Default Wish List Challenge

Hi Everyone,

In the first diary entry of my journal, I mentioned that at the beginning of this year, I started a "wish list". I have been writing on this list all of the things that I have wanted to do in my life but have been putting off for one reason or another. All of those things that you say "One Day I Will....". Now, to be honest with myself, a lot of the items on my list are on there because I have always been too afraid to do them because of my weight. Things like doing a tandem sky-dive or riding a horse or canoeing to name a few.

This all came about as I turn 40 in December. My goal when I turned 39 was to spend 2008 getting fit and healthy (unfortunately I only learnt about Cohen's in late April but never mind, I am here now). As the saying goes, life begins at 40 and I am planning on living my life to the fullest. My goal for 2009 onwards will be to actually start crossing items off of my "wish list". As they are things that I have always wanted to do, it is a great motivator.

Trips has taken this one step further and suggested that we start a Wish List Challenge that we can all start doing immediately. To quote Trips " I hope everyone takes time to think of something to do that they havent done before, or in a long time and gives it a go!"

When you think of something, please commit to it by posting it in this thread and then let us know when you have seen it through and of course, how it went.

So put your thinking caps on and let the games begin

I love this idea. Thank you so much for starting it. I went kayaking for the first time a couple of weeks ago, done it twice now. My big one is scuba diving, I can't bear to think of how I'd look in a wet suit! It's something I've always wanted to do and the Hubby has done quite a bit of it in the past but not since I've known him. But even before I met him I've always wanted to do it. i had one lesson in a swimming pool years ago when I was a lot thinner, it's a freaky thing to breathe underwater.

So here's my thing, I will learn to scuba dive in 2009.

I'm only on day 6 and hopefully will be at goal by November, do refeed, get onto maintenance and go scuba diving.

Hooray!

Oops, I forgot to mention that we would like to have mini monthly wish list challenges as well. We would like people to think of something relatively simple that they would love to do and then put it on this thread with the aim of completing it within the month.

To give you an idea, I have posted below the first mini challenge that Trips has set for herself:

Quote:
So I'm starting with something simple, yet meaningful to me. I am going to take my kids to the park and I am going to have a swing. Might not sound like much to most, but it's something I would never have dreamed of doing in a long time. Firstly for fear of breaking it, and secondly for fear of getting stuck in it. Now there's nothing to say this might not happen still, but rather than concentrate on that possibility I'm going to think about how it will feel to swing my legs back and forth and believe for a moment in time that I can fly. To feel the rush of air through my hair and against my face as I smile and laugh and remember how good it is to feel like a child and simply enjoy the act of play.
I am still thinking what my first challenge will be but I believe that by setting myself a personal challenge each month, it will make my journey more fun and enjoyable and take my mind off food and the scales that I am starting to become obsessed with. With any luck, it will also make the time go faster!!!! One can only hope

Can't wait to see what mini challenges you all come up with.

Let's all get out there and enjoy life!

Sharon.

I want to have my photo taken at the southern most point of the Australian mainland. I have the other three photos, just need that one to complete the set. However, I need to be fit for the 20+ km each way walk, so I'm aiming to complete the diet, get fit, then do it. It may take a while, but hopefully in the next couple of years. A couple of other photos I'd like are a foot either side of the Murray river, up near its source (my brother has one of himself) and one on the top of Mt Kosciusko. All require a level of fitness that I don't yet have.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

I think I'm going to name my 'monthly' wish challenge at the start of my 'new' month (meaning after my weigh in at the clinic).

I am going next friday, so that afternoon I'll also to swinging!!

In the park people!!! LOL

Next month's wish list challenge I'll decide after that!

But the ultimate big prize, the one I want to see happen when I reach goal, is to swim with the dolphins! That's my big dream!!

Much love,

Trips xxxxxxxx

My challenge is getting up enough courage to wear my new mini skirt & boots out!
Nearly got there last weekend, but didn't feel quite comfortable enough.

We have a big weekend here on the Queen's Birthday holiday, so that is my goal when to wear it !!
