Default Planning ahead food-wise if you will be out and about

Thought we could all share some tips on how to survive if you are going to be out for the day.....

Obviously it is easier if you can have a cold bag because you can take almost anything, but if you can't keep stuff cold:

- tinned tuna
- cooked, frozen portions of chicken etc - they will defrost on the go
- frozen soup

I took my cream of vege soup out with me the other day (which is a full meal - protein and vege) and some crackers. Heated it up in the microwave in the parents room (helps to have a toddler so anyone in there thinks it is for him!), sat in the foodcourt (with a spoon pinched from a coffee shop LOL) and at my crackers and soup. I would have eaten it cold if I had to.

I have read some suggestions on the forum about tinned asparagus but my program says vege must be fresh or frozen.

Actually my programme says tinned asparagus is ok - it was horrible though - so no eating of that here.

Yeah mine says tinned aspargus and mushrooms are okay, if in water only.
I have a tin of each in the cupboard for any emergency / vegie crisis!

I think that the best advise is to have some food in the freezer - At least 7 meals. This way if you get caught out, get home late or aren't feeling 100%.

I know this has saved me a few times now.
Last week a friend dropped by unannounced so I got two meals out - One for me and one for her. She loved it, and best of allit was healthy and we saved on an expensive meal out
