SkinnyMe's Diary
Hello all, Well, I'm almost finished with my 1st day of Cohen's. Just my last fruit and cracker left. It was a GREAT day...I was a little hungry in the middle but all and all it was a GREAT day !!! I am so happy to have you all for a support system. Just reading the posts has already been such an important part of this for me. I've learned so much. I know I'm not supposed to weigh myself everyday...but I have always been a daily weigher...does anyone weigh more than once a week or once a month like they say we should? |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Welcome.
I would guess that the majority of people on this forum weigh themselves more than Dr Cohen recommends. I am a chronic daily weigher myself. I think that as long as you don't get depressed, angry or frustrated if you see the weight flactuate up and down while daily weighing, it's fine. If you have a disposition that would see you emotionally hit when the scales go up one day to the next, then I would recommend weekly or even monthly weighing. |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Welcome SkinnyMe
You are going to be pleasantly surprised with the results of this program. On no other diet have I ever lost 9.3 kg, let alone in 4 weeks. Keep posting entries on the forum, we all read them for inspiration and sharing the journey. It beats turning up to weekly meetings on other weight loss programs and I have found it an essential ingredient to success. I weigh myself daily (every morning) it makes me focus on the task at hand. When I don't see a loss I just look back at where I was 1 month ago, 2 months ago, ........, 1 year ago and I am proud of what I have achieved so far. The first few days I found I was very tired and had a dull head. Within a short period of time you'll feel great and be prepared for compliments to flow. Good luck, Kathy |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Evening skinnyme! I can't tell you how much weight I've lost in the short time I've been on the program, as I'm waiting to see that one impressive (hopefully!) number at the end of the month. BUT I can say that 60cms in a week is pretty satisfying shrinkage
I find I have hard days and easy days, which usually hinges on how much I enjoyed my last meal. The crew here have been encouraging me with "culinary creativity" and I think it makes a huge difference. Good luck, I can't wait to see the skinny you. |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
DAY 2 I feel great again today. What a crazy day. The good part was that I slept like a log last night and didn't wake up until 10am. I rushed to have my breakfast before heading out to get some work done. I figured that I would have my lunch at 3:15 and I would have plenty of time to get back before then. So I brought my snack with me on the road. My timing was perfect until I got caught up in a ton of traffic...people in California don't know how to drive in the rain. So I didn't get my lunch until 4pm. YIKES!!! Now I wont have my 5 hours between meals and be able to eat before 9pm. I was thinking of adding my evening snack to my dinner and eating at 9...a little bit after hopefully won't mess things up too much. Anyone have any good recipes for chicken with mango? I have a 1/2 mango left from my earlier snack (whole was too big) and thought some kind of mango salsa would be nice. |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Hi Skinny, my favourite dish is to stiry fry chicken and vegies and then stir through your mango allowance - doesn't need any sacue the mango will keep it moist. Yummy! You can add some curry if you want mix in a little Sprite Zero just to steam finish the vegies before adding mango. Check out the recipes in the Tips, Trick and Recipes on this forum site. Also Cohen site has sme great ones too.

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Thanks Wendy,
I don't have any soda yet but I do think that I will have to go buy some since so many of the yummy sounding recipes call for it. I am going to try the chicken stir-fry that I have been making and add the mango in towards the end. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Day 4
Still a bit cranky and don't have much energy. I'm hoping the end of the 1st week is going to be just as Irene said...also excited to weigh myself Thursday. I started to weigh everyday and thought better of it when the scale only showed 1 pd loss in the first 2 days. I'm a little nervous that I'm not going to lose weight ...although I don't know how that would be possible since I'm hardly eating a thing. I've stuck to this 100% and surprisingly don't feel too hungry. When I look at the meal I've just made myself I can't believe that's all I get to eat..it's a bit shocking...isn't it? Question...do most of you eat basically the same things everyday for each meal? Just curious...I mostly have been...changed it a bit for one of two meals...just hope I don't start getting sick of chicken. I bought 3 pounds of chicken breast at the market and spent about an hour today cutting the excess fat off and weighing it. Then I put it in separate plastic bags with my 3 different weight options and tossed them in the freezer. I think it will make it a lot easier for me to just pull out the plastic bag. I will have to do the same thing with some red meat. Another Question...what kind of red meat do most of the people use. The leanest I know of is Filit Mignon...but waaayyy too costly. Any suggestions on another good lean meat that isn't so expensive? Well, enough of my rambling on. Thanks again for all your support and quick responses. Cindy |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Hey Skinny Me
You are doing it right. The best thing you can do for yourself is buy you meat and chicken in bulk and cut it, weigh it, bag it, label it and put it in the freezer. Then its just like fast food...heehee. In my personal opinion, I only buy the best meat I can, which to me means fillet steak, which you are right, it does cost a lot, but I figure that I am saving money on not buying all the other things I used to in the supermarket or junk food meals so I can now afford to have great meat. Plus, we are worth the best - so get the best you can afford. Perhaps try and source it in bulk to get a discount. And don't worry, you are losing weight - trust me on that. Cheers Irene

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Irene,
You are so right. I was just telling one of my friends how much money I'm saving on this diet by not bringing in a ton of junk...plus not going out to dinner and cocktails. I am going to go for the filet mignon...I am worth it. Thanks again, Cindy p.s. Irene...you are doing awesome on your weight loss. Congrats!!! |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Hi Skinny Me
Yep I am with Irene on the red meat thing - I buy the most expensive one - melts in your mouth and it is so worth it over cheap, tough budget cuts. I really like to mix things up I love feta and cauliflower soup, having snapper and seafood and the occasional kangaroo

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Not sure that SkinnyMe would be able to get kangaroo as she is in the US, are there any exotic native north american meats that you get Skinnyme?

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Hey all,
Nope, no kangaroo here in the states. I do love pork tenderloin...they call it the other white meat. It's low in fat...just a little more then chicken and pretty much the same calories. But, since it's not on my Cohen's list...I won't eat it...does anyone else eat it? Cindy |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Hi SkinnyMe,
welcome to the forum. I decided that when I first undertook this agreement with myself,( to improve my life), I would use the money I used to spend on junk thru my day on the best of what I was allowed in my diet. My family still eats well, I just happen to eat better.......... I only buy what I'm allowed off the list but I make sure it's the best quality I can afford. Some wks it's scotch fillet others it's rump but I buy the leanest cut I can find and then bring it home, weigh it out and bag it, then into the freezer. Same with my other allowances, (though I can't bring myself to eat roo yet). Planning and Preparation are half the battle and I even take out my crispbreads and bag them into resealable bags ready for the week, then just throw a bag into my work bag for the day with my fruit and lunch as I head out the door in the morning. I also keep a couple of bottles of mineral water in my cupboard @ work, if there's a bit of a function in the workplace with drinks being served I pop one into the fridge and have that instead with my crispbread allowance instead of the nibblies that might be served. It's very do-able! Stick with the program as much as possible and, even if the scales don't move, don't forget to measure yourself cause there's going to be movement there! Cheers and look forward to seeing more of your journey, Dee. |

Hi Skinnyme,
Pudge is from US and she may be able to suggest other US meat options. Your first week and you are doing so well. Good luck with the program. Cheers. |

Re: SkinnyMe's Diary
Day 5
Feeling really good...I just can't believe it. So..I've been trying not to weigh myself but unfortunately, the scale somehow slid right under my feet this morning and I was a bit disappointed in the results. Since I don't really have a place to keep my scale out i keep it under a cabinet and pull it out when i want to weigh myself...don't know how it was able to move under my feet like that. But anyway, It only showed 1 pound weight loss...then I moved it to two other places and it showed up to 3 pounds off. What the heck should I believe? Now I put the scale out in my kitchen where I don't walk very much and I'm going to leave it there. I will wait until day 7 to weigh again...can't wait a month. In one of the diary's I read about someone that makes a mango frozen yogurt for breakfast. I keep thinking about it and I was not able to find the post again. Any chance someone knows who I'm talking about or how to make it? I would really love to get the recipe. Cindy |
