Re: CB's Diary
Day 8
Well omg you are right. 4kgs down in week 1. Am stoked. I know it's week 1 but still it fills me with enthusiasm for the next bit of the journey. Feel really good. Can't quite believe it but am not getting on the scales again! At least until next Monday. Wow, am happy. Also really pleased at how the forward planning and prioritising my healthy eating is working. Sat through a four hour lunch with good friends boozing and scoffing away yesterday and felt really fine with my fizzy water and camomile tea. Thinking that I can actually do this, get to a healthy weight and be the best I can be. Great! Today should be fine, have walked and stretched, tuna for lunch. Not too much stress at work. Paprika chicken and salad is plan for dinner. With an apple and mango. 1 litre down so far. Thanks for the support everyone and hope you have a great day too Will catch up with the forum and 5kg challenge tonight.

Re: CB's Diary
Day 9
Wonderful sleep. For me this is the ultimate proof that this program is so good for me. I never sleep like this with a normal diet. Maybe I have allergies... Pouring with rain but will still do walk. Dogs will be very fed up if not and its good for me. Tonight we have open air cinema. Normally this wld be with a bottle of wine, gourmet pizza and Lindt choccies they hand out. Not tonight for the new me. Plan to leave work at 5.30. Get home and cook some lovely eye fillet with asparagus. The boys can have spuds and dijonnaise with theirs. I'll stick to a drizzle of balsamic and some made up mustard powder. Then peaches all round. Will head off to the movies feeling full and unable to be tempted. Fingers crossed it stops raining. Have hung my size 10 skinny jeans on the wardrobe door. I will be wearing them within 10 weeks. Thought crosses my mind I am too old for skinny jeans but will see what they look like when I get there! Have a great day all.

Re: CB's Diary
Ladies you make me smile! Thank you.
Day 10 Well, overall it's going quite fast. Day 1 seems like yesterday. Had cheese, tomatoes and red onion for breakkie. Realised its my first cheese of the program. Have always had egg for breakfast but wanted something different today. Yogurt doesn't seem to fill me up enough but do have some in the fridge if eggs don't appeal again tomorrow. Maybe with chopped apple and cinnamon might be satisfying. Today should be ok. Nothing on tonight so I will do a quiet one. Didn't get quite enough sleep last night as we got back from the movies late, and I know from the forum that we have to sleep well to loose properly. Makes sense doesn't it - if our bodies are under stress why would they let go of the extra weight. My bum feels a bit smaller today. Maybe all in my mind. Yesterday I felt quite aware of all my fat blobbing around my body. Am reflecting on all those weeks and months where I was bigger than I am now and didn't really think about my fat, just wore cover up clothes and focussed on work and stuff I had to do for other people. Am really glad that I can take the time for myself at the moment and I do think the journaling is helping my focus and mindfulness. As well as the cheerful support from you other Cohenites. My face is also a bit thinner I think. I like it. Keep smiling!

Re: CB's Diary
I haven't done cheese for breakfast, nearly always egg as I don't like using up a fruit allowance so early in the day with my yogurt. I must try it as I know that I should vary the meals a bit.
Isn't it funny how we used to ignore/accept how we looked by covering up - and I think we did this also about how we saw ourselves - by refusing to look at ourselves closely which gave us low self esteem and confidence. Loving your positive posts. WB |

Re: CB's Diary
Breakfast I really have no time so I ALWAYS resort to the easiest which is yoghurt and cinnamon. On weekends I try different things for brekkie, lol depending on how demanding my boys are. Not that I'm complaining, I think if I werent so busy I'd find Cohens much harder to stick to. Idle time is my enemy.
Hugs!!

Re: CB's Diary
L,
Do you know what is a quick winner besides yoghurt? I make this in the evening while I am in the kitchen cooking dinner and getting my next day's food prepared and ready. I take a small container and mix chopped onion, tomato, mushrooms, green pepper, salt, pepper, 1 egg, 1 tb spoon of water and shake the hell out of it. Spray muffin pan (3 serves) and throw in the egg mix. Leave it in the fridge. Tomorrow morning when you wake up, switch oven on 180 and put quiches in the oven while you shower / bath or getting something ready. 20 Minutes later and your brekkie will be ready. No fuss, no mess and a nice alternative to yoghurt. I dislike yoghurt, that's why I can whip up magical egg dishes. If you want, you can make this in the evening and have it cold in the morning, like my hubby. But I like mine warm. |

Re: CB's Diary
Hello
Day 11 Didn't manage to post before work today as I had to rush to a physio Pilates class. Really good. I have a stiff right side which is the side effect of a bad forceps delivery 28 years ago. Yes, 28 years of nagging pain I haven't properly sorted. Appalling eh. Winterboots - it is another thing that I have neglected/ ignored/ accepted. Crazy! The New Me has booked in for classes twice a week from now until end of March. I will not let work or other people get in the way of these times. If I want my body to be in good shape I have to lose weight and get my lower part firing properly. I have been at the class for a few weeks now and am noticing a real difference. My butt muscles are working properly and I can feel my core. Yeh. Most days I walk and stretch too. I think this level of exercise is about right for me at this stage. Food today will be curried egg, chili chicken salad and mince and cabbage tonight. E - love the breakkie idea! Will do on Saturday and then have Wild Wendy's pizza for lunch. Ladel - it is great that you are finding any time at all to plan and eat healthy. Life for me is so easy right now, I think you rock. I plan to get in bed before 9.30. I was a bit late again last night and sleep is critical. Better do some work now. SO looking forward to the Australian long weekend.

Re: CB's Diary
Day 12
Feeling pretty cruisy really. Food and water intake pattern seems settled. I know what I have to do and will do it at the right times. There is a doc on the Internet called the importance of drinking water from the snowbird diet by dr Robertson that I have found helpful in keeping my water intake up. The key points in the article make sense to me. I make sure I have a litre before I leave home in the morning. I must have had at least another by the time I finish lunch. And then start on the third during the afternoon. Many days I have had more - I am feeling thirsty with the heat, but also think my body is happy processing fat and is asking for more water to keep it hydrated enough to flush out. I am thinking about buying new scales where they have the hydration monitor too. I feel being properly hydrated is a big change for me and something I am interested in reinforcing/understanding better. As I lose weight I will need less water and not sure I can properly trust my own cravings to get it write. Listening to the needs of my body is something I need practice in. Gosh, as I write this and take a slug of water realise I am through first litre. Have become very attached and affectionate towards my nice blue water bottle. May post photo when I get around to positing photos.... So, nearly at long weekend. Challenge to manage will be the visit of my two grandsons who are spending the weekend with us before going back to school next week. They are 11 and 13 - step grandsons actually - their mother died and my daughter is now with their father. They have a baby girl together who is nearly two and another due in early March. I am so looking forward to being glam gran with a slim groovy wardrobe! Normal start to a weekend with the boys is pizza and ice cream in our local pizza place. I would normally eat at least three quarters of a pizza and half a bottle of wine. The New Me thinks I think I will take them to the beach early evening and then send them to pick up the pizza while I eat Cohen's dinner. Think they will like being out on their own in Sydney. Then a TV movie so I can crash on sofa if I am tired and craving carbs. Should be OK. just have to make sure I put my eating first before treating them. Definitely manageable.

Hi Glam Gran
Good luck with the weekend, I know you are going to rock! Enjoy the kids, I love children and their enthusiasm! Do you think its possible to have too much water and if so, how does one determine how much is pushing it?
