Default Terrified to start refeed but all the signs are there

Hi everyone, I'm sitting just 1.5kg above the top of my weight range, I'm all of a sudden constantly feeling hungry and my weight loss has slowed right down.

I'm afraid, afraid to order my refeed, afraid to be exposed to normality and afraid of falling back to old habits. It's terrifying.

I have worked so hard to get to this point and not wavered in spite of some hurdles along the way. I am so very proud of my self and what I've achieved.

I'm wondering if there are others out there that have felt this way coming into re-feed.

Thanks

How exciting ED! sounds like you are ready.
in answer to your question...
Yes yes and yes! We all panic about starting and thinking we can't be finished. But really, we need to do refeed to learn what our body can take in without gaining weight. Your refeed program will tell you how to recognise this amount and that is what you can use for normal everyday eating.
It's still there, the safety net, you just have to watch the extras and the special occasions.
Refeed tells you how to do it.

Oh and stay on the forum lots of people feeling similar!
It is scary, so big cyber hugs, but it's a process you need to do!

Hi ED. Yep! I can relate to it all. I started 2kg above my goal range and quickly lost a kg of it in reefed so far. The scales didn't budge for ages and I was starving!! AND I went a little insane, and emotional and I couldn't string a coherent thought together. Twas awful! But I am a much happier lass. I just had to 'let go'. So hard to do when there has been such tight control for so long. I just had to realize with lots of forum help that my body was ready. And if I want to drop a bit more later so be it. There truly is not much left fat wise though. A bit of loose skin which could easily be 2kg worth. Don't be afraid, it is so much fun!! Pop over to the reefed diary's and have a read.

I think most people get scared to start refeed! But it is truly fun! Experiencing all the tastes again and witnessing first hand that if you eat the right foods, you can still maintain your weight! It's an amazing experience!!!

Hi Ed, definitely check out the refeed diaries, it really is a whole lot of fun once you're there...but yes, all of us have a whole lot of mixed feelings. I think it's perfectly natural to be afraid of 'facing the norm' and that's kinda healthier than "I can't wait till I'm done and can eat what I like" mentality...if you are cautious, follow the rules all will be well, but if you muck it, and gain a bit of weight (like moi) you also have the tools to deal with it...it really will be ok...dive in and enjoy....besides...if you don't your body will go nuts and send you on a starvation rampage and god help us all!

Hi ED,
Firstly, a HUGE congratulations on making it to your goal weight. I think you've done really well. Don't be afraid of Refeed. You've already shown us what a great job you did following the original plan and making it here. Now follow the Refeed guidelines and you'll have nothing to worry about.
I sincerely wish you well and please keep us updated on your progress. We'll all be waiting to hear.
Well done.
Cheers, Andy.

Thanks everyone. So, I contacted my clinic and have been told I need to wait until post my next blood test (next Tuesday) to order my re feed. I'm absolutely ravenous and definitely counting minutes down until I can eat my next meal, my moods are totally all over the place........these things are presenting me some interesting new challenges. I'm working through my trepidation and am now starting to look forward to the next phase of being the new me and that is re feed and maintaining my svelte new shape (excluding the loose skin of course!). Thanks everyone for your feedback and support, I will keep you posted.

Fantastic news about refeed being on it's way......have you considered trying the lemon drink to help ward off the hungries? I find it is a great appetite suppressent, even though I was scared to sacrifice my fruit portions for it.

Other than that - water, hot teas, fizz - fill you up till the next meal.

Some people have discussed with their consultants about having an extra cracker serving - have you talked to your clinic about that (especially if you are starving hungry)?
