It's lovely to see that you're still here Michelle and that you enjoyed your trip!

You haven't failed and you won't fail at this - it's a work in progress and sometimes it takes a little longer than expected. It's not easy, especially when you have rogue sugars upsetting the balance in your body but you haven't given up and we are here to support you.

How did your meetings go yesterday? Did you manage to eat your prepared food? I think I'm finally figuring out that if I have something that isn't on my eating plan I tend to think the whole day is wasted and that as I've ruined the day I should start again the next day. This thinking also leads me to binging on more forbidden foods (seeing as how the day is wasted anyway) and this starts a nasty cycle of uncontrollable eating. What I should be thinking is that it was one tiny slip and leave it at that. The day isn't ruined, it was just a small thing I ate that I shouldn't have eaten and the day is still salvageable. If I think like this instead, I can continue with my eating plan as I should and not start this endless round of day 1's with 'final binges' before starting again.

Hanging your jeans where you can see them and having a goal to be in them for the event in May is a great idea! I know you can do this! You don't have a lot left to lose and instead of spending time feeling guilty about losing the weight you could find your groove and lose it and then enjoy the time maintaining the thinner you.

I know, it's easier said than done but remember, we are here for you and don't see you as a failure - we have all been where you are at.

Looking forward to seeing your next update!

Louise

Hey Heidimama!
Keep those skinny jeans out for you to see everyday, great motivation to stay on track. I also have my skinny jeans hanging in my closet (getting musty). Theyre still just barely up my hips, lol, but I have no doubt Ill get in them one of these days.
Keep it going!
Cheers, MM

9 January 2021 and I am back, weighing a whopping, shocking 105kg! I was at 90ish before lockdown so I have indeed gained the quarantine fifteen!

Anyway, what's done is done. I have a solution in my eating plan. Started today.

B: spinach & mushroom omelette, green tea
L: cubed steak stir fry with bell pepper, mushrooms, cabbage, tangerine, green tea
D: will be haddock with spinach and mushrooms

I forgot how delicious & simple meals are on this plan. Once you do the fiddly prep by weighing and portioning, it is really easy to actually cook.

I also forgot how small the portions are compared to the huge amounts I have been eating. No wonder I have ballooned! Reminding myself that in a week my stomach will have shrunk and I will feel satisfied.

I wanted to go for a walk, but the ice outside would make that treacherous -- I slipped a lot just going to the mailbox! I found this walking video that got me feeling nice and warm.

I think I will make sure my meals for the following 2 days are portioned out before closing the kitchen every night.

OK, off to adjust my signature and read diaries, old and new.

Hi Heidimama

Nice you joined us...

You will shed the weight fast !! The portions are so small LOL , I came off eating 1.5 kg meat a day to " This " LOL

I put my daily allowance into Carb Manager App and it came to 600 calories. I find that rather remarkable as it is enough food to keep me full, with enough energy and to shed the KG's nicely. The rest of the diet world would say that was way too low and in starvation mode not to go below 1000 calories.

Its funny how our thinking is influence by what we follow and trust in !

i look forward to your progress you will be back in the 70's in no time

All The Best X Helen

Hi Heidimama,
Welcome back once more - and hey, there's no shame in being back here either. Life happens, and things (with all the best intentions) don't always work out eh? For me, my nemesis was smoking - I'd tried several times over DECADES to give it away - I'd have little successes but then something would have me start up again....

Then something clicked - not sure what, but by keeping trying, I eventually NAILED it and have just celebrated SIX years of no smoking. Wife and I did it together, so both of us succeeded. I'm sure that was part of our success. The other part was HOW we did it - and we shared our success with the Quitline so they could pass it on too. Could it work for weightloss too? I don't know, but here is what we did:-

We had heard that when doing hypnosis to stop smoking, they would have you throw your pack of cigs in the bin. Maybe other "stop smoking" ways do that too - I don't know. We did it differently - we had a freshly opened packet sitting on our fridge - with only about 6 cigs missing from it, so pretty full. The deal was "If we really felt we needed a ciggie, they were there !!! We weren't GRIEVING for something lost (as they were still there), and therefore we didn't feel the need to hop in the car and go buy some more !! 18 months later, (we'd forgotten they were there, though in plain sight) we threw out the packet, and the cigs therein didn't look too flash at all.

Can something similar work with foods? i.e. have them THERE if you want them, but you don't want any now. It is your choice, and you make it daily. What is your nemesis? Chocolates? Chippies? Can something like that work for you? Have some there if you REALLY need them, but you choose to not want them? Makes you more powerful each time you refuse !!! Worked for us and the ciggies.

Thanks to your previous success, Heidimama, you KNEW where to come and what to do to retrieve what you've lost over the last couple of years. Oh and hey, Coronavirus hasn't been kind to ANYONE eh? I'm hearing of many who just aren't getting "out and about" as much, so guess what happens......

Yep, you guessed it !! Homebound and less active, maybe some boredom eating too, anything to make life a bit more interesting. Thank heaven for Cohens though. Reread some of those good articles in here, others' good diaries, AND your own diaries too - lots of positivity to be had. Keep coming back and getting a dose of "uplift" in here, and go for it !!!

Regards,
Koh

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!
