Default Baby food in recipes

Hi all. Not sure if this is the right place for it but thought I will pop the question here. I have been scanning the internet for healthy recipes and things to make as I know I then control what goes into it. What I have picked up is that some recipes show baby food jars (Like Nestle Purity or HiPP Organic baby food) as an ingredient. I am not that clued up on the science of baking so will this be a substitute for milk or what?

I didnt ever really use commercial baby foods with either of mine. I just didnt see the need. You have no idea the quality of food in them and really how hard is it to cook up some food and whizz it!! If your babe goes in for mush anyway?
I found personally baby led weaning worked a charm for us. Mine were both breastfed until almost 3 years old. From memory at about 4 - 6 months old they started to show a bit of interest in food and we followed with watching them with a little mashed sweet potato and pear but the mushy food stage didnt really last long with us they wanted to get into munching on the real stuff. To avoid allergies we didnt introduce egg or wheat or dairy or fish or nuts etc until after 12 months to let their digestive and immune sytems build up and get strong. My kids now have really healthy appetites and will pretty much eat anything and are off the charts for height!
I think from memory the dr sears site and the mothering site would be good places to start your searching??
How exciting Blommie!! Also so easy to freeze in icecube trays little serves of your mushy foods for bubs.

Do you mean cooking food for yourself, Blommie??

I've never seen baby food in regular food recipes... but then again I haven't searched too hard for 'healthy' recipes.

Yip, cooking with it There are a couple of recipes more specific when you following a weight toning plan where some of the "treats" contain Babyfood as a wet ingredient

Do people really use baby food in recipes?

I think quite likely the answer is yes, they do.

You see, I see a lot of TV shows and every time I flip channels, there is a food show on every second channel. The best part is one gets to see all kinds of things being used as ingredients in these shoes - so I am quite sure that they must be throwing in baby food as well.

Regards
