Default Doing Cohen's again!-Will it work?

Hi Cohenites!

Have been breakin my head on a dilemma

I finished my plan successfully in 2014 but did not maintain at all...instead, I ballooned right back up and gained 46 kg😞(10kg heavier than when I first began).

I am thinking of going back on my old plan, but am concerned if it will work. Should I get a new plan? What do you think? I am really confused

Hey Butterfly

Welcome back!

Mercury must be retrograde .... there are a lot of return Cohenites on the Board at the moment!

My 2006 program was 11 years ago. I redid the (same) full program in 2008 and that worked well, but the 2011 effort just didn't 'gel' .... I lost the weight, did the Refeed, but nope! the magic had gone.

So this time, I signed up with the Melbourne Gardenvale Clinic and bought a whole new Program!

It is quite different than 2006 - I am, after all, eleven years older! The ingredients are the same (except for brussels sprouts and some changes with cooking oils) but the weights and measure are significantly different

I figure, what I am not spending at BWS and at Woollies over the next few months will more than pay for the Program, and this way I do all the Blood Tests, get support from the Consultant, and get Refeed as well.

I personally thought it would be a false economy to drag out the 2006 program again. I don't want to put in all this effort, time, trouble and deprivation if I am not completely committed to it, and putting money on the table reinforces my commitment.

So as someone who has recycled the original program twice, I wanted to make sure I had the right tools for the job this time as I had, the first time.

My Vote is go with a new Program for a New You.

Lotsa love
Kristine

Hi Butterfly,

Your words infer that you had completed Refeed and then went on into Maintenance back in 2014. That is important, as, if you hadn't done Refeed, etc, my following thoughts WON'T apply to you - they are ONLY for maintainers.

Like Kristine, I also think a new Plan is always the best way to go, and I mention why in this post:-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...269#post446269

But then, there also can be reasons why "maintaining down" can be valid too. So have a read of that post, and also read the linked post that I send you to from that post, and see what you think after that.

There are good reasons to go either way. Good luck with the decision,

Koh

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Hi Kristine and Koh!!

Thanks a ton for your replies!!

I feel like putting the money on the table seals my commitment as well, because of numerous failed day one's from trying to go back on my first plan.

Am also concerned that even if i lose weight and do refeed with the old plan, i won't be able to maintain it because the plan isnt designed fr my current body.

And like Koh said, I want to make sure im losing weight healthily and not just starving myself!

I called my consultant abt this, who told me to try my old plan for a month to see if it works. If the weight doesnt drop or drops too slowly, I will get a new plan!

Hi Butterfly
I'm waiting on the arrival of my second plan.
I have completed the program about 6yrs ago and like you never did maintainance, so hear I am, doing it again.
Your body changes so much and so do our hormones, and this is why new programs are needed. For me it was the cost factor in getting a new program but my health is more important to me at the moment along with my happiness.
Good luck Butterfly and I hope to be watching your journey.

Hi BF94,

Welcome Back!!!

I'm back too! Not sure if you remember me, but I completed Cohen's in 2014 too. I maintained for about 1.5 years and then ate and drank too much and gained back 2/3 of what I lost.

With regards to the old plan, I decided I would give it 2 weeks on my old plan and see how it goes before deciding to order a new plan. Well, I have now lost 7.8kg in 3 weeks which is far more that I had lost the first time around so I'm sticking with my old plan for now.

I have heard that a lot of people who have reordered end up with almost the exact same plan anyway. But - also, a lot of people say that spending the money for the new plan is motivation enough to stay on it.

Ultimately, its up to you!!!

Good luck and I look forward to seeing you back in the forum and losing with the rest of us!

i'm back after 10 years and using my old plan.... i regained all of my weight - slowly at first- put back on about 10 after my partner moved in and my food habits changed to suit him.... then i had a baby and gained about 30kg when pregnant because all i could stomach was plain pasta and vegemite toast.... carbs carbs carbs!!

i have lost 6kg in 2 weeks so i'm going to stick with the old plan... i simply can't afford a new one at the moment....
