Your Favourite Fish
I have a fresh fish shop 2 minutes down the road, so I can grab it fresh daily. TIA |

You program usually has a long list of suitable fish that you are allowed. If none of them work for you then you will have to eat chicken an meats then. You cannot have any fish that isn't on your program.

Hi Paza,
As I'm not a big seafood fan I can't really recommend any of the fish from the list - I only go as far as tuna patties or tuna with salad! Having a fresh fish shop close by will be very handy - I'm certain one of the helpful fish-eating people on the forum will be able to recommend you their favourites from the approved list! Good luck |

Hi Tia,
I'm not sure what fish you are allowed but I have a fresh market near me also and find its worth buying decent fish given you are only eating small amounts - so it doesn't cost a fortune. I have recently brought snapper and flake - you can get both boneless and filletted so its nice and easy to chop up and weigh. I also buy a kilo of calamari at a time and you can get about 10 meals from that. I add lemon juice, coriander, black pepper and chili flakes to the seafood and let is sit for a while before cooking - YUMMO!!! |

Thanks for your replies... and sorry I did mean approved fish, just incase it didnt come out right.
Nance Thank you for your suggestions, I dont mind buying the expensive stuff as long as it tastes good. I will try the snapper and flake aswell as the calamari, however I am a bit worried of over cooking it. But I have been wanting to try it for a while after a reading a few recipes that sounded really nice. P x |

Hi there
As someone who loooooooooooves seafood .. I go to the fish markets and get fresh snapper ... I was buying jewfish .. cause I thought the spelling of dhufish was the wrong and it was pretty much the same thing .. but someone said I was wrong .. but I ate it for a couple of months .. now I buy snapper .. and a bag of the baby squid (check out connies recipes for spicy squid salad) and a bag of prawns ... have never ever cooked with seafood so much .. Do have tinned tuna for emergencies but have only had it twice I think. Enjoy Stoddy |

Thanks so much Stoddy Looks like snapper & squid is the way to go, I also love prawns so I will be happy garlic prawns often.. yum! Connie's receipe was the one that sounded good, I will definitely give that a go, and it will be very quick to cook up.

Yep snapper hands down - nice just fried with a simple salad but also nice baked.
The squid is great as calamari rings (I posted a recipe for crumber calamari in the recipe section) And prawns are fab as a curry (mango curry) or garlic prawns

Hey thanks for that Hexi.
Certainly looks like snapper is the winner. I am really looking forward to having garlic or just curry prawns.. I would prefer to eat the mango... which should be back in season soon yay! Anyway yeah I have a few squid receipes to try so I surpose I will perfect the cooking time sooner or later |

Re: Your Favourite Fish
Salmon? Too bad it isn't allowed in my plan.
For Snapper, it's too expensive here in Singapore. But I think, I should give it a try even atleast once a week. Tee hee. Sole fish doesn't taste that good too. But it's okay though if you really want some fish to eat.

Re: Your Favourite Fish
Thanks Tes for saving the day! Looks like her post got deleted. I have read same person's post on another thread regarding breakfast ideas, and there's a pork sausage recipe. Hahaha. There must be a pun intended there.
