Default LF - Japanese Fast Food

LF, I was going to PM you but I thought it might be of interest to everyone.

I'm in Tokyo next week and I'm trying to work out what I can eat at lunchtimes. Konkatsu restaurants are out, as are Soba and Udon. Sushi place for sashimi would work but they are light on veggies. DinDon for meat but if I think they have sauces and they're veggies are all carb filled. As you can see I'm struggling to find a good alternative. Do you have any tips ? I'm hoping Lawsons or someone sell tuna salad or chicken salad but I'm not holding my breath.

TIA if you have any advice.

Sorry for the late response I didn't notice this post.

Tokyo is hard work firstly because of rice is included in all meals and most meals don't have enough high quality low fat proteins to meet your needs for Cohen meal.

Honestly I had some meals out whilst on Cohen but Tokyo is my home so I didnt eat out much in Tokyo during Cohen...
Tokyo is tough, as bad or worse than HongKong to eat even close to Cohen.
  • Many Sushi restaurants have Sashimi Salad such as "Sushi Zanmai" in Tsukiji which is as close as you will get to Cohen order some extra tuna sashimi to make the weight of proteins. Dont mind the dressing tastes good but not Cohen.
  • At Ginza you can eat the Hanamasa "all you can eat" yakinuki restaurant for 1200yen, just don't eat much!. Hanamasa supermarket next door has some foods that you can buy and eat on the run.
  • Orange Bento has pick your own foods, but again sauce and dressing isn't quite Cohen. But you can get close. Spinach salad, fish.
  • Steak house like DinDon, Volks, Royal Host order a side salad the steak and ditch the carb side vegetables.
  • My best pick is Yakitori (Grilled Chicken Sticks) with salt dressing and a side salad.
  • Fast food: Mos Burger has low carb burgers with good quality beef and good vegetables.

Very tough to find anything at Convenience stores that match.

Certainly wasn't easy. Lucky the hotel had "health" meals where I found half a stiploin steak, grilled, and a side of tossed salad. Beef was typical japanese beef though so it was very fatty.

Lunch was tough. The closest I got was buying two small chicken salads from AM PM. veggie portion was about right but the meat was way under sized. I couldn't bring myself to buying 6 of them just to get enough meat.

I realise now how much tougher it was for your doing Cohen's in Japan !

Strangly enough probably KFC with a side salad is probably as close as you can get on Cohen fat food in Japan, just get 2 of the breast bits, and remove all skin, fat etc, plus the side salad. Mos burger otherwise, which I know is also in Singapore (though not as good).

Actually being in Tokyo wasnt so bad on Cohen, basically you need to cook everything anyway and there is not much in the way of "easy" "almost OK" alternatives, most meals outside are full disasters for following the diet plan.

Santa would not be pleased!
