like crazy usually, but I have noticed more hair loss than usual (I have curly hair, so it doesn't really come out until I wash my hair).

My partner had some thinning LF. He's eating Cohen foods in normal servings (to support me). Guess any kind of rapid loss has to take it's toll somehow.

Default Hairloss??

Hi All,
Just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone has noticed same thing?? Now dont all panic, but I have noticed a dramatic thinning of my hair over the last month, It seems to be more noticable, as I had a month off Cohen, but was strict 100% up to that time (16 weeks) now coming home and back on the programme, but yeah, really noticing the hair loss at blow drying time???????? anybody else?????????????????

My hair went to about a third of it's thickness through the first few months of this year. I'd already been on Cohens for 6 months, by then, it had thinned a little on the programme, and that was Ok, but in April-ish this year, it all but fell out. I was worried for a bit that it'd go, entirely.

It did, however, co-incide with being in court with my ex-husband, so I attributed it largely to stress. I must say, I think the stress alone wouldn't have done it, nor would the cohens alone, but the two together nearly sent me bald!

It is, however, growing back now.

This is an interesting topic, I hadnt heard about it before. I've only been on the program 3 1/2wks and havent noticed any hair loss or thinning (prob too early), but like Anniem I've definantly noticed it looks dull...

I too noticed the hair loss. I thought Dang turning 51 was not such a good thing. My hair is falling out. But then I read where a few others were having the same thing happen. So hopefully it will come back once I get more protien in my diet when i am finished. Should I go bald well then i will match Mr. Ha we'll be a matched pair.

Hi Swannee,

I was on this program few months ago and I managed to shed about 9 kg in 2 months..I was thrilled and happy and all that. However, to my horror, I started to notice my hair falling out soon after. It was so bad that my mum who clears my room everyday got worried when she looks at the amount of hair on my bedroom floor.

I dunno about you, but what;s the use of slimming down, when you are going to be bald? I was terrified and worried sick when the conditions did not improve after 1 month. And I am still in my 20s and no such problem before till I got on this plan. In the end I thought i just have to seek professional help. Went to the dermatologist and was diagnosed that the hair loss was caused by the diet. I thought maybe I was just unlucky that my body is different since many people here had slimmed down via cohen and not complained about hair loss. But apparently, I am not the only one.

Anyway, I heed doctor's advice to eat normally ( meaning with carbo and such) and gained back 5 kg within 1 month. But it took 3 months before I can see my hair condition improved slightly...Doctor say abt 6 months's needed for the hair to grow out to the original
thickness. I am sad that this plan eventually do not work for me. It's either SLIM with NO hair or FAT with shiny hair. I chose the later...

Your hair will come back I was just having a bit of fun with you. I have talked to lots of people that lost some hair while on this program and when they got done and was slim the hair came back normal. It may take a while but it will grow back. asy was one of the ones and look how long she was on program.

Just to put it out there, there are a couple of things that I have heard are very nutritional for hair (and my hair seems to react well to them):
- regularly rubbing on almond oil: Massage it through the scalp, and then pull your fingers through your hair, let it sit for as long as you can.
-putting raw egg through your hair (a bit yuck) - but it smells better if you mix it with some other things, like nettle juice, essential oils
- taking silica (don't know if this is cohen's approved, my mum is getting me some, I have been meaning to ask my clinic)
-taking udo's oil (my clinic has approved this) - it is a blend of flaxseed, sesame seed and sunflower oil

cheers,
Tam

My dad recently started losing hair - too much time in the pool with chlorinated water. So my mum purchased some coconut oil and rubs it in each night. It has certainly made a difference.

Mum got the idea when my grandmother was going through chemo and her hair started falling out. It worked for her too.

Hope it works for you!

I have actually experienced the opposite...... my hair and nails are thicker and stronger than they have ever been. My hair has also gone curly, although I expect that's a result of hair dye rather than Cohens. and its growing faster than ever. its probably grown at least 3" in the past year.

I am having the same experience as heavenlylamb. My hair is shiny and silky. I had my hair done on Monday and my hairdresser commented on how nice it was looking. She said in her experience with clients that have done Cohens that they have the complete opposite effect. I must be one of the lucky ones.

Default Hair

I have just heard of this site and wish I had found it before. My journey is nearing the end and refeed will be in 6kg time.( so far 37Kg lost)
Not before xmas/holidays as planned but i will deal with that as best I can.
My question is has anyone else noticed that their hair has suffered during the programme.
i would be interested to hear if others have found their hair is dry and brittle
thanks Wendy

Hiya Wendy,

There are quite a few posts somewhere about hair, I remember having the discussion AGES ago...

At least I think there were... I'm so tired tonight I may be hallucinating...

Anyway, yeah, my hair not only got brittle, but lots of it fell out. It got REALLY thin. I'm happy to report, though, that, 6 months later, it's almost back to 'normal'.
