Default Megsyd’s Diary

Hi all
I started Cohen’s on Sunday March 23rd, so day 5 for me today. I’m aiming to lose 22 kilos. I have 3 full on active boys and a husband! Tried lots of diets over the past few years, nothing was shifting the weight. I’ve actually gained most of this weight in the last 6.5 years, since turning 40. Hopefully this works!!Going well so far, no cravings but have felt a bit hungry. I’ve been reading lots of completed diaries so feeling motivated. Trying not to stand on the scales! I’m going to use this diary to try and stay accountable, plus hopefully have support from others on the plan. Cheers

Hi Megsyd,

Congratulations for starting Cohen's! If you stick to the plan, you'll reach your goal - guaranteed! When I did it first time, I lost over 22kg in 14 wks (including refeed). Unfortunately, I adopted my old bad habits and over the years put it on again. I'm doing it over again and I'm in week 6, with 13kg gone so far.

This is the best diet I have ever done, and I've tried many. It's very regimented which is the only way for me, so it works. Sometimes you feel a little hungry, but the amazing losses keep you going. I weigh daily as it motivates me (most days I see a loss), but each to their own and most are advised to do it weekly, which is probably best. Are you planning to weigh-in weekly?

Set yourself some goals and non-food rewards along the way and good luck!

Marc

Hi Megsyd,
Good for you for starting. Some face a kind of "detox" for a few days - hopefully, if that was you, things should be looking brighter by now.
Keep reading as you travel this path - there is a lot to learn, and feel free to ask anything in here.

Here's a topic that might (or might not) help you - a mixture of thoughts within, so DO read from end-to-end before making any decisions for yourself. Of course, it might be that it doesn't apply to you at all - that's OK too.

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Day 6 - I took your advice and stood on the scales Koh to see at 2.5 kilo loss!! Woohoo. I haven’t been able to lose weight like that ever. It’s weird, I have no cravings! Last night I went with a friend and our two 13 year olds to see their school musical. Normally we’d have dinner and a couple of glasses of wine beforehand. My friend had a thai beef salad, I’d eaten before we left so was happy with a Coke Zero! Unheard of especially on a Friday night. Now I just need to get through Saturday and Sunday 😬😬😬I’ll do my meal plan for next week today so should be all good. Really happen with it all so far!

Hi again,
Glad the "jump the scales" topic was a positive for you.

Well, that is good news then, as weight gained quickly is typically lost quickly too. One thing to watch though, would be that things might slow down once you get into "older weight" (any weight that you gained from your earlier years). Don't be discouraged by that though - it will come off a whole lot quicker than it went on.

Have a Search for "the Zone" too - your comment here tells me you might have already made it there:-

Many in earlier years talked of this Zone, where things were just easy, and they were "happily living in a Cohens bubble" while they shed the weight.
The one thing to watch for was any sudden errors, best described in the "Back on the Bus" topic -

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7521

Have a read of that as it brings a good understanding (along with some humour) of what happens inside the body if you suddenly step outside the "Cohen bubble"...... This little story might help you to stay strong when Auntie Jean says "Oh, you MUST have a taste of my sponge cake - just a little won't hurt!"
Though the writer seems to mix up the Bus with a Car at times, the storyline itself is the good stuff, so do take the lesson from it and use it to good effect, and you'll be sweet.

Well done Megsyd, nice work! I'm even more encouraged that you're happy and in the zone - that first week loss does keep you motivated as you go forward into wk 2, wk 3 etc. Hope the rest of the weekend went well for you!
