Loulou, I hope those compliments keep coming thick and fast. I was wondering do we get given a maintenance program or guidlelines or is that for us to figure out ourselves? Keep enjoying those yummy meals

Hi Loulou,

You are sounding better by the day - woohoo - hang in there....
Quote:
I was kind of hoping to see 59 on the scales at some point, that being the bottom end of my Cohen's goal range, but I used to maintain at 61 kg so I'm pretty happy where I am.
In case you are thinking the extra food will prevent that, think again.... I can recall many saying "You don't lose any more after Day 10 on refeed" - but I know of some that DID, even on Day 15. So, as always, it is "diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks".

Whether you hit 59 or not, you are doing great, Loulou - and such an example to all who follow

Enjoy that extra food

Hugs,

Koh

Default Day 7 of 18 and I'm a 50's gal!

Whoooo Hoooo! Check this out!

Refeed start weight 60 kg
Today's weight 59.5
Change - 0.5
Today's change - 0.7

Yipee! Well that's one wish that came true. My hubby and I planned to have a big sleep in today, we work different hours so we never get as much sleep as we'd like and every second weekend we look after our 8 year old niece who gets up at 5am! Sunday is the only day off we have together so we planned to sleep in for as long as possible. When I finally got up and got on the scales there I was a 50's girl. Amazing. Gotta love sleep, it's a Cohenites best friend.
Down 700g in one day. I like that. Can't imagine it'll stay that way but I don't care, I got to see the 50's on my scales.

Today I got another piece of bread on my plan. Still no problems with it. I've bought another loaf of organic spelt bread, same deal, only three ingredients - flour, water and salt. It's all sliced up in the freezer, yes I weighed each slice, it's amazing how much heavier real bread is compared with that mass produced chemical fluff that tries to pass itself off as bread. So my slices of real bread are very small but very yummy.

Louise- yes we get maintenance guidelines and they're very specific. I love my home made organic muesli and on maintenance if I want to keep eating it I can only have it for dinner! But it all makes perfect sense when you read it.

Koh-I got my wish, I'm a happy girl. Thanks for all your support.

Vee- you are a trooper. I can hardly wait until you're on refeed, I'll bet you can't either! Thanks for that little push into the 50's.

x

LL

Hi Lucylou,
Congratulations!
You are doing well, I am hoping to get to the 50's as well today or tomorrow-fingers crossed!
When I was on re feed and had the heavier bread (smaller!) I used to roll it to flatten it out to make it bigger!
Have a great day

Hey Loulou,

You are doing so great, and....what's this......french toast with fried pineapple.........GET OUT!!!! No more talk of these forbidden foods please! LOL.

Glad to hear you are getting some nice compliments, you deserve them after all your hard work...enjoy. I keep catching myself looking in the mirror, then I tell myself I'm being vain and to stop it.....then I think no, I've worked hard to feel good about the way I look so I'll damn well look if I please!! hahaha. Sort of like I have to keep checking myself to get used to the 'new' me .

Take it easy Loulou, not long til maintenance now...oohhhh.

Hi Loulou,

Woohoo !! Good on ya - and who's to say it won't go lower?

All of it really is a "wait and see" - in the end, it's a learning time, and a stabilising time. With you pretty much where you always wanted to be, that should keep your spirits high (and that is ALWAYS good news)...

Go you, and keep on enjoying

Hugs,

Koh

Default Day 8 of 18

Refeed Start weight 60 kg
Today's weight 59.9
Change - 0.1
Today's change + 0.4

Stilla 50's girl but only just. Not enough sleep last night and 2 pieces of bread may have made a difference. I got a baaaaad fruit today and naturally chose a banana, I had 2 pieces of French banana toast for breakfast. OMG! (veggies first of course)

I had my first day of actually feeling full yesterday. I was getting worried because I just felt like eating more an more up until yesterday, we've all heard the stories of out of control eating after refeed and I could feel why...I felt quite compulsive. But it's easing up now as the quantities get bigger. I had my first normal sized steak last night, couldn't believe how big it was.

I will be happy to get to maintenance and not have to weigh everything but I know I'll be eating similar meals to the ones I'm eating now, I like this way of eating and I've learnt some great recipes along the way.

I was feeling quite emotional today, anxious and sad, not sure why but it will pass, it always does. Meditation helped as did a dip in the ocean.

Oh and today I get to mix proteins, no more 5 hour rule! one less bit of addition in my life.

Shell- I love that idea of rolling out your bread, I'm going to give it a go.

Louise- yes I was thrilled to hit the 50's but I'm not attached to it at all.

Suzie- yep keep on checking out your reflection, it's such a great feeling, you're not fat anymore, well done.

Koh- hello you lovely puppy. I am happy pretty much anywhere in my Cohen's range. so much better than my heaviest at 93kg!!!!

x

Default Day 9 of 18

Refeed start weight 60kg
Today's weight 59.9
Change -0.1
Today's change 0.0

1/3 of the way through refeed. 3 pieces of bread today and I made the fish pizza from the recipe book and added cheese on top. Excellent. One piece of bread went into the tuna base of the pizza and another went into the mince and minced veggies for some beef rissoles. i thought I must have got the weights wrong because the meals are sooooo big but I checked and that's the amount we get to eat on refeed. Amazing. It is nice to feel full.

Not feeling the best at the moment though, I feel as though I'm coming down with a cold but I'll fight it off. My head hurts. I'm not sure whether it's the new food I'm eating or the illness that's doing the rounds at work at the moment. I've been eating bread from day 2 so i don't think its that.

It is lovely to be able to mix proteins and not have to count hours between meals anymore. By the end of refeed I was counting the seconds until i could eat something!

Louise-I'm not going to change my ticker. 60kg was my goal and I'll be happy to maintain within my goal range of 59-62. I dropped 900g in my last 4 days before I started refeed to hit 60kg so I was estatic. If I finish refeed in the 50's then yeah I might change my ticker but I don't really think that will happen. Still you never know.

x

You're doing well, LouLou. Isn't it amazing how we can eat so much more and not add weight?

Are you eating only spelt bread? I would try wheat bread unless you are not planning to eat wheat bread in the future. I think the idea is to see how our bodies tolerate wheat. I used to think that I was intolerant to wheat but managed three slices of homemade bread a day for much of refeed with no problems.

Default Day 10 of 18

Refeed start weight 60 kg
Today's weight 60.3
Change +0.3
Change from yesterday +0.4

Yep back in the 60's today and I must say I'm not surprised, the amount of food I ate yesterday was a shock to the system I think, all on my refeed program but I think I'll start dropping the bread back down. I'm feeling uncomfortable in the abdomen area. So today I'll have 2 pieces of bread and 2 cbs and see how I feel. I had more headaches yesterday and finally succumbed to some drugs, don't know why i waited, they work so well!

I woke up feeling full this morning, can't remember the last time that happened. I had to wait a while before I had breakfast because I had no appetite at all.

This morning I had yoghurt & banana muffins ( 1 banana, 2 pulverised CBs and a pinch of cinnamon baked in mini muffin tins for about 15 minutes, yummo).
I've made another tuna pizza with cheese for lunch, yesterday's was such a treat. And chicken rissoles with salad for dinner. A fruit salad of apple, mango and blueberries completes the picture.

Shell- I may see the 50's again but I'm not too worried if I don't. I'll be happy to maintain in my goal range.

AJ- I swap between wheat and spelt bread, I used to think I was intolerant to wheat too but I ate plenty of Saladas through this whole journey and up until yesterday didn't feel any ill effect from the bread. Still don't know whether it's the bread or just all the extra food but I do feel uncomfortably full.

Louise- I'm glad I didn't change my ticker! I'm feeling a bit better today but it may be a residue of the headache tablets I took last night.

Tomorrow I get to have milk...it's the thing my Hubby has been looking forward to the most, being able to have a pot of tea together just like we used to pre-Cohens.

I did some baking this morning as well for a work lunch, looks and smells great but no tasting for me.

x

Hi LL.
How did you make the muffins?
Just mix everything together & bake?
They sound VERY nice.

Sounds like you are really enjoying re feed, good on you!

Default Day 11 of 18

Start refeed weight 60 kg
Today's weight 60.1 kg
Change + 0.1
Today's change - 0.2

Good to see the scales drop a little bit this morning. Today I actally felt hungry for a while and I enjoyed it, I don't like feeling stuffed all the time. Only one piece of bread today, my yummy Banana French Toast. I had the rest as crackers pulverised in banana and apple muffins. Yes 2 bad fruits today and milk for the first time in a cuppa with my Hubby. Happy days. Although ...I have enjoyed odour free bottom burbs and not many of them through the program...the bottom burps are back and a little bit odouriferous and I realised it's due to the bananas. Not going to stop me from eating them though, my Hubby will just have to suffer!
I also had new protein for the first time, mixed it with beef in Connie's excellent goulash.

Shell- yes I just mashed the bananas with cinnamon and added the pulverised crackers, it takes a bit of mixing and can seem a bit dry but taste yummy once cooked. My apple and banaba muffins today were made the same way but I stewed the apples and the mix was less dry. If I get time I'll put all my refeed recipes in a thread.

Still doing 2 jobs at work and extra work meetings as well so I have been very busy. Next week should be easier. And I finish up refeed in a week...unless my weight goes rocketing up!

x

LouLou, I had those nasty smells the first two times I had milk. My consultant warned me that it can have effects that make it wise to be at home when you first have it. It settled down after that.

I made my own bread with natural ingredients and did not had any problems with it. Today I looked at the ingredients in a loaf of spelt bread and was amazed at how many ingredients there were, including several 'numbers'. I'm convinced that food with numbers is a large contributor to many of the problems we have with food.

Default Day 12 of 18

Start refeed weight 60 kg
Today's weight 60 kg
Change 0.0
Today's change - 0.1

Feeling much better without all the bread, only one slice for the last couple of days and the rest as CBs, I'm glad we have the choice.
Today I had carbs for the first time, had some pasta with my bolognaise and veggies. Didn't know how much to cook so now I have little weighed containers of pasta in the fridge for other carb meals.
I tried a new bread today, wheat but with yeast instead of sourdough. I had indigestion after breakfast but I'm not sure whether it was the bread or the strawberries which I tried for the first time today. I'll experimnet again tomorrow.

Very pleased with the amount of BMs I'm having, not that constipation was ever a problem for me on the program but I only had a BM about every 3 days, now it's almost back to my normal once a day and actually twice today!!

I have a question about good fruits, they have gone AWOL in my program now that I can have 2 bad fruits and I'm mising my pineapple. Can I swap a fruit old or bad for a good fruit?

AJ- I wouldn't touch the spelt bread you found. None of the bread I eat has numbers of any kind. It's hard to find even in the health food store but if it has numbers or soy of any kind I don't touch it. Also the odoriferous bottom burps began before the milk was added...I'm pretty sure it's the bananas!

Default Day 13 0f 18

Refeed start weight 60 kg
Today's weight 59.9
Change -0.1
Today's change - 0.1

A 50's gal again today, not eating all the bread certainly agrees with me, one piece a day is plenty. I love my CBs I'm so used to cooking with them now, turning them into muffins and nuggets and coating my chicken with them.
I was curious to see how I'd handle pasta and I did feel a little uncomfortable in the abdomen later in the night. I'll try it again tomorrow. Tonight I made myself a shepherds pie with real potato on top, mixed up with pulverised CBs, it was fabulous. My niece and nephew are staying and had a stack of "trick or treat" sweets plus we made a very decadent dessert this afternoon. I'm happy with my banana and CB muffins, they taste decadent enough for me.

I'm really enjoying my cup of tea with milk in the morning, it's really only enough milk for one decent sized mug of tea.

I'm now eating about twice the amount of vegetables that were on my original plan - no wonder my bowel is so happy! I'm also on about 50% more protein. My Hubby looks at my meals now and says "Are you allowed to eat all that?" Even someone at work remarked on how much I was eating at lunch time. The meals are big compared to what I was eating but now I've cut down on the bread I'm not feeling stuffed anymore, just comfortably full. And I love eating 4 pieces of fruit a day, my passion fruit vine is providing plenty of them.

The headaches from last week have gone and I'm feeling pretty good.

Now that Reecy and DC have graduated from refeed I'm all alone in here, hopefully not for too much longer.

x

Hi Loulou,

Hehe - I'm sure you are right....

"Refeed" is a transitory phase - so, YOU won't be here for too much longer anyway. As you know, there are several others "about to graduate to refeed" - so, who knows whether you will still be here by the time they get here....

Whatever, YOU have been doing so well, Loulou - Maintenance is looming, and I'd think it will have few problems for you. Welcome to the rest of your life, LL - you've done yourself SO much good over the last few months

Hugs,

Koh
