Default Turkey Breast?

Does anybody know where you can buy turkey breast? Either at local supermarket chains or whether butchers can get it? I'm on the northern suburbs of Brisbane, Qld and would love to be able to get turkey. All I can find is pre marinated turkey legs or that manufactured meat stuff.

The only time I can remember seeing turkey anywhere is at Christmas??

Go to a good local butcher and he can order it. However you do get a 2kg breast costing about $35 to $40 but simply cut it up to COhen size and freeze for future use. It is tougher than chicken but a nice change.

Thanks Peter,

I have just recently been thinking of hunting down a good butcher. I thought that would probably be the best option to find turkey. I love turkey when we have it at Christmas so was thinking it would be a nice change.

I am finding the meat in Coles and Woolies to be really full of fat and it's quite disgusting.

I am also finding that chicken often smells really badly of chemicals. I'm not sure if the butcher has cleaned down the benches before cutting up the chooks or if it is just full of preservitives. Maybe my nose and tastebuds are just more in tune with what I'm putting in my body nowadays????

Unfortunately where I'm living at the moment I don't have access to a lot of organic produce - but I always choose that when I see it. It's amazing the difference in taste of something that is properly grown and not mass produced and stored frozen....

I would definitely find a butcher for all your meat! I don't buy organic, just the quality of meat from the butcher is sooo much better than Coles or Woolies. Its much more tender and tastes much better. When we only have so little to eat, I refuse to eat poor quality food!!
Not sure where you are, but I use "bush's meats" which is a chain butcher round this area. The chicken is non-hormone, grain fed. I know we can't eat sausages, but all their sausages are gluten free and really made from meat! Sometimes i wonder what the actual meat content of sausages from Coles and Woolies are... I'm sure it's fairly low!!

On the north side of Brisbane, try Clayfield at the corner of Junction Rd and Sandgate Rd. They have a fresh seafood shop, an amazing fruit and veg shop with lots of organic produce, an equally amazing butcher, and most important of all - parking!
