The one good thing about my little hiatus is I was regular for the first time in ages.

My consultant said I need to take high dose magnesium and zinc? I’m not really into health pills and only take the multi vitamin but I’ll try it and see what happens. Good day yesterday and my gut thabked me for it. The major difference is bed time. If u overeat u feel terrible when u go to bed lol and still fun the next morning meaning I don’t eat until later and it’s usually a gross greasy feed or far too much food.

Another day I haven’t stood on the scale to scared I’ve gone back towards 120kgs I’m pretty sure I’m in week 23 so next week I have to weigh - luckily no expensive blood test lol

Hope everyone had a great weekend - it’s getting lighter and warmer here yippee

Just

Hi all

Hope everyone’s had a successful week so far, had family visit from up north last night - Maoris get offended if u don’t eat. And man oh man the pressure lol

Did I fail - yes but no, I hate a piece of bread and pretty much hid from them - I need more fibre the high dose magnesium isn’t workin and fruit is not working for other bodily issues that have plagued me from he start so I’ve bought Metamucil - I almost need medical intervention it’s reallt hard cutting out fibre lol. Not sure how the conversation ended up being about that but there you go lol

Weathers beautiful here now - roll on summer

I’m still around just been really busy trying to get back on the wagon I’m currently stuck in the good day bad day cycle - keepers it’s so hard my mind is saying 35kgs is enough and I feel really good for it but know I’m still miles from the goal line - I’ve gotta get my mind back on board!!!!

Once that happens I’ll be back to the unstoppable force I was not so long ago - just

Hi Just,
Good to know you are still around and having a go - might be a half-assed go right now, but a go none-the-less. See, by at least trying to start again you are showing you do want to keep moving down the scales. I think you know you will be WAY better for it once you get under 100, and even more so if you can attain your personal goal weight.

But hey, let's not forget what you HAVE achieved already. There are a host of things that change as you keep on with it. Some of the early ones would have been being able to get a seatbelt done up - others would find chairs "getting bigger" ..... There are likely a host of memories out there, just waiting for you to go find them again, and have htem inspire you to "get back on the bus".

Speaking of which, have you reread the "back on the bus" thread? Many find it is a huge help in understanding why it can be so difficult to lose weight, and what actually happens physically to make it HARD to go on once you've eaten something that you perhaps shouldn't have. To save you looking, go here:-

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7521

And after you have read that, do check out your old diary (revisit your own words and emotions that came into play during your journey) as that can often help you to settle back into the Plan and re-start your journey.

Big hugs, and I hope you can take a deep breath and go on to do yourself a whole lot of good once more.

I’m still on par - as in the wagon ran me over the tire marks are all over my back but I’m getting up and carrying on with things lol - and thanks koh

I received my third email from my cohens consultant to say my contract is up and if I wanted to continue with their support it’s another $250 - hmmmm now I wouldn’t mind paying that IF the support was actually there but I should be paying u Koh lol u have been the biggest supporter I’ve had outside my family etc

So I opted not to continue my program with cohens because they have never checked on me, hardly answered my questions and never sent any motivation my way - I have my program and I’m happy to go solo which I pretty much have been anyways. It was so different the first time they were always ringing or emailing etc but this time nothing??? Disappointing due to the cost of the program but has made me more determined

Hi Just,
Quote:

It saddens me to read that as I have much admiration for Dr Cohen and the good work he has done. Of course, these clinics are actually franchises, so it can be a lottery in finding a clinic that supports you the way you need. And it is not like you can easily change from one to another if your first choice hasn't worked out so well.

Thanks for your words re me, Just - I guess the work I do here is simply to provide a helping hand and an alternative point of view too. I step in when I think what I have to say might be useful. I am pleased that you have found that to be true for you.

I actively promote clinics too - mainly because they are the conduit to Dr Cohen, and they also provide the Refeed docs and Maintenance Guidelines, both of which are so important in the scheme of things. I trust you might already have both of these from last time Just. If not, I would strongly suggest a rethink re your contract as I have often said that Refeed appears to be one of the most important parts of the program.

In saying that, there are other MORE important things - YOU, your goals, your drive to reach them, your determination, and your teachability.

I do believe you can get right through this without a clinic Just, though doing that is not what I would wish for you. However, it is your choice re the contract, and I will still be here and backing you into the future, so you go hard girl !!

Hugs,
Koh

Your right koh it is individual franchises and I’m sure there’s only one in nz - it was so good last time but this time maybe there are too many for one clinic and the support just isn’t there anymore.

I feel let down and not supported unlike last time the support was there u could go and speak to someone - oh well I’m not going to pay another cent for non-communication etc and carry on myself.

Hi Just

Thats sad about the clinics in NZ - I went to the ChCh one and enjoyed the visits - it did keep me on track knowing that I had to front up to someone. I still believe 100% in this lifestyle change and as there are so many people that need this change, it is disappointing that people won't have the same opportunities - I am so grateful for Cohens just wished i found it earlier.

It's a shame this forum has gone quiet as well. I used to get up earlier to have my breakfast - to fit in the 5 hour rule and to enable to eat lunch at 12 - and read the forum, get inspired by those who were further down the track and got into the mindset that if they could do it, then I could too.

I know I am guilty for not posting as often I should but it is on my "list to do"

Wishing you a good week ahead
WB

Fair enough, Just - sometimes things just aren't right......

Let me add a little more comment for others who don't have your experience of having done Cohens before.... And that is this - back when I first started my time on here, Asy (the one who initiated this place) was a Cohens devotee who later became a Cohens consultant.

Her words to me, after some time as a consultant, were that they were too busy to be doing the "call to see how you are going". What they DID do, was to nurture those who asked for help. i.e. If you were travelling along fine, they wouldn't be calling you, but if you called them with some issue, they would rally around behind you to help you past whatever the obstacle was.

So, for others of you who reading and who are DEPENDENT on your Clinic for support, be in touch with them. Let them prove their mettle to you - it could be they are worth their pay (if they are operating as Asy's clinic did), or maybe they just don't offer much support as Just has been finding.

Seems there are different ways to charge too. I recall anyone US-based paid for 3 months worth of assistance, then another, then another. I don't know the amounts per quarter. In Australia, Asy tells me they paid a one-off charge that took you "all the way through" - and that was approaching $1000. So there was no "quarter-by-quarter" option in Australia. NZ, I don't know, but it sounds like it might be similar to the US model.

The big thing in the end though, is that first-timers NEED the Refeed and the Maintenance Guidelines if they are to have a good chance of success. So, you new readers who are also new to Cohens, please don't go dropping out too early. Whether you pay a huge amount upfront, or quarter by quarter, you NEED the whole package (i.e. right thru to Maintenance).

Sorry Just, for using your diary to make a point, but it seemed relevant and important to me. Not so much for you, but for those reading your diary later,

Koh
