Smile KimmyK1's Diary

Hi everyone, I started the Cohen Program on the 7th of July. First couple of days were very tough, middle of Winter in NZ and having to drink 2 to 3 ltrs of water was a bit of a killer, but I have managed to keep religiously to the program.

I found out about the Cohen Program through a news item on New Zealand TV. But unfortunately NZ does not have any Cohen Clinics, so I doing this program all via e-mail to Australia. I would really love some support through the Forum.

Probably the hardest things for me so far is having to attend a family function at a buffet restaurant on my first week. I ended up taking my prescribed food leaving it in my car, getting my children some food and then sneaking out to my car to eat mine, then going back into the restaurant and pretending that I had eaten their food. All very cloak and daggar!

But apart from that I have an extremely supportive husband who is always encouraging me.

After the first couple of days of a constant headache I have been feeling really good. I do miss my Lamb and Lattes (not together however!)

Hi Kimmy

I am also new to the forum and have just started my program today. I have 50kg to lose so I am hoping it goes quick!

Obviously I haven't had to deal with any situations yet but I have quite a few coming up but I am hoping I'll avoid any deviations. Planning is the key to success isn't it...

I look forward to hearing your stories and seeing how you go.

Cheers
Nickers

Congratualtions on your first week. It gets easier from now on as your body responds to the program. I liken Cohens to healing yourself from the inside out. As your kidneys and liver get rid of the toxins you begin to feel fantastic.
The forum is a fantastic way to keep on track and to know that there are so many other people that were in the same obesity boat.
I drink my water hot in the winter and it helps to feel full and warm at the same time.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Nickers

Thanks for your lovely thoughts.

You are definately right when it comes to planning. To help myself, I mapped out a food plan for 7 days, with all the recipes that I will be using. It has made my life very easy. I have also put at the bottom of each day what my family will be having so I don't have to think too hard about what to give them.

Keep strong over the next couple of days, the headaches can be a little tough but by day four you will feel a lot more energised (and not in pain!)

Hope to speak to you soon.

Regards Kim

Hi Possum

Thank you for your wishes. I will give the warm water a try. These winter temperatures are doing my head in. Only 9 Degrees today!

Hi Kimmyk1,

Gotta welcome a fellow Kiwi don't I ? But hey, you won't learn too much from me - I'm a "friend of the family" who hasn't walked where you are walking. But I DO like to support people who are "having a go" at making their lives better (check my sig).

Can I say, though "Good on you!!" for starting - and I reckon you've chosen THE BEST way to go.... I look forward to cheering you on as you walk your path down to your ideal weight,

Koh

Should that be "KimmyK1w1's diary" ??

Hey, you're going real well, and not too far from 20% of the journey done already. Good to hear you have a supportive hubby too - that helps heaps eh? Keep on dropping it like it's hot !!

Smile Received Refeeding Programme

Hi everyone,

Today I received my refeeding programme. I have e-mailed a few questions off to my consultant one of which is what is my top end goal weight. I was only ever been given the figure of 55kg. I just need to check with them to make sure that is the top end weight and not the bottom! If it is, I need to loose another 1.9 kg which will bring me within 2 kgs of goal weight to begin the refeed programme.

Having read it through twice already things are sinking in slowly but I am going to have to really plan well to get this to work for me. I have been given a 15 day refeed plan. From day 1 Bread has been added in as well as "Good Fruit", so it will be two different foods going into my system which I am going to have to consider if I don't feel good afterwards. I may alternate the bread with crispbread on the alternate days just so I don't overload my system too fast.

Exciting times ahead I think...

Kim

How exciting for you, Kimmy! It must be nice to get new foods introduced. Hope I get there soon! Good luck with it!

Hi Kimmy,

Just over the last few days, I've heard of MANY who are getting dizzy (I'm referring to an earlier post of yours). In most of those cases, cutting BACK on the amount of water seems to help.

e.g. When one is at 100Kg, one might need 3 litres a day, but at 60Kg, probably 2 litres is sufficient. And, it seems, dizziness results from too much water (I've read it many times recently, from many people). So, maybe cut back a bit to see if it settles you somewhat.

I figure the happier you are as you start refeed, the better it will work...

Default Week 18

I received my refeed plan on the weekend and I have decided to keep going with my original plan until I am 57kg which will take me exactly 2 kg from top goal weight. I hope to reach that by end of next week. I think I will be much happier starting the refeed programme by following the instructions to the letter rather than trying to work out whether I am really ready for re-feed or not. I think my body is ready but my head isn't quite there yet!

I have read through the refeed programme several times. I want to feel like I am in control and the only way to do that is to plan all my meals in advance, so I have created a 15 day menu which I can follow even if I have to go back and repeat a couple of days if the weight gain is too much. I feel much better having completed that and it raised some questions regarding the plan which my consultant was able to answer. Adding the new protein without any examples was a bit of a minefield for me. I have had to go back and forth several times with e-mails to clarify what is considered new protein regarding meat.

In terms of how I feel at the moment I am elated that the end is in sight but also incredibly nervous about this part of the journey, I am very worried about undoing all this hard work I have achieved, I know that the journey will never be over but I hope that the willpower I found during this time will stay with me.

Kim

Hi Kim,

Quote:

Hehe, you sound like my wife - "A day's not a day without a good worry" is my oft-quoted comment to her....

But, no, you WON'T be undoing all your hard work, unless you go back to how you always used to eat. If you've read around, you'll often see posts like "If you always do what you always did, then you'll always get what you always got".

After completing this, Kim, you will be able to have the occasional "lash-out" if/when the timing seems right. But you've now learned how GOOD it feels to be slim, healthy, full of energy, and ALL of the other good stuff.

You'll likely find that, even when tempted, you'll eat LESS of the "old bad stuff" simply 'cos you don't want to !! Ain't it great ????

And if (heaven forbid) the worst did happen, at least you KNOW you can put it right again, just like you just have....

So try to relax, and just go do it - no need to worry, as you can "work it out" if the wheels fall off (you have that knowledge now - forever).

Go get it champ, with a light heart - love what has happened, what is still happening, and where you are - both today and tomorrow,

Hugs,

Koh
