Default Migraines - anyone gettng more of them?

I was driving home from work last night when a migraine came on. As there was nowhere to stop I had to carry on and luckily got home before my vision totally went. Then wierdly when I took my shoes off my heels were really sensitive - it's like I was walking on cartilage. They're OK today but I feel a little delicate.

I was tired yesterday so it's probably that, but this is the second migraine I've had since doing Cohens (prior to this it's been one every coouple of years). Just looked it up and one of the theories is a serotonin imbalance.

Anyone else had more migraines?

I get them heaps. I have always suffered from head-aches, but these are full on debilitating migranes. My only advise for a cure is find a dark room, cold wash cloth behind the neck and head ache pills the moment you can feel it coming on
As to what causes it? Im not exactly sure. I am booked in friday to the GP. He is the best one to give reasons why it might be happening

As LGs says the best place for this discussion is with your doctor
rates of migraine vary with age stress etc and individual responses and thus treatments will vary
cheers

Not really about treatment. I don't get them often (usually) and they don''t last long.

Just wondered if other people were getting them more frequently.

I've had migraines most of my life, though I am lucky that I know what triggers them and I know the signs of my migraine and can usually catch it before it gets too far. Not had any problem with migraine since starting Cohen's (4 weeks as of today).... though I think that is more because one major trigger for my migraines is lack of sleep, and with this diet I have had better quality of sleep!

I'm so glad I found this thread! I suffer from migraines and this is one of the things I'm really worried about with starting Cohen's (starting this weekend). I've never figured out what triggers my migraines, have gone to the docs to try and work it out to no success. I got told to take asprin every day (as it thins your blood) but obviously a bad idea if you are on other medication affected by asprin or are allergic. Definitely see your GP if you keep getting them. I don't take it now as I hate the taste of it...but like LGS said...dark room etc etc has always been the best way I've dealth with them.

It will be interesting to see if they increase or decrease on Cohen's...I'm hoping for decrease

Kirst

Hi Kirst,

Not sure I can help, but I'm all for trying anyway.... (as you'll find )

Many years back, I heard of a "possible" remedy - wife was never keen to check it out, but, when you are in migraine territory, I guess I can understand. Lucky me, I have the odd headache, but don't recall having had migraines at all.

Anyway, to the "remedy" The word I heard was to ground yourself, by putting your hands into the garden - pull out a few weeds, etc. Since I'd also heard that weather can bring on migraines (too many positive ions?) there might well be a natural cure too.

Will it work? Hmm, don't ask me - but, try it, then you can TELL me if it did, or didn't....

This literally made me laugh out loud...but...hey I'm totally for trying ANYTHING that would get my migraines to go away! I can only imagine the hilarious sight of me with my hands in the garden trying to get rid of a migraine but by geez if it works I'll do it...LOL!

Thanks for the 'tip'
Kirst

Yep, I totally understand the mirth - except for the fact that if positive ions in the air can affect us, why wouldn't "grounding" our bodies have a good effect. e.g. think of static electricity, and its effect on us.

So, hey, Kirst, I'd LOVE to hear whether it does/doesn't work for you.

Maybe you don't even need to "do the gardening". Maybe all you need to do is to touch the ground (lie on the ground, dig your fingers into the ground). The reason "walking on the ground" doesn't do it, is because many shoes are made with rubber soles, thus we DON'T ground ourselves just by walking.

During and after cohens I suffered no bad headaches at all (never had my bad headaches diagnosed as migraines) - prior to cohens suffered maybe 6-7 debilitating headaches a year. One of the reasons I'm back on my original program (apart from needing to lose some weight) is that the headaches were starting to return.
