Default Round 2 - and here we go again

2nd time in the same situation - I congratulated myself quite a bit for not being over 100kgs (I was 120kgs at the time) - I had some medical issues re-arise and my feet were swelling up at the end of the day so I knew that my weight had crept back up - the proverbial hit the fan when I jumped on the scale and saw a 150 looking back at me.

The thing about being too PC is you don’t get a punch in the face that is needed sometimes. No one (not even myself) told me that I was as big as I was and slowly killing myself (again). Sometimes I wish someone had said soemthing because I have been cruising along in life like I have a perfect BMI, have loads of energy & not worried or even thinking about my weight.

I recently got punched in the face (not literally) - I got into my best friends van and couldn’t do the seatbelt up? I drove my sons car and my side was so hard up against the seatbelt holder my leg was bruised? I bought a size 4XL hoodie and couldn’t zip it up? - that, my friends is a classic KO not a TKO but full blown knocked out.

So I turned to my tried and true friend Dr Cohen. I even went to the extreme of getting a whole new program. I like the routine involved and weigh out 15 days of meat so it’s from payday to payday. Online shopping has saved my life cause I order my groceries and they are delivered when I get home from work with my last meat for the fortnight all ready to go. I have set alarms on my iPhone/I watch so I know when to eat and have clothes from the first time from size 30 to size 12 in my closet or storage.

The first time was really quick thinking back - I did miss a lot of morning tea shouts at work, buffets with my friends, beers with mates but looking back it was just postponed not forever and a journey that went by very quickly and so here I am again - round 2

Hi Justa,
In your Diary Approval Request, you mentioned not being able to find your old Diary. Fortunately, I have super-powers, so was able to find it for you
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13824

If you go there, you'll be able to reacquaint yourself with your past history. It is quite a tale, and is worthy of a reread. You achieved a helluva lot in that time - a shame that others helped to de-rail you though.

Anyway, here you are again - you know you can do this, 'cos you already have done a large part of it. This time though, go right on through and get to the prize - Refeed and Maintenance - because that is where you will learn the lifetime lessons that will help you stay slim.

Rock on Justa,

Koh

Wow - just read my first diary and it was sobering reading. Now I’ve read it I feel like it was only yesterday I was writing that diary - the obsession of it all and the millions of mini-goals that literally kept me going. I’m a very competitive person particularly with myself (if that makes sense). And in that journey I can see the freak out starting to happen and I’m so glad that is an honest account of my precious journey because the exact same things are happening now.

I haven’t told anyone (again), I am having the same struggles with my clothes (again) and how they refuse to fit properly (again) - what I can take from that is I’ve done it before and can definately do it again. I still weigh weekly as a motivator - I feel like I have too I’m too impatient to wait a whole month I need more regular real time updates - that’s just me though.

I’m off to set some mini goals - never thought about them until I re-read my last diary but they are great motivators and should definately be celebrated and strived for

Hi Justa,
I am glad you reread your old one - and I'm sure it held all sorts of emotions in it. I think it is important to be aware of just how emotional this long journey could end up being. I have followed countless Cohenites who have stared down long journeys, and most say the same. One of the biggest learnings is how to learn to cope with the emotions that pop up along the way.

From what I gather, it is almost like the layers of fat hold special memories - and not all good, though some certainly are - and that they become released as you shrink. e.g. it may come from (say) being a size16 once again, and it puts you in mind of a special occasion/dress/partner again. Many diaries are chockfull of the kinds of emotions that are brought up as the Cohenites progressed. For that reason, it is well worth thinking about HOW you might hanadle this kind of thing.

For some, just knowing it can send you reeling is enough - they accept this and walk on through it. Others might need some kind of help to process what they are going through. We are all different, and only you will know what you might need. But the good thing about here is that you can check out the paths of those who have gone before.

You might start by accessing the stories of those who took the time to reply in your old diary. They might have offered advice, or motivation, or a shoulder to cry on at tough times, etc. Those who have similarly needed to shed 50Kgs or more are likely to be well in tune with what you will face, so read their stories to see how they handled their path.

Other than that, check out the later gems ( http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...294#post193294 ) where I highlight what I believe to be posts of consdierable worth, and I link you to them. That one I started you at is about halfway through the whole topic of "Gems" and is a post that Shanara made. Now I think if you read al of Shanara's journey, it may well answer a whole lot of things for you.

Also, I recall that ButterflyDreamin (who replied in your diary) also has a host of really good things to say in/around the forum. So do go check out her thoughts too.

You might even want to follow some of the Hall of Fame folks - check it out here http://newyouforum.com/forum/view.php?pg=nyf_hof You'll see ButterflyDreamin right near the top as she shed nearly 80Kgs on her path.

Grab onto the coat-tails of someone who inspires you, Justa, and keep your eyes firmly on the prize. Go get it, champ !!

Koh

Thanks Koh - I have been trawling through the hall of fame and readin diaries like mad. I’m glad everyone is so honest it really helps on reflection as I found out - even though most finished A LONG time ago the journey is the same - and always relevant. It’s strangely comforting knowing that someone has been where I am now and came out the other end successful.

Today, for some unknown reason, I was tired all day. I guess my work week had a bigger toll then usual and I had a nana nap between lunch and dinner I just could not keep my eyes open. I actually missed my afternoon tea but that’s fine by the time I woke up it was time to start making dinner.

I’ve taken my vitamins but I guess getting up at 5am is no longer a good idea lol. -by the time I have my breakfast at 7.30 I’m really hungry I might try getting up at 6am then it’s not such a long wait.

Anyways I hope everyone else is having a better time, I’m mid week 3 and haven’t deviated at all - or felt the urge too either

I had a whole thing typed up and then realised I didn’t log in - far out

So the small changes

1. Tighten watch strap - my watch is not sitting sraightbbut rather is flipping to the side
2. Can step out of my shoes when walking - feet no longer swelling at the end of the day - this cracks me up everytime
3. Can breath when I lie flat - means I sleep through the night and don’t wake so much
4. Pants aren’t rolling in my back rolls lol so I don’t have to continuously pull them down LOL

Small changes for me but massive reward from my body for starting this journey (again). I’m as organised this time as I was last time maybe a bit more so this time and the small changes are making a huge difference for me personally - it’s also pushing and keeping the motivation going.

I’m almost at week 4 (Wednesday) so next Wednesday I’ll be having my first blood test and official weigh in

Hi Justa,
Hey, you really are sounding great - seems like some big switch has clicked ON !!

Bummer about the Login - maybe do what I do - I clicked "Remember Me" and I NEVER Logout. I just open the website, and there I am - logged in, ready to go, whether I post or not doesn't matter - I don't lose anything.

When I read those four things (the watch, your shoes, breathing, etc) it put me in mind of this topic:-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...t=5249&page=14

Why not add those thoughts in that thread, so others in future (who might never find your diary) can read of your findings and the happiness that goes along with them. Staying happy is so important on Cohens - and it seems to me you are doing that well - do keep it up.

Rock on champ,
Koh

Hi

I seem to have got myself into a good routine and it’s the same everyday which I actually Like. I prefer it because it takes the guess work out of the equation. Get up make lunch tidy house , make breakfast go to work. That’s my whole morning in a nutshell - then at night it’s basically get home make dinner eat dinner, watch news then Concentrate on finishing my water allowance for the day whilst catching up with family.

Even if i have finished my eating by 6pm I’m good for the rest of the night and don’t get hunger pangs at all. That tells me that my eating is perfectly timed - and I’m glad I sleep through the whole night otherwise I’m sure if I woke I would be or get hungry earlier then the time I’ve allocated for breakfast.

I’m happy with how everything is going at the moment and can’t believe it’s almost been a full 3wks since I restarted - the time is going so quick this time round even though I’m pretty sure I’m as obsessed about this as I was last time.

I still haven’t told anyone I’m doing this - that part I like to keep to myself for a while yet. I found there’s more pressure if others know and constant questions ‘how much have u lost now?’ These are questions I would like to avoid as long as possible - added pressure is not something I need and anyways I don’t feel the need to explain myself or what’s happening to my body to anyone else ever -

Hi Just!! I hear you about not letting people know what you are doing. It DOES add pressure. A lot of people think I have lost weight due to health issues. I'm quite happy for them to think that because they wont nag me to eat more.

Glad that you are experiencing some changes already - they are awesome motivators. It will only be a few weeks and as you know from past experience, you will be seeing a lot more. The mini goals are what motivate me too and yeah I'm very competitive with myself. I'm going to have to make some time to read your old diary. I'm sure it will help keep me motivated. I have restarted the EP more than a couple of times. The first time was 108kg this time 140kg. I started out strong in 2015 and by May was down to 94. I pretty much stayed there most of the last 18 months, never went over, but did get to 83 at one stage. This year I got it together and am down to 69 since January. We are all different and progress at different rates but it's amazing what can be achieved in 1/4 of a year even. That's nothing in the big scheme of time. You sound really focused. Looking forward to hearing how you are going. It's exciting reading everyone's progress but for me personally because I had big numbers to lose, even more so when it's someone who was up near my weight. Be very proud of yourself for doing this, it's a major accomplishment for your health and state of mind and a lot of people never start because they are daunted by the numbers they have to lose. Hope you have an awesome week!!

Hi

So today marks the end of week 3 and I weighed myself (I weigh weekly - personal preference). I’m happy to say I’ve broken the 10kg mark already. I’m down to 141.5kgs total 10.3kg loss.

Said goodbye to 150s - so close to leaving 140s and most of all I’m pleased to say that I did nothing special - just followed a plan I know is going to work and let what will be, be. My next mini goal is to leave the 140s in my dust and concentrate on the 130s.

My first official weigh in and blood test is in a weeks time at which point I’m hoping to be in the 130s - my clothes aren’t squeezing the life out of me anymore and I’m going to have to buy new underwear - $8 for 5prs sounds good to me, I don’t want to spend too much money on new clothes cause I know they are only going to fit temporarily. I’m so happy my body is 100% on board!!!!

Hi

I’m not sure if it’s the fact I’m 10kgs down or if it’s just one of those days - today I’m feeling positive about it all - I’ve got a morning tea thingy this morning where u donate money and pick a slice, biscuit, savoury etc. i have donated money and gave my food to someone else who didn’t quite make it in time.

Win for me win for the long term.” - I’m absolutely determined to have my body in a better place by summer and am looking forward to getting rid of the parachute type clothing I had to wear last summer.

Hi

So glad it’s friday - hasn’t been a hard week at work but it’s nice to have a couple days off to reboot. It’s getting so cold here (chc, nz) and winter is definately going to be a cold one this year.

I’m so pleased there is a hall of fame and love reading through the diaries that are linked. I think faithys one in particular rings true with me cause I have the same amount to lose. I’ve read through most of it and whilst I know there are similarities I’m aware my body may react differently - but am comforted that it will happen given time and by simply following the plan -

I love love love asys? Sticky post on deviations - so true and I think everyone needs a good old fashioned ‘reminder’ like that. I’m spurred on by cost I mean if you are going to pay $1k for something u better be 100% committed because I sure Don’t have the luxury of doing that multiple times in quick succession

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Hi

I took my measurements this morning and glad to say I’ve lost 86cms from all over the place - seems mainly bust and waist is going the fastest so far. I’ve noticed my stomach isn’t so bloated anymore but it means the front of my shirts are stretched but it’s fine, I expected it - I’m still not buying new clothes but now have the task of going through the clothes I’ve put away and hung in the back of the wardrobe.

I’m looking forward to doing this cause I have some pretty awesome clothes albeit in smaller sizes. It will be nice to stop buying pants with stretchy waistbands and do up a pair of pants with a button and then sit down lol without the button popping.

Tops, jerseys, jackets & jeans all there like a jack in the box ready to jump out. I use to see them as a waste of money now I see them as incentives - goals to aim for can’t wait. It’s been a long time since I had options on what to wear - gotta keep the positive thinking and motivation Alive and kicking and so I try to make goals, incentives and even challenges out of everything

You are sounding great, in charge, focussed, and walking the walk. Well done. To help with the positive thinking, I wonder if this thread might help....

I am pleased you have read Asy's and Faithy's journeys - they were indeed both very focussed and so are great role models for you,

Hi

Checking out those posts - they are all still relevant and very helpful I can see myself reading and re-reading then coming back a bit further on and reading again. I know the dreaded plateau is going to happen it’s just a matter of when. I guess when my body is going to reset itself it’s just another ride I have to endure.

I’m armed with something I lacked last time - patience and knowledge. In hindsight 9mths isn’t that long which is how long it took to lose the last 50+ kgs, it’s less than a year - why not give myself a whole year of focus? I know that breaking 120kgs has always been hard and that’s the point at which I gave up Jenny Craig & weight watchers cause I just couldn’t break it - 3wks I sat on it and the scale refused to flip over to 119 - however, I read my last list of achievements on Cohen’s and 120 was this programs bee-@rch so I’m looking forward to it lol.

Made choc chip muffins today for the family - it so hard to ice without actually tasting, but I still didn’t do it ahahha I figure if it’s gross they wouldn’t of gone in one sitting!!! Although the smell was Devine this is another challenge I’ve given myself - Sunday baking for the family and none for me. It wasn’t so long ago I could quite easily of poured a cuppa and eaten half a dozen of those and thought nothing of it - this year I’m being selfish!!! I’m putting myself, my body and my health first

Hi

The start of a new week and I’m mid week 4 - official weigh in is Wednesday which is when I will have my first blood test. I’m lucky because there is a med lab right around the corner from where I work so I’ll do it in my lunch time. I haven’t noticed any changes physically yet - I mean in my mind, I know I’ve lost cms and scale weight but it just doesn’t feel that way.

I’m not being negative nor do I feel down about it cause it’s going to be a long process. I’ve broken my weight loss goals (more mini goals) into percentages so I’m going 5% rather than an actual scale weight loss if that makes sense.

I’m halfway through corbynsmum’s diary and can relate to so many things - she was so positive during her whole journey and that’s how I plan to be - not sure on reality but for now I’m happy to just follow the plan 100% and let my body do it’s thing

hey Justa with regards to the plateau, i didnt hit one the second time. it seems the body pauses at weights we spent a long time at, but i can honestly say the second time i never had a plateau just lost it all quick

I'm hoping the third time is the charm (lesson learned, go all the way to goal or back it comes

keep on kicking it!

Hi

Yay people!!!! Not that your not people Koh lol. I think this forum is invaluable for putting ya thoughts, feelings l, accomplishments and failures in one place - it’s a pity that things like FB groups have taken over the world. I like having everything in the one place (in a diary form) where u can go over your own personal journey and see weveryrhing you went through at once. Also, with like minded individuals that share their journeys as well. And I love the way everyone is honest and it’s not competitive - I do compare myself to others results but I’m not changing anything to specifically beat someone and I’m not feeling down if I didn’t lose as much in the same amount of time.

It’s such a personal thing and it’s good to have someone’s else’s diary to look at. All the information in this forum is invaluable. Literally anything I’m going through, someone on here has been through and survived it, which is comforting.

Almost at the end of week 4 official weigh in tomorrow and can’t wait to see and record it. It’s soemthing I can leave behind - physically it’s great and mentally it’s motivating - will post an update tomorrow YIPPEE!!

Not that your not people Koh lol.
Haha - no, I'm just a big ol' Basset Hound !! I love people, and I especially love those who are helping themselves in such a massive way.

You keep on enjoying the various posts, Just, and keep your own diary steaming all the way to goal and beyond. In that way, your own words may well be helping someone else who is coming (or yet to come) up behind you.

I love this place - can you tell?

Koh

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!
