Red face Going all the way to Maintenance

Hi All

As I did not find this forum until now, my Diary starts from week 5 but will do a quick recount of events from Day 1 - Tues 25/6/13.

My name is Sandi and live in Cairns (anyone else from FNQ) this is the second time on Cohens, first time about 15 yrs ago and didn't get to refeed, resources much better this time round. This time round much more focused and motivated and with a new plan (with better weight portions too). So tried to lose weight and lost about 15 kgs (by cutting out all sugar n carbs) and got stuck on about 74 kgs, so put on the gloves and resigned with Cohens as I knew it worked. Had no problems with day 1 to 4 but day 5 ...I came down with what I thought was a chest infection so have had no energy which is definitely not what happens on Cohens (so it was just as we'll I knew from last time you should have heaps of energy) so headed to the drs last week only to find I have legionaries ....anyway now I have a reason for the fatigue.....so even though I have been weighing myself regularly my 4 week weigh in was 5.0 kgs and a total cm loss of 34cm and have had to buy new work clothes 2 sizes smaller already. Was expecting better weight loss but am now happy just to go with the flow. So tomorrow is week 6 so hope to keep up with 1kg per week....fingers crossed. Sorry for the long entry but its 5 weeks of entries in one.......also thanks for the warm welcome and words of encouragement received in the new members section....loving the motivation this forum provides.

Hey Sandi!

Not that your weight loss was anything to complain about, but it might have been slightly lower due to sickness... So just keep plugging away!!

Hope you're feeling better

Oh and your post was soooooo not long! haha. Sometimes I have to cut my posts in 2 because I exceed the word limit! This girl knows how to babble on! hahaha

Hi to all my new and very determined and motivated friends

Thanks Caz, Bommie and Lil_dol, for your encouraging words and warm welcome, feeling supported by you all already and now don't feel that my first dairy effort was so bad after all.

Well week 5 and 6 have been and gone and sort of lost track of time with all the medical tests etc and have just reviewed the last 2 weeks and although results were not great I'm much more relaxed about it than I would have been in the first month...
so week 5 was 0.8 kg loss and 7.5 cms and .....
Week 6 was 0.3kg loss and 4cm ...
So the positives are.... I still lost weight and there was no gain......I still lost cm.....and off my waist n hips which is always a great place to lose it....I'm still sticking to the plan 100% ( but I accidentally used soy sauce thinking it was balsamic...so make that one again) and have done so since day 1, still drinking at least 2.4 ltrs of water every day since day 1, Im already in size 12 clothes - 2 sizes down, they do say do monthly weighs ....on that department I've graduated from daily to weekly.
So now to focus on week 7, still fatigued due to the legionnaires so goal is to do 3 walks to the beach this week, continue to stay 100% on the ep and with water and loose no matter how small as its all a step in the right direction
So that's it for the diary this week, onward and downward with weight for next week

Cheers Sandi

Hi Sandi, welcome! and what fantastic progress. I've been weighing weekly and I must say it works for me. Not too long to wait, and provided you are OP 100% all you see is losses, however big or small (I don't think I could cope with seeing a fluctuation upwards). You are doing great, so keep going

Hi Sandi!

I am too stingy to use a fruit with my meals, but I have graduated to having a "sprite zero spider" for breakfast using yoghurt and a bit of sprite zero in a glass (I don't use much - maybe 100ml liquid? I just pour a bit in and keep the bottle out in case I need more. I find it is fine as a breakfast meal - albeit a bit fizzy first thing - but I find I can eat almost any kind of food in the morning.

Hope that helps!

Hi and welcome!

Well done on your losses so far

I have my yoghurt with one kiwifruit and a little bit of cinnamon every morning and I find it beautiful. I don't mind using one kiwifruit because my consultant told me that it says one kiwifruit 160g but that's equivalent to 2 kiwifruits once you take the skin off.

So I have one with breakfast, then an apple for morning tea then my other kiwifruit for afternoon tea.

We are totally twins LD!

But yeah, I have in the past halved a fruit serving so I can use it in a meal - but hardly ever use a full fruit in a meal - except for Collie days (yoghurt as the evening meal with my second fruit serving and crackers) or if I have been too busy on a weekend day to eat my fruit at a snack time.

I really enjoy experimenting with food - whilst it does suck when you get it wrong (and boy have I stuffed it sometimes) I eat it and learn but more often than not I have a great array of things that are delicious and fun to make.

Hope it goes well for you!

I had a spider this morning - hope you liked it if you tried it! The first time I tried it I just used 20gm yog and a bit of sprite to see if it was horrible or not.

Welcome Sandi,

No mangos in the shops at the moment down here, but when there is, I love a yoghurt, mango and dash of sprite smoothie blended in the blender. Comes out as a thick smoothie (if you don't put too much sprite in) and in summer, I add some ice to make it super cool.

Keep up the great losses

hey sandi welcome and hope you're feeling better

i have a quarter of an apple thinly sliced on top of my morning yoghurt. it is just lovely especially if it is a sweet apple (like a fuji).

i also like sprinkling a bit of instant coffee on top of the yoghurt. the combination of the bitter coffee and sweet apple go perfectly with the yoghurt
