Default Sleep

Since I'm on Cohens, I have noticed (or really over the last few weeks, that is) that whilst I don't really feel like I'm sleeping better (still have problems falling asleep, and still waking up a few times a night to go to the toilet), I seem to need much less sleep. So either I AM actually sleeping better, or I don't know. I used to go to bed at about 9 to 10, and get up at about 7 to 8 and feel fine, now I go to bed about 11 or 12 cos I'm not tired, and wake up (mind you: not get up yet) about 6 feeling awake and fit.

Has anyone else experienced that?

Katrin

I am not as tired and tend to go to bed a bit later too. My husband told me I am not so restless when I am sleeping and I don't snore anymore, much to his delight!

I am not an insomniac.... I am not an insomniac... I am not an insomniac...

Seriously, though, I 'lost' my sleep Apnoea through losing weight, which makes me sleep MUCH better.

I guess I better go to bed now...

That's great, Asy. My mum's hubby has it to. I've suggested the programme to them but, they're just not interested. I guess when I have so much to prove anything I say just sounds like I'm talking rubbish and I don't know what I'm on about!!!

I think that you definately sleep more efficiently, my partner tells me that I no longer snore since starting the program and I don't toss and turn so much as I did previously.

Hi Everyone,

My first week and a half on Cohens, I slept really badly. I had lots of energy and when I went to bed it seemed to continue.

But I found out what my problem was. I used to take my vitamins morning and night. I now only take them in the morning and find that I sleep really well all night through.

In the week and a half, I also used to get up to go to the loo which used to disturb whatever little sleep I got back then. I now make sure that I stop drinking water at about 8 - 9pm (or slow it down anyway) and by the time I go to bed around 11pm, my toileting has slowed down as well and I manage to sleep the whole night without interruptions.

So now that Ive got all that out of the way - I sleep fantastic!!!

That's great, all of you. I'm still having to get used to going to bed later, because my husband (yesterday was an example) falls asleep over the 830 1 hour movie, and that's not because it was boring. So then I think, I should be in bed as well, but i Guess I could read or get some of the other stuff done I don't get done during the day. I like it! ONly the running to the toilet think could top, I reckon. Last night, went to bed already at 10, got up once at 1230 for the loo, then slept til 7, so that's rather good.

I really think its all about planning - Cohen's seems to make it an essential part - you have to plan your meals, plan your meal weights, plan your water intake plan your meal times, plan your fruit and hard dry biscuit intake, plan your weighing days, plan your eating habits, plan your good foods, plan your sleeping habits -plan plan plan - plan your life and the planning bit goes on. The old saying "fail to plan and you plan to fail" - but apply the KISS plan - "keep it simple stupid" and look how the big plan suddenly starts to take shape to a better lifestyle -

have a well planned day everyone

Andy

I sleep really good now no snoring either,no night sweats or hot flashes. Freezing though so do sleep in flannels and hunting socks much to hubby's dismay. Was soooo cold the other night he thought he would get lucky I said I ain't taking no clothes off. So he snuggled and we fell asleep. He says I am just downright sexy in hunting socks oh ya.

Hey Asy,

Can we "rate threads" with this forum? If so, how? I think THIS thread deserves a BIG RAP !!!

Thanks Koh for you stamp of approval for 'my' thread.

And I agree, it's one of those threats that all people considering Cohens should read, as I reckon if you're a bad sleeper, that would be such a worthwhile change to your whole life (and that of your partner!). People who sleep badly and all of a sudden sleep well will only then realise what an amazing thing sleep is, and how it can turn your whole life around.

Thanks Dr Cohens!

Katrin

Hi Katrin,

At the very least, this has to become a "gem" - whether we can rate threads or not, I guess we can find ways to bring the good ones "front and centre" eh?

Hi all i saw this on Oprah a few months back and thought i would add to this thread. The sugar that we consume in everyday life makes our bodies going a coma like state and that is why we feel we sleep better before Cohens, and when we wake up we can feel really awful or really good depending on how much our bodies have used the sugar over night. The sugar makes us feel tired and since we no longer are eating sugar our bodies aren't weighed down with sugar overload so we feel great. jacin

......... and I always thought it was the square bear bottle that always made me go into a coma ..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS I have just modified this for the grammatical whiz of the forum ............................. comma becomes coma !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway it might be fun .................to become a comma........... It could be a new thing.............. as long as I didn't get jammed between big words !!!!!

A comma?

Why in daylights would you WANT to go into a comma?!

a Coma I can understand, but entering random punctuation... hmmm

yep i agree with everyone. the sleep benefits are still the big drawcard for me at this stage. i am really sleeping well, and i use to have all three types of insomnia, couldnt get to sleep, kept waking up all night and would wake up really early in the morning.

yep this is santas program, no doubt.
