Exclamation Raw vs. Cooked weight

Hi all. Ok having an issue which I hope you can perhaps help with. Hubby, bess his soul, bought a whole pack of fresh raw chicken fillets. He then proceeded qnd oven baked the whole lot in the oven. Cohen friendly except that nothing was pre-weighed. So instead of throwing it out do you think there is a "conversion" for raw to cook weight? A quick search on the internet showed something like 100g raw = 80g cooked.

That has been my experience when I weighed chicken pre and post cooking --> 100gm raw = 80gm cooked.

So, would that mean... your allowance minus 20% is the cooked weight?? (sorry my brain is mushy today).

Obviously this wouldn't be something to do often though. Would the same figure work for meat or fish?

I would want to test other proteins before using it as a rule - but I was interested as I was using myfitnesspal to log calories (back when I thought that it mattered, and that I knew better than the good doctor) and then I suddenly wondered if the categories I was using were raw or cooked......there were some specific entries that used raw weights, so I used that, but I did take the time to reweigh my cooked chicken just for fun.

Def not something I will do often but need to use up the cooked chicken breasts. So will the. Use my allowance - 20%. Would be interesting to do the test of weighing it raw and the cooked it in the oven. Then weigh again
