Default Re-starting again

I have been reading diaries and getting inspiration from this forum for quite sometime and now its time to start myself!

My first attempt at Cohens was in 2016, but I never reached re-feed
I had many failed attempts throughout 2017, but due to medical reasons and lack of commitment I kept falling off the wagon and adding another kilo or two!

Yesterday was my new day 1, a new start. I am getting married early April and I am committed to loosing at least 15kg before the end of March. I have a fair bit more than that to go, but I am being realistic!
I stuck to plan without too many problems yesterday as I was still stuffed full after all the Christmas excess!

Day 2 today and so far all is going well. Every-time I think of foods I shouldn't, I think of myself on my wedding day! Its working so far.
The weekends are the hardest for me, the lack of routine plays havoc with me, so that shall be the first most difficult task to get over.

Todays menu -
B - Mushroom omelette (same pretty much everyday)
L - Tuna and spinach
D - chicken and Cauli

The wedding countdown is on!! 90 days to go until I say 'I do'

Hi whippygeorge,

Welcome! Good to have you here! I’m also a second time around-er. I completed the program but didn’t do refeeding - the most important part! Anyho, I think I few people, me included, find that it can take a few goes to get all the stars to align properly for a successful go on Cohen’s. Because I knew what I was getting myself into this time, I think my commitment and dedication is stronger than it was the first time. Hopefully it is the same for you too.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! It’s a great goal to look forward to.

Best of luck, keep us updated on your progress

Hi WG

I was the same as Stella, lost some weight but didn't do refeed, hence my 2nd plan & serious attempt. Must admit, found this attempt easier as I already knew what to expect.

It is truly all in the mind, damn it!
Take care
Luv Jen

Hi Stella and findingme,

Thanks for the welcome, it looks like we are all in the same situation!

Well week 1 is done and I'm proud of myself so far - 4kg gone!!

The weekend was no where near as hard as I thought, I think because I am so determined this time, hopefully it will continue this way. I made it through without crying in a corner whilst hugging a bottle of wine!!

I will try and be more active and post a little more often.

Week 1 - 4kg gone!

Hi Whippy,

I am a little different to you, i finished, did refeed and maintained for around 7 years. then got divorced, got bullied at work, got stressed and turned back to comfort foods and eating my problems.

I did it again in 2016 but didnt go all the way to goal and rebounded badly.

i am now on day 9 of my 3rd time lucky

The biggest challenge to doing the program is getting your head right. The first time i did my 26 weeks deviation free, attended 4 weddings and holidayed in Fiji all staying on plan, teh second time was the same., but when i started to rebound and even after that I struggled to make it through a week without deviation because I couldnt get the switch in my head to turn to "on". once it on I can go for months with no deviations, but if it isn't turned to on i could deviate because the sky is blue.

Whenever you get low on Motivation pop in here and look at your posts, get your motivation from the determination you had to succeed.

Keep up the good work.

ConnieK

Hi WG

Same as ConnieK, the head space is vital, wish we just had a switch to easily turn it on!

Did someone say "Motivation?"

Had to respond - I especially love Michelle's comment "Like a bad boyfriend, motivation will ultimately let you down......." - the best answer is:-

I made it through another weekend, although this one was a bit harder than the last. Meals this weekend have consisted of a beef soup, chicken, fish, prawns, cottage cheese.

Weigh in day for me is Wednesday, but I have a sneaky look each day and my weight loss has really slowed down. I know its only week 2, but i thought week 2 would still be a better loss, I have a long way to go! I know it works though and I will keep going, i'm sure the scales will drop for me soon.

Its the wet season here right now and we have been getting some lovely rain, its great to get out and see the beautiful waterfalls, it also keeps me busy and takes my mind off food!

Wedding plans are coming along thick and fast, i cant believe how fast it is coming around. It has been in the planning for a few years now, probably should have got my weight loss act together a bit earlier I'm starting to get excited and cant wait to jet off to Italy in March!!

That is indeed motivation! x

Today is weigh in day for week 2 and I'm happy to say goodbye to 2.5kg this week!

After my struggle through the weekend the rest of the week has been a lot easier. I have a pretty consistent routine which makes life easier. Everyday I have egg for breakfast, I find that an egg keeps me full and I really enjoy it. It's nearly always with mushrooms, which I used to hate! I eat A LOT of mushrooms these days!
I try and make sure that i have my lunch prepared the night before and it is usually the same as what i had for dinner. I try to be creative with my dinners and mix it up so that I don't get bored. I have mostly been successful in my experiments, with just the odd failure! Zucchini is also a major staple in my diet along with the mushrooms.

This weekend I have a BBQ to attend and I think it will be my first major test as I haven't socialised for the last few weeks. I will make sure to take plenty of soda water and my own meat and salad, or maybe I will make some kebabs. I'm hoping I don't get asked too many questions about my eating habits, everyone knows that the wedding is coming up so hopefully they will leave me to it. I will drive so that i don't have to contend with all the no drinking questions.

Week 1 - 4kg gone!
Week 2 - 2.5kg (6.5kg total)

Hi Whippygeorge,

Looks fine here -
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showpos...80&postcount=5

Updated too, based on your words today. Mind you, that was in a post - and your ticker should reside in your signature instead. There is a link that talks about creating a ticker and putting it in the right place - here:-

Hope that helps,

So its not been a great week. It started off ok, then over the last 3 days I have put weight on each day, this has led to a teeny tiny 200 gram loss this week

Its hard to comprehend that when your eating so little you can actually put weight on! So a few things that may have been the cause ( I thought they may stall me, but not lead to weight gain) -

1. I went for a big hike on Sunday, I live in the tropics and its around 40 degrees and very high humidity
2. On the same Sunday I had T-bone steak. It was a big dry-aged piece and so my other half portioned me a piece AFTER it was cooked
3. I ate about 10 grams more Zucchini than I should have on Monday night

I drink ample water and always have, no soft drinks apart from the occasional soda water, I don't like sweet pop.
I do over 10,000 steps and walk for a minimum of 30 mins every day.

I wont be giving in, I shall keep powering on and put it down to one of those weeks and hope everything kicks off again this week. I do my measurements on Fridays and so I will see what happens with those.

Onwards and upwards - something must be happening, I still have a loooonnnggggg way to go!!!

Week 1 - 4kg gone!
Week 2 - 2.5kg (6.5kg total)
Week 3 - 0.2kg (6.7kg total)

I've had one of those weeks too! Hang in there, it will come off eventually. I guess this is why we shouldn't weigh so often - our weight fluctuates but the overall trend is downwards. If we weigh too often (like I do) I think that I've done something wrong but it's just my body adjusting to the new way of eating etc.

You've made a great start! Keep up the good work

Louise
