suzie, sounds like your having a good time witht he new foods, even though it sounds like your having trouble fitting it all in, I guess it makes sense after all the months of small quantities!

Hi suzieQ...It's good to see you having fun on refeed...that part of being forced to eat did rather sound bratty hehe...

As for your frame size..maybe this might help:

I was under the illusion that i had a large frame and it turned out i am actually small just bordering on medium which means i should be aiming much lower..but will wait and see.

Eat up! There's plenty more to come! Looks as though you're doing well despite being stuffed with all that food. I just checked my frame size and I'm tiny, I must have the smallest wrists in all the land.

You are going great guns.

Sounds like splitting the food up is a good idea when at mixing proteins stage. I'll keep that little tip next to me when I hit that stage and the HUGE portions

Default Refeed Day 14

Just a quick update, we've had 2 Christmas gatherings at our place this weekend so I've been super busy. We are headed down the coast for a at least a week so I will be MIA from the forum for a while.

I'm still enjoying refeed, it's been a bit tricky trying to keep up with it all with the social thingy's I've had on but I'm doing my best. I realised the bread was making me lethargic and a bit bloated so will stay away from it, I haven't had pasta or rice as I don't want to get into the habit again - I used to be a big pasta and rice eater .

Weight still at 52.8kg which is fine, happy with that.

Oohh now the good news, I saw all hubby's side of the family for the first time in months yesterday and they could not believe my weight loss. I thought I would have to do CPR on one of them they were just blown away. Even 2 of the little kiddies said "you look different, you're smaller and prettier" how cute is that? Now, when it comes from the mouth's of babes you know it's all good!

We had our family Santa photo done today and it is a really lovely one, I said to hubby now I will rip that bloody awful one from last year up or even better burn it! Comparing the two photo's is so weird, I just look so different now. Hubby scanned it and sent it to his family O/S and others and told them I was his new girlfriend Olga from Russia .

I've been going for good brisk half hour walks every day and doing toning excercises at home which I'm really enjoying and I'm staring to see a bit more tone in my tummy, arms and legs now thank goodness. Will start doing the pilates and yoga after Christmas so I'm looking forward to that.

So all up I'm loving it and feeling great! Thanks to all who stopped in to see how I'm going, I hope everyone has a wonderful, happy and safe Christmas and I'll check in when I get back to see how it's all going.

Hi Suzie congrats on graduating over to re-feed. dont worry too much about ALL the food that you are being asked to eat. It is part of the program. I was a bit sceptical when I first read the re-feed program but I reasoned it out by saying that through experience I got to trust whatever Doc Cohen said I should do i would do it. It was a bit of a mountain towards the end like having two main meals at one time to finish it all.
I also thought would I get hooked on eating so much on re-feed that it would be hard to stop when I was free of the programmes. For me personally I havent had any problems out in the free world. It has now been three weeks since I graduated and I have continued to lose weight. I lost 1.6 kilo on maintenance and since being free have lost another 2. So I am now five kilos under my goal weight.
I am not measuring my food any more but have decided to skip many of the bad habits I had before I started Cohens last July. Like snacking in front of the TV. Coffee and soft drinks have not made it back on my menu whilst I have continued to ensure that I am having 3 litres of water per day. Maccas, KFC etc etc dont have the same appeal that they used to have prior to Cohens. Dont know about the taste coz I havent had any.
As for the huge quantities that I was having on re-feed. I havent gone beserk eating that quantity I am just having what I am feeling confortable with. So dont despair finish the program that the good Doc gave you. Then it will be up to you as to how you react to freedom. Personally I learnt plenty and now I am putting that experience to good use.

Suzie if I remember correctly one of your aims when you started this was to be comfortable in your swimmers at christmas - you have certainly made it there, dont forget to enjoy your achievements, great that everyone appreciates your hard work!

Default I'm baaack........

I hope everyone had a wonderful, happy Christmas. We just got back from the coast today and I am super tired but we had a ball at the beach every day, good to be back home though, you appreciate it more after being away for a while and having a break.

Now for the weight up date. I finished refeed just after Christmas at 53kg even, which I was very happy with. However, I did some celebrating down the coast with too much wine, champagne, nibbles and desserts and have crept up 2kg's . Tomorrow I am starting back on my original program until I'm back to 53kg, got to nip it in the bud asap now that the festivities are over and I'm confident I can lose this extra weight in a week or two sticking 100% to plan.

Have to say I didn't really enjoy the indulging and it has played havoc on my stomach and bowels TMI I know. I thought I would enjoy it more than I did, I think it is good news because now I can focus on losing those 2kg's gained and staying on the healthy path, I'm really looking forward to going back on program for a bit and then gradually having little treats here and there. I can relate to what AJ went through now, having celebrations and indulging directly after finishing refeed isn't good for the body but I've learned my lesson and now back to the healthy lifestyle I have been enjoying so much. I've been really sluggish and close your eyes boys....the thrush has returned, I have not had thrush since starting Cohens and now it's back....that speaks volumes as to what alcohol and preservatives etc do to my body, I feel like crap and can't wait to 'cleanse' myself of the toxins again and start fresh.

I did surprise myself at the coast though, I found myself jogging on the beach several times with the pup and loved it! I've NEVER been a jogger but it was fantastic so I've decided to do it on a regular basis now. I'll have to change my ticker...damn.

Well, that's me, I'll check in with some others and see how everyone went over Christmas, bet Louise has started refeed...must go see.

Suzie, the people who had to diet through Christmas and New Year don't realise how lucky they were. As we've both found, finishing the diet then being confronted with lots of food choices immediately (and I was quite careful) isn't a good way to start maintenance. Like you, I've found that many of the foods that I was looking forward to having don't taste as good as I remember. Unfortunately for me, sweet foods do, and they're what causes the weight to pile on for me.

I'm finding that the weight comes off very quickly without dieting as long as I eat Cohen style food. By that I mean no refined carbs, low carb vegetables, plenty of protein, some fruit and CBs. I'm trying as far as possible to avoid processed foods with additives, making almost everything myself from scratch.

You'll find that most of your two kilos is fluid, and it will be gone in no time. However, the real trick to maintenance is to be vigilant and to keep bringing your weight back down as soon as it goes up a bit.

Started 11/1/08. Lowest weight reached 63.8 kgs on 10/11/08 and 40 kgs down. Thank you Dr Cohen.
Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

I agree with AJ, relax, eat Cohen's friendly foods and the weight will fall off. I dropped a kilo today from doing just that.

And congratulations on finishing refeed. Are you going to join us in Maintenance Diary Land?

Thanks AJ and Loulou, yes I just realised I should pop over to maintenance land now.

I have been 100% on my original program today and feel SO much better, tummy aches gone etc. I also did some walking and jogging which I know we aren't supposed to do on the program but I figure I'll only be on my original program for a week or two so the excercise should be okay in that short time frame.

I will pop over and start a maintenance diary now...ooohhh that doesn't seem real somehow.
