Hey PW
Stress less .. it's all good.. it's all listed in your program.. but for the heads up.. skippy, cow & baby cow are the red meat you can eat.. As in roo, beef & veal (NO LAMB).. with the meat it's suggested to go for lean cuts & if you want mince meat get the butcher to mince a good lean piece of beef for you.. dont be tempted to buy the low fat mince as it's not low fat enough etc.. If you can manage to buy some really good quality cuts I think it's worth it.. while it is a bit more expensive, for the amount we eat I think it's quite cost effective.. we should get the best as that's all we get.. you know?! |

Re: Red meat
Could anyone suggest what beef cuts do you use for steak? I first bought tenderloin and it was pretty lean. When i went back to buy another slab, it was pretty marbled and I'm so disappointed because I don't know what to do so with so much meat now. 🙁

I use rump and just cut the edge fat off. I try and get it from the butcher so I can choose my pieces but sometimes make do with the supermarket ones ☺️

Re: Red meat
Why not go the eye fillet steak? It cooks up, and is eaten, so easily and the result is almost "melt in your mouth". But yeah, it costs around $40 a Kg - but (depending on your plan) you are only paying around $5 to $7 a meal.
As Faithy said "It's all we get, so why not buy the best?" and I totally agree. As well as that, eye fillet is typically quite lean - and delicious. Rib fillet is quite fatty, so I'd steer clear of that. Quote:

Re: Red meat
Well, my mom is not on the diet so she's going to finish it up. Plus, she was the one who bought it. I feel that the marbling (Which is not ALOT but I feel enough to possibly be not lean enough) should be because of the fat. But my mom reckons that it is due to the sinew. But I don't feel safe jepodising my diet on technicality.
