Thanks Peter, much appreciated. Shouldn't be too much trouble, as I'm going back to my Maiden name, and have ID already, so just a matter of the painful ringing everyone. And even if things stay in the married name for a while, it shouldn't matter... I will let you know if I need help, though.

Well, tonight I had some ice cream. I usually have fruit salad for supper, but tonight my daughter had a bowl with me and we put some ice cream into it. She had three scoops, I had one. I ate half my scoop and gave the rest to her. It's FAR too rich for me. It was yummy, but I don't think I'll be going back to eating ice cream regularly anytime soon.

Actually, the ice cream has made me feel a little unwell. I was recently given a gift of some gorgeous smelling Dark Chocolate and I was going to have a little tonight with a cuppa after supper, but I think I'll wait as I'm not going to enjoy it now I'm feeling eeeky. Oh well, never mind, gotta learn my parameters somehow.

Hi Asy,

Congrats ! It's done and dusted. You have achieved what most people in the world would have considered impossible. You lost 88kg in less than 12 months without drugs, operations, fad shakes or any other witchcraft. 5 months ago I would have that it impossible too.

Here's to your new life. I can't tell you how happy I am for you.

Thanks Baloo!!!

And, ya forgot the best bit...

NO HANGY SKIN!!!

That's the most amazing thing, everyone I've seen who's lost anywhere near this amount has required huge and extensive surgery to remove excess skin. Not this little black duck. It's shrinking back as we speak! I know it'll take a year or so to get 'perfect' but I should be 'bathers-able' by next xmas!

asy, congratulations! What an amazing achievement, and an inspiration to everyone.

WELCOME TO THE REST OF YOUR LIFE MY FRIEND!

One tip if I may....continue to keep a food diary, I find it really helps me keep myself in check.

PS: I still weigh my yogurt too, but I've increased the amount to 200grams each morning plus my stewed apple...yummo.

Thanks Jo,

I am still weighing my yoghurt, but I'm having 185ish grams, I was having 175. I find that's enough. I have a slice of toast too, with mashed banana on it. I mash half the banana onto the toast and chop the other half into the yoghurt. It's amazing and yummy. That, with a cup of tea, is enough.

Then morning tea is still an apple.

Lunch today will be chicken salad, a-la cohens.

Supper still fruit salad, but I'm adding a little vanilla yoghurt (Fat free variety!).

Dunno what dinner is tonight, but I suspect it'll be cohens-ish. No point wasting my yum stuff for just anytime.

And, I plan to have a HAMBURGER on the weekend, so, I'm paying for it during the week, if you know what I mean.

Might even have some chocolate tonight, but I'll see how I feel.

Yup, I am glad I did it, Pudge. Haven't bothered with the utilities, I don't think I will bother, coz hopefully we won't be here long.

By the way, I've had a number of PM's from worried people asking me whether I'm going to be 'hanging around the forum' now that I'm finished the programme.

Other than the fact that, for those who don't know, I own the forum so it'd be a little difficult for me to leave without it all going south, I just wanted to say that DON'T WORRY, I have absolutely no plans to leave. I plan to annoy you all for ages yet.

I love this forum. I love the energy here, the people, and the fact that (I believe) it's helping people. This is exactly what I wanted to achieve in starting it. I'm really proud of the forum, and I have absolutely no intention of leaving.

hope that allays some fears.

It is just amazing, to lose 88KG of unhealthy you and release the new you underneath. The pictures you posted also tell the story, for you maybe not a huge difference as you looked at yourself everyday for a year...not seeing the daily changes, yet 365 days latter the change is absolutely staggering.

I am in Hawaii at the moment, whilst it is not the "fattest" of USA states there are large numbers of fat and seriously obese people around, more than Australia (but not much more). The supermarkets are full of low fat products, the shopping carts of fat people are full of low fat products, yet they are low fat and high carb! I couldn't even buy full fat yogurt here, 99% of yogurts are zero fat, with sugary fruit topping/mixtures. The other thing I noted was that the food people are eating is not that "unhealthy" in its way, meats, fresh vegetables etc, but the problem is it is mixed with big quantities of carbs (everything from breads, flours, potatoes, sugars, rice), I think this is the key to the problem, it is not the scoop of ice-cream it is the main course with the 300grams of starches before it that over time reacted "insulin spike" with our bodies and caused obesity.

So enjoy your scope of ice-cream, bit of chocolate it was never the problem in my opinion.

Agree with the above re the carbs LF. I recently had a couple of days in Sydney off the plan. Was in a position to serve myself from a traditional chicken roast dinner - home cooked. So as I had decided to be "off" the plan (although pretty well sticking to portion sizes) I put a small piece of roast potato and kumara on my plate with steamed broccoli and roast chicken breast - I tentatively took a small bite of potato, chewed, pondered, and wondered what all the fuss is about - I didn't like it - found it tasted too sweet and gluggy, I didn't like the "mouthfeel" at all. Ditto for the kumara. So I left them on my plate and ate the greens and chicken. So I don't feel deprived any more when I see others tucking into this stuff

I do wonder though If it makes a difference how we time "treat" food, i.e. icecream, chokky. Is it better to have it in the middle of the day, rather than late in the evening. The old thing of having a chance to burn it off. Or is it irrelevant as long as it's not overdone?????

Yes, it does make a differene and is relevant when we eat treat foods. And you will learn all about that when you collect your maintenance guidelines post refeed.

Hi

Just noticed that asy has reached her goal weight. Congratulations. What a fabulous thing. I'm hoping that seeing success like this will help keep me on track (having broken diet this weekend & now feeling totally wretched & a huge headache). We had the 'gong gang get together on thursday of last week. Well worth while getting together, particularly now as wollongong cohens has closed. Only a small rollout, but we talked & talked & it was lovely to see people who are going through the same thing I am. On the 'X' front, i've been single for nearly 7 years now & it's only recently i've felt strong enough mentally to even think about looking aftermyself - with all the rubbish over the last 7 years & now a false bankruptcy claim being lodged by 'X factor' looking after yourself is the last thing on the list, particularly with ankle biters to look after, working etc, etc. So anybody else out there going through 'X' hell, been there, done that, still dealing with it, but a whole lot skinnier & wiser.

Congrats again asy, success is motivating.

Thanks SM!

It's amazing how long we let them 'rule' our lives for, isn't it? Still, it's a good point where we can get to a place within ourselves to say STUFF IT! I'm happy now, and I am sick of letting the X upset me. He still upsets me, but I'm getting there.

I'm so happy with my life now, the only thing that could make it perfect is being able to move to our farm. Still, I hope that day's coming soon.

Have had a good weekend, been playing Chainsaw Architecht, and manufacturing a table out of bits of timber at the farm, using a chainsaw and a drill. It's been a blast. My job for today is to make a few bench seats, and then we will have some 'civilisation' down at the farm!!! And somewhere to have lunch !

Gonna be another great day today, hope you all have one too!

Well, Anna, Those who know me would probably say "She's not made it to bed yet", as it's more likely, but, on Sunday I spent the day running a chainsaw, and I was exhausted, so I was asleep by 9.30, which got me up at 4.30. A cuppa and a bit of telly, and I was back in bed at 5.30, then up at 7. So, it's all good.

I was on the chainsaw again today, making furniture "Chainsaw Architecture", which is fun! So early night tonight too, most likely.

hehe, not yet!

Not sure what I'm going to do down the farm, I'll have to do something to keep food on the table!

The chainsaw architecture was more out of necessity than anything else, but I must admit, it doesn't look too bad. I'll post photos once it's finished.

I made a table out of Scribbly gum boards for the top and round wattle poles for the legs, then the bench seats are all sawn scribbly gum.

All the rebating and cutting was done by chainsaw! It's looking pretty good, but couldn't finish due to running out of screws

Well I hope being out of gum tree we don't stick to it when we set down to visit
I know better but if the daughter comes with she may not and it will be fun to see her expression.....
There are guys here that make stuff with a chainsaw so practice, practice and you could sell it on the internet.

You bring Katy and I'll make a SPESHUL chair for her out of BLOODWOOD...

It's not called that by accident!!! After a run on the mill with the bloodwood, or cutting with chainsaw, it usually looks like someone's tried to hack my legs off with all the sap drops all over my jeans!!! hehe

I'll post some photos of the first set of chainsaw architecture when I'm done!

Thanks Reb!

Still no guarantee I'm in the finals, apparently being in the preview set in last month's mag is no definite preview of the finalists. Will see Wednesday!

I'll let you all know.
