Default Should I Refeed?

Hi,

This Saturday ( 15/9/2010) will be my 6 Months on Cohens. I started at 108kg's and am now 69kg's. (Yes, I have lost 39kgs!!!) I am still well above my "ideal weight" according to the program, however i have started getting random bruises on my legs, feeling really limp, and getting fairly hungry.

Not sure if i should start my refeed now, or whether i should just ignore the signs and press on untill i reach the top of my goal?

Hey Tammy!

Welcome to the forum! Holy smokes!!! Well done on losing 39 kilos!!!!!!!!!

Have you spoken to your clinic? Do you have your refeed plan ready?? I am no expert at knowing when a person is ready for refeed... I had signs, like EXTREME hunger, but I thought I was being a wuss... I went and saw my consultant, and she was like 'girl,, you are ready for refeed' and she literally put me on it then and there, and I increased my food THAT night!

So, my suggestion would be to see your consultant.

Are you actually having trouble sticking to the plan?

Let us know!
And again, WELL DONE!

xoxo

Hi Tammy,

I started refeed above my goal weight on the recommendation of my clinic. My body had just had enough and they took one look at me and said start NOW!!!

I agree with Missy, you need to contact your clinic. They are the best people to advise you on refeed.

Good luck.

P.S Oh and well done on 39 kgs. That is fantastic.

You've done so well! Congratulations!!

Agree you should talk to your clinic but it might be worth waiting a few days to see if the hungries pass. I have had them on and off for a couple of weeks but nothing that I couldn't cope with and really pleased I have waited.

The other stuff could be a number of things you might want to check out with your GP and get a blood test for anaemia etc.

Congrats on loosing so much weight Tammy!!

I can tell you from experience that on and off I have felt limp or weak) for a big part of the programme. At times I have found it really hard to deal with but managed to stay 100% to plan and I have to say I am TOTALLY happy that I did. I was told even by my consultant to maybe stop but I knew I could go longer, what I did do (which was right for me but I am not recommending this for you at all) is get a new plan. It migt sound odd to some but I had m old plan for over a year and found it just wasn't giving me the results and I was feeling weak and dizzy. On my new plan I got +1 extra fruit and +1 extra cracker, which seems meanial but it 100% stopped my dizzieness and I hardly felt weak.

What you could ask your consultant about is adding in an extra fruit and cracker to keep you going till you get closer to your goal? It's worth it if it helps to achieve what you set out too albeit possibly slower than before.

All the best and goodluck

xx nic

Hey Tammy

I am so interested in your post because I am feeling the same. I've lost 34kg in just under 6 months, still 10kg to my Cohen's goal weight and am wondering if I should consider refeed. My goal weight seems 5kg too low for me and I am beginning to exercise because my body and mind are craving it, plus I don't really know what my body truely looks like because I'm so saggy. Things are getting very complicated. I am dropping the centimetres but very little weight now. I have been avoiding the clinic too because I found that I left depressed rather than motivated. I am a little nervous about asking my consultant about refeed and am frustrated that I should feel this way.

Keen to hear what you decide to do

Catherine

Catchbug...

Just a reminder.. as you exercise you are going to start building muscle that your body has probably lost alot of.. so your weight is going to go up a bit with that also..

I definately think if you CAN hold out do it.. but you know your body and you have to be happy with your decision.

Hi,

Well I'm about 2kg's above my goal weight but decided it was time! Constant tummy grumbling, lots of bruises, and the excruciating pain of wanting to know what refeed is all about has become unbearable!
Should get my refeed program Wednesday!
I can't wait!!

I'm another one who was above my goal weight when I started refeed, Tammy. I was planning to continue to goal, but my consultant decided that there were enough signals from my body for me to start refeed. Discuss it with your consultant. Is your body shape consistent with your goal weight (mine isn't)?

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).
