Refeed Day 4

Weight today: 60.2kg (-0.3kg)

Still here... still a happy camper! I'm going to try having my extra old protein and old veg allowances in one meal today instead of splitting them. Two reasons for this - 1) I was quite surprised that I was hungry yesterday afternoon, and 2) My husband isn't coping very well watching me eat all these extra foods while he's still doing his Cohen's Lite thing. I made toast croutons last night to have in my soup and he looked like he might actually break down and cry like a baby! So I've made an extra large calamari salad to have for lunch today, and dinner will just be the usual quantity. Anything for peace in the home Shame, he's really doing incredibly well, even though he has had the odd "cheat", has lost just over 30kg's since March. We weighed at gym last night and he's at 101kg's, down from 132kgs. He's getting loads and loads of compliments from friends, family and colleagues, but he's at the point now where he's getting bored and in his opinion, is not seeing results quick enough. Boys! I just don't 'get' them! Love 'em though! I realise as I get further into the program it won't be possible to eat the full new allowance in one meal, so will have to work that out somehow.

Eden and Sassy, I think post refeed I'm going to investigate the gluten free bread option. My brother and his family are all gluten free - they make their own bread, pasta, etc. I don't think I'm that dedicated to becoming a domestic goddess, but I'll certainly check out other options. I'm pretty convinced that I'm gluten intolerant at this point. But to be honest, I did think that before I started Cohens too. Maybe next time I need to go to the doctor I'll ask her to check that out.

YAY! EK - we can be refeed buddies!! I've got my menu planned up until Tuesday next week - then I'll be on here asking a billion questions

Stoddy, AJ and Irene - can't wait for you guys to get here! I'm ready to pass on my title of "Farty Pants" to one of you! Teeheehee. Not long now ladies! YAY!

Have a great day all.

Doing great BFG!
I see your weight is still dropping, the food must be agreeing with you!
Well done for your hubby too.

Refeed day 5... 10 days to go... hopefully!

Today's weight: 60.5kg (+0.3kg)

Up this morning - but that's okay! I had a really busy day at work yesterday, broke my own rule, and attended a lunchtime meeting, which meant I only ate lunch later in the afternoon. I went for a really great walk with the dog late yesterday afternoon - I don't know what it's like in your part of the world, but in Johannesburg you can literally smell Spring in the air. It's just awesome! I can't wait for the first rains of the season!

I have another busy day today, I have an interview this afternoon for a new job. Don't know much about the company or what to expect, but it should be fun anyway! Wish me luck!

HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!!

Hey BFG .. how did the interview go ???

Oh and not sure if I want the title of Farty Pants .. haha ... Irene or AJ .. I will gladly leave that for one of you ladies .. hehe

You are doing fantastic girl ... and poor hubby ... but sounds like he has done great too ... in no time the two of you will be eating normally .. if there ever is such a thing .. haha .. I think everyone has different perceptions of NORMAL .. I used to think what I at precohens was normal .. but .. nope .. that was wrong ... so what is normal anyway ?? aaah too early for thinking .. haha

You have a fantastic weekend ... and look forward to reading more !!

Hope you blitzed the interview !

Refeed Day 6

Today's weight: 60.8kg (+ 0.3kg)

Another 300g up. At what point do I start to get worried? In total I'm still down on my refeed starting weight.

Umm - another question about fruit - I'm at the point where I get to have 2 good fruits a day. I know it's best to vary those fruits, ie. allowance blueberries, and then allowance pineapple - but if I have the same fruit ie. pineapple with lunch and then pineapple again after dinner - is that a problem? I'm really struggling to find fruit at the moment. Must be a tail end of winter thing - there's the odd pineapple here and there, and apples and oranges - that's about it. The melons don't look that good either.

The interview yesterday was hysterical! The company is supposed to be (according to their website) one of the top IT solutions companies in town, and I have never in my life had such a bizarre interview! The HR manager told me that the Directors are quite 'touchy, feely' and will rub my shoulders and perhaps even sit on my lap, but not to take it personally, they're all 'really harmless'. I mean seriously? I like a back rub as much as the next girl - but err... I'd prefer a George Clooney look alike doing doing it and not a Gordon Brown look alike... bwah ha ha! She wasn't the brightest lightbulb on the shelf, so after the first 10 minutes I just gave up trying to impress and had fun with her... and spent the next hour finding out about her husband, kids, hobbies, etc. Turns out she was immune to sarcasm, irony and didn't understand much about her own industry. Nope. Not a place I'd want to work. But a nice afternoon out of the office

Hope you're having a SUPER SATURDAY!

Hi BFG,
It doesn't matter what fruit you eat, I was eating pineapple every chance I got it was SO nice!
You sound like you are doing really well.

Default Why thank you honey I had a wonderful afternoon...

Yeah no worries having the same fruit...they say to alternate just to see how the different fruit effects your weight...but if pineapples your thing then just have that. Make sure your only having your allowance though and your old fruit as normal. You can try the other fruits once your done anyway and just make sure you check your weight the next day to see if your body likes them or not.

Keep up the great work love...your doing just fab. Love

I'm having difficulty catching up with diaries at the moment, BFG. Good to see you are going well.

I believe that wheat products disagree with me and mentioned this to the gastroenterologist. He checked and told me there was no indication of celiac (not sure how he checked, but he was doing a gastroscopy at the time). However, I am convinced that I am better off without wheat products, so your doctor mightn't find anything, but that doesn't meant there's no problem.

Your poor hubby. He's been doing so well, but I can understand him being a bit discouraged.

Touchy-feely or preparing you for sexual harassment and calling it something else? Certainly not somewhere that you'd want to work. I had a boss a bit like that. I blame him for about 30 kilos.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Refeed day 7

Today's weight: 60.4kg (-0.4kg)

Nothing like a bit of a drop on the scales to get you motivated and excited for the day! YAY!

Thanks Shell, Eden and AJ for popping past, and for your advice, support and encouragement! Knowing I can stick to my pineapple does make me feel better, and being reminded that I should still be eating my other fruit was really helpful. Thank you. I noticed that yesterday I didn't have a BM at all, which is very odd for me, and I was feeling yucky and sluggish especially last night - I think it's because I haven't been having my 'ol faithful' apple a day since I started refeed. Will have it today though!

Had a great, productive day yesterday. We're in our new house now, and the garden is completely non-existant. It's just one giant sand-pit of builders sand and rubble. Yesterday I had some inspiration and started working on a part of the garden. Created a little pathway from the main gate to the front door with big paving stones and then went off to the nursery and got 12 plants to make a little garden with. It was bloody hard work, I used a pick axe for the first time in my life and really worked up a sweat. I have aches in muscles that I didn't know existed this morning. But at least we now have 3m2 of garden that looks like a garden. Only 200m more garden to go! But at least our little dog has something to lift his leg against now

Next weekend I think I'll work on creating a little kitchen / herb garden. Best I start saving my gem squash seeds again!

Hope you all have a great Sunday! Take it easy.

It is satisfying making a garden, BFG, and hard work. Lucky you are at refeed. The way I'm feeling at the moment, I can't even stand in the kitchen for a couple of hours without needing to sit down again.

Had to laugh at your interview - what a bizarre place to work.

Enjoy your pineapple.

Cheers

I've just phoned my clinic and they've said that it's only if I gain OVER 1kg (ie. 1.1kg or 1.2kg) suddenly that I need to go back two days. There are big inconsistencies that I've picked up in refeed and the "rules"... gotta say, I find it rather strange and unsettling. Up from beginning of refeed vs. up over night, etc. I don't want to start up the old debate again. I've decided to listen to my body. I'm going to do day 8 today as planned, and if like Shell says I'm up more than 1kg from starting weight tomorrow I'll go back 2 days. I'm still 300g down from refeed starting weight.

Seems you are still okay, BFG. How much time do you have between earliest end of refeed and your trip away?

Grr. I can't believe how much the scale reading affected my day today! It's crazy! I've spent so much time today trawling this forum, reading and re-reading my refeed guide. I still can't make head or tail of it.

AJ, the earliest refeed finish date is Monday 25 August, and we're only going away on the 6th September - so I have 12 days to play with if I need to. I'm really, really hoping not to need them! Thanks Irene... I'll be sure to keep you posted.

If I DO need to go back 2 days - say I wake up tomorrow morning (day 9) and weigh before breakfast (duh!) and I'm up 800g (). Do I go back 2 days from DAY 9 or from the last day completed, ie DAY 8? Any gems of wisdom there? Surely, if I gained the weight by eating day 8's food, then I should go back to day 6 as opposed to day 7? I think I might be over-thinking this!

Sorry for all the questions - I just really want to get this right!!

Hi BFG,
I would say you do the 2 days previous, the day you just did and the day before that.
