Default Re: Skin

I have found that to date that my skin has bounced back well, there are loose sections however it seems to go in a cycle, I loose a lot one week and the next the skin seems to tighten up. I think the problem areas are my arms and tummy as there is a fair bit of loose skin there. I know that I have age on my side being relatively young so the skin will tighten up more.

This is something that scares the crap out of me so i would be interested in other peoples responses

Me too - I have noticed where there is rapid weight loss (especially my thighs and butt cheeks) the skin goes soft and floppy but a week later it tightens. More recently I have noticed my arms going floppy and boobs but am sure they will self correct

My problem area right now seems to be more under the arm pits ya know about where the bra goes around. It is like all soft an mushy like. Course the upper thighs and butt is loose too. But not like this one area. "But all in all for my age I am happy I don't have alot more loosey goosey skin and it keeps tightening more an more every week. The scales haven't moved for me so am guessing by some comments and my hubby's that things are tightning again.

I've been worried about this too.. Try taking zinc tablets, it's suppose to help..

I do have a bit of loose skin & it hasn't really bothered me till this past week. But it seems to go in cycles & so far it's been righting itself after a while.
I've spoken to my consultant a lot about this issue & she reckons we shouldn't panic till at least 12 months AFTER we've finished.. apparently quite often people have had loose skin when finished but by the time their body settles down after finishing the program, the skin pretty much goes back.

I have the tell tale signs of loose skin on my butt, tummy, inner thighs & upper arms, the rest of me is great. At the moment I'm not stressed about it as when I look at how much I've lost my skin is doing awesomely.

I often worry I'll admit, but at the end of the day I'd rather a bit of loose skin than being as big as I was

Hi Guys,

I am really interested in this as well. It would be great to hear from some people that have lost larger amounts.

I have been taking zinc and 3 fish oil tabs per day and rubbing anything I can find into my skin - bio oil for example. I do not know if it helps but better to be safe than sorry.

Cheers
Daisy

Hi all,

Just sniffed this out (it helps being a Basset Hound ) and wanted to share it. Of course, if you need more, you might need to attack the WHOLE diary (bring a cut lunch for that though ...)

http://newyouforum.com/smf/index.php...sg4536#msg4536

For those who might be wondering where I'm sending you, it's none other than "Asy's Diary" - but the link points right at her comments on skin (after JUST completing one year of Cohens - circa July 07 - after having lost nearly 90 Kg). And, it seems to be good news....

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

It takes a while even after you finish to tone up. I'm still toning. Especially under the arms, I could still fly to china...

But, taking vitamins, and drinking helps.

We didn't get that big overnight, our skin won't shrink back immediately either. That's what I keep telling myself anyway...

AMMENDMENT:

hehe, Koh posted just as I did!!! Still, it's getting tauter and tauter as time goes. But, there really IS no big saggy skirt like I've seen on people after other diets.

Thanks Koh i was about to say it would be great to here how asy is today when she just posted as i was typing this. Its good to no at least that we wont possibly have that big skin skirt you do see people who have lost a lot of weight have. Especially gastric bypass patients that why i wouldn't do it and the fear of going under.

Isha,

Keep up the vitamins, keep up the water, keep down the deviations as all of those contribute toward it.

Also, understand that the amount you have to lose means that you won't end up flat as a tack. It'll take you a year to lose it then probably another year or two for your skin to finish shrinking. Even so, I think we'd BOTH rather be healthy and not carrying around that 100kg (or close to it), and HAVE a slightly wobbly tummy skin, than have it filled out with 4 or 5 bags of cement worth of fat.

Also keep in mind your clinic is there to talk to if you need it. Ring them for support, or email, don't just wait for the 8 weekly checkups. Ring them at the 4 week mark at least and call your weight in, it'll be entered into the computer and you'll at least know you can ask anything you need to then.

Thanks Asy
just got reply been out of reach a few days, i understand your comment 1 year to lose 1 year to tone if i look at it that way every bit of floppyness doesn't seem so bad.
About the clinic i might have to contact them more often as i don't seem to hear from them much

About contacting the clinic, remember, the clinic is CLIENT DRIVEN for contact. Some people like contact and some never want to be called. The clinic hears from them once at the start, and once at the end to order refeed. Obviously these are the extremes, but, as you can never tell, the clinics have found it best to let the clients call in. I guess this also reduces the infrastructure and support staff costs, which in turn reduces the programme cost to everyone.

Don't feel that you shouldn't contact them. They really ARE there for you.

One thing that constantly amuses me reading stuff and talking to people is how some people want to be rung (seemingly) weekly or so. Now, I'm certainly not replying to your post here, just a general comment made regarding many other posts I've read...

I can't imagine what you'd need to talk to the clinic about weekly? OK the first week or two while you're settling in, but sheesh, down the track???

The clinic is there to facilitate your programme. They aren't psychologists, they aren't trained to do 'headspace' stuff. I can imagine the need to talk to them every few weeks, or once a month or so, just to make sure you're going Ok, or to call in your weight if you're a remote-client. Having spoken to quite a number of clinic staff, the majority of people who ring in weekly want such things answered as "Why am I deviating?", "Why can't I stick to the programme" etc... These are questions which need to be thrashed out with a psychologist, and I guarantee it's not in the purview of the clinic to go there.

Anyway, that's just my mutterring on the subject, and, isha, as I said it was NOT meant as a reflection on you!!! Just seemed the appropriate spot to put something I've been thinking of for a while. Hope you don't mind.
