Nice loss AJ!

Sorry to hear about the funeral. It's hard for the people left behind.

Thanks for the sympathy Jessy and Louise. I was not particularly close to my colleague and he has been very ill for a long time but I always cry at funerals. Yesterday I started as we walked up to steps of the church and the tears flowed all through the funeral. I did admire his wife, who gave us his life story without breaking down. I told DH I would not be attempting that at his funeral. I was not having a good day anyway, feeling very tired, so we left straight after and missed the afternoon tea spread. I had my reward for that on the scales this morning, down to a total of 10 kgs lost. I've adjusted my ticker for the next five kilos.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

No change on the scales this morning, which is always better than a rise. The Avalon air show is on at the moment and there is a constant drone of plane engines and dogs barking around here. Not so good for daytime naps.

No change again, which is good considering I made chocolate mousse last night and tasted the chocolate and the mousse. We're having visitors today for a pizza lunch, so expect a rise tomorrow.

Cross pizza, chocolate mousse and chocolate ice cream off the list of diet foods. I'm up half a kilo this morning. That will soon be gone again and we had a very pleasant lunch. I haven't walked for a couple of days but DH is determined to change that this morning. As always, I'm feeling very tired. I made the dessert for yesterday but DH made the pizzas and a couple of calzone. We're now able to entertain without me having to do anything. DH is doing pretty well for a man who never did anything in the kitchen before I fell ill.

What a pity those foods aren't on the list of diet foods

WTG on your DH for being able to take over everything when you entertain - he deserves a medal for coping so well. It's lovely that you can still entertain too - sometimes when people fall ill they stop entertaining and socialising altogether and they can become quite isolated.

Hope you have a good week of losing your recent indulgences

Thanks, Louise. Everyone seems to be concerned to have me socialising. I'm fairly introverted so happy enough on my own. I think my GP is concerned about depression.
Another 200 gms gone this morning. New fat really does disappear quickly when not given anything to supplement it.
At the moment, I'm in maintenance mode rather than weight loss mode. That's okay, as maintenance is more difficult than weight loss. I will eventually get to goal weight.

I hear you on the socialising AJ. I am also happy to be alone or with just my family, not socialising. If I want company, I know where to find it and I'm sure you do too.

Nice overnight loss - maintaining is good, at least you aren't putting on. I have found it easier for me to maintain at a higher weight than at goal - I just wish I could maintain at goal with as 'little' effort

Another 400gms gone today. I've adjusted my ticker for new territory. I'm currently on Cohen whenever I eat at home and 'normal' eating when out or when we have visitors. WARNING FOR NEWBIES: If you haven't yet reached goal don't try this. I think it works because the body remembers its low points and high points and aims to get back to them. If it doesn't have low points to remember it's difficult to lose the grams. I'm now moving into new territory so progress is likely to be slower.

Thanks, Jessie.

Another 200 gms gone this morning. I'm in new territory now, although still not back to my lowest for this time round. DH takes care of portion sizes for me Jessie. He cooks all my meals and weighs according to my Cohen plan. Getting me back to where I should be is a joint effort. My aim is to be able to wear size 12 again because I have a lot of size 12 clothes stored away. I'm not sure what size I am at the moment, assume 18 or 20, so a bit to go yet.
DH is sitting waiting for a haircut, so keep working at it everyone.

Same weight as yesterday morning. not bad considering I made chocolate mousse last night and ate some of the chocolate and some of the mousse. Visitors today for pizza and mousse and one of them is bringing ice cream. If I'm the same weight tomorrow morning I'll really have cause to celebrate.

Hi AJ,

I am faffing around in the background at the moment, and I see you are doing good things for your body again. Awesome !!
Quote:
At the moment, I'm in maintenance mode rather than weight loss mode.
Also awesome - I think it is so cool that you can live life, maintain for a bunch of years, step off (or under?) the bus and be totally overwhelmed by extra Kgs, then can just come back on - with DH looking after your meals (onya mate!!) and just whittle away a lazy 10Kgs over a few weeks.

On a reccy around here, I spotted a few well-worn posts - one of them talked of "maintaining your way back down" and it seems this is what you are doing. Cool. Is DH doing a particular day of Refeed amounts, or just "guessing" around the right amounts of the right proteins, etc?

The reason I mention it is ONLY so that you don't "under-eat" while doing this. Shell (remember her?) said she needed to eat MORE in Maintenance to lose more weight. She would "mix up" the meal amounts - like eat more one day, then less the next. SHe reckoned her body couldn't know "I'm starving" as it would get a big meal occasionally. Have a look at her thoughts in here.

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6408

But then, you "sound" good - so maybe DH is taking a liberal path with meal amounts anyway. If so, I applaud. And then, you do have some "days off" too - so your body won't be getting starved eh?

Anyway - I hope the thoughts in the thread are of some use to you.

Rock on, AJ,
Regards,
Koh

Koh, I've been wondering what you were doing and where you are. Great to see a post from you.
As expected, a big rise this morning, 800 gms. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to move that away again. Yesterday I had a couple of slices of pizza, and a bowl of chocolate mousse and ice cream and 2-3 glasses of wine, then no dinner other than crispbreads and an apple.
"Maintaining my way back down" describes very well what I'm doing Koh. I'm not using refeed, just the diet, which I stick to for normal meals and in company or out I forget diet rations, try not to go overboard with what I'm eating and choose my food like anyone else. My doctor told me I had to lose weight, threatened surgery if I didn't and painted a really scary picture of what I could expect if I didn't lose weight. DH was with me at the time and keen to help, so he's doing the weighing and cooking for me as his contribution. I think my doctor tells a lot of her patients to lose weight and very few do. I'm aiming to get back to a size where I can fit into the dress I wore to my son's wedding. That's still some time away but I am chipping away at it. DH has promised to take me somewhere I can wear the dress when I get back to being able to wear it.

Onwards and downwards. I'm expecting a big loss tomorrow morning to take away a chunk of today's gain.

AJ

I recall you were glowing - you had reached goal (or damn near to it?) and had worn that stunning outfit in a greeny/blue colour... (Geez, I'm good at descriptions - I should get a job as a red carpet "clothes they all wore" reporter. Not !!!!

I expected some of the weekend's excesses to disappear overnight but they didn't. Very disappointing. Maybe tomorrow.
Excellent memory Koh. I was lovely and slender, and had had my hair done and makeup applied and looked better than I ever had in my life before. My inlaws walked past me without recognising me. They hadn't seen me all year and weren't prepared for the change of size. I'm sure they weren't the only ones who didn't recognise me.

Onwards and downwards.

Same weight as yesterday morning. The weekend's excesses are proving more difficult to move than I expected. I was supposed to go out to lunch yesterday but forgot until it was too late. Just as well I think. I've also had an invitation to a dinner/surprise birthday party which I will decline as dinners are too late for me these days. My life seems to be full of occasions that involve food. DH has been invited to a 'high tea' for carers today. I get to stay home and prepare my own lunch.
