Hi AJ,
Was reading a few pages back, and wow! You're off some of your maintenance medications --- thats fantastic! Hopefully our specialist doctor was ok with you stopping your CPAP. A friend of mine needed her CPAP not just for the fatigue symptoms, but to also keep her heart and lungs healthy. Im told that key to those machines is a properly fitting mask.
Have a healthy day today!

I'll be posting the bad news tomorrow, after I weigh in the morning. We've been on a four day cruise, and I've been eating like I don't have a problem with weight. I've been promising my stomach a consomme and water diet when we arrived home. DH has headed for the supermarket to buy my Cohen ingredients. Stay posted for the bad news tomorrow.

Ooh! A 4 day cruise sounds lovely! Where did you cruise? Any extra weight will be gone in no time I'm sure

Looking forward to your post tomorrow!

Well, it could have been worse. I've added about a kilo and a half. I suspect it may have been more but straight back onto the diet yesterday probably helped. The new fat is still settling in so hopefully it will be moved easily.
Louise, the cruise was to Kangaroo Island, which I haven't visited. I still haven't. The captain decided the sea was a bit rough and dangerous for offloading passengers so all cruises were cancelled. We went back to Portland for the day, which I have seen before. I found the cruise very relaxing and restful, and thoroughly enjoyed the meals at the different restaurants. We're going out to a restaurant tonight. Our son is visiting and wants to take us out , so probably up a bit tomorrow morning.

Great to see you are still around Andy46. How are you going with the Battle of the Bulge?

Sounds like you had a great time AJ and only 1.5kg added As you say, it will hopefully move off easily.

I think it's great to take a few days off here and there to get some rest and relaxation - and even better when someone else is doing the cooking and washing up! My hubby and I have had very little time off in the past 10-15 years due to circumstances but we really felt the need. Now we are trying to take more time off, even if it's a long weekend rather than a couple of weeks holidays. The short breaks have been wonderful so far. I love the idea of a cruise so will look into those options too. Call me crazy but I would dearly love to go on the Indian Pacific across Oz. I was hoping to try and go this year but I think I will end up using my leave to visit my parents whom I have only seen once in 16 years.

Anyway, hijacking your diary ... sorry

It's lovely to see you back and on track.

Louise

Despite dinner with wine last night I'm down 400 gms from yesterday. It must have been the calorie free gelato that did it.

We had a train holiday a couple of years ago Louise. Despite the cost, I booked platinum class on the Indian Pacific and Ghan and was so pleased I did. We caught a train from Geelong to Melbourne, then overnight to Sydney gold class, then Indian Pacific to Perth, flew to Darwin, Ghan back to Adelaide then back to Geelong on the Overlander. The food was amazing, particularly given the limited kitchen space they must have, and the bar was open, 'help yourself'. Our cabin had a double bed that folded to seating during the day, and a proper en suite. The train to Sydney was like gold class, two bunks and a shared en suite (not shared in gold class) where the toilet pulled out from the wall into the shower space. You can see a description of our trip at http://barrieandjoy.blogspot.com.au/...page_8758.html.

Nice drop of 400g AJ! You should be back to pre-cruise weight in no time

Thanks for the link to your train journey blog. It makes great reading and I love the pics too. I am more determined than ever to go now. Did you do your booking online yourself or did you go through a travel agent?

The meals look so yummy too - they definitely go all out to make it an experience worth remembering! Thanks for sharing

Have a good week.

No change on the scales this morning, which is better than a rise. Yesterday was pizza day and I had my own tiny pizza, so doing well not to add anything.

I did my bookings by phone with Great Southern Rail, Louise. I decided what I wanted to do then called them to book. I found it helpful talking with someone who knew and understood the timetables. We spent a couple of nights in Perth then flew to Darwin for a night before catching the Ghan. We also spent two nights in SA, in the Barossa, on the way home.

Yay for not adding anything on the scales today AJ

I showed your blog to my hubby and he's showing more interest in train travel now. It's always been something I have wanted to do but my other half has bad memories of train trips when he was doing compulsory military service many years ago. Anyway, he even went so far as to look at other train trips around the world and said he would also like to do one in Canada. So ... I'm not sure about timing but we are definitely looking at travelling on the Indian Pacific in the not too distant future and I think it would be worth paying the extra $$ to go Platinum. I've already planned my leave for this year to visit my father for his 80th birthday which involves 12 hours of flying time one way, not including airport waiting times!

Here's to a good week of losing on the scales

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster. DS visited for the weekend and we had to take him to the airport, where I resisted the 'cupcake of the week', then I took all my watches to have new batteries put in and, while waiting, we had a toasted sandwich (ham and cheese) which was delicious but added 800 gms this morning. I wonder how quickly I can get rid of that.

I visited the sleep specialist. He tells me I don't need to continue using the CPAP machine but should continue with the weight loss. I intend doing that anyway. All the doctors are surprised by the fact that I've lost 10 kgs. I'm sure they must tell lots of patients to lose weight but it doesn't happen. Makes me want to open a Cohen clinic.

Down 600 gms from yesterday and back to where I was a week ago. I've decided to have a sandwich quarter at the funeral today so I'll have something to eat when I ignore all the cakes and slices.
