Nothing could induce me to drink the water out of the pool, no matter how many times I boiled it! There are spiders floating in it!! If it was okay to use for cleaning though, I could offer it to the neighbours too.

Has anyone heard how the staff are at the Christchurch clinic? Is everyone OK? Is the building OK? I have sent an email to my consultant and have yet to get a reply.

HI Stee, don't know if staff are ok. That side of town has been badly affected. I will also try and send an email to my consultant to check, just can't find her email address.

sticking to my Cohen's plan is a huge issue...have also posted progress in my diary. Lack of drinking water is getting to me. I am boiling water and having green tea though, thought it would help.

Have had foods I shouldn't have and it is a huuuuge issue for me so going to get back on track as from tomorrow after I've stocked up on foods (if I can get what I need).

Cheers

That would be awesome Jlou. Thanks heaps.

I've gained 100g over the last week. Not a biggy, but nevertheless, was supposed to loose at least 1.5 so a bit of a set-back. Getting my head right and went shopping for a few things this morning so should be allright.

Stee, I spoke to Queenstown clinic today, and she said all teh staff got out safely from ChCh office.

Thanks all
Cheers

copy of email recieved from CHCH office yesterday

I wanted to let you know that everyone got out of the clinic safely after the earthquake struck in Christchurch last week.
All our consultants and their families are well, although the clinic and our homes are a little worse for wear.
We are operating as normal from our Queenstown office, so if you have any queries please phone either Isla, Donna or myself on 0800COHENS or 03 441 4244.
You can also email isla.s@lifestyleclinic.co.nz or donna.c@lifestyleclinic.
Our Christchurch clinic will be re-locating due to the damage to our building so I will keep you updated as to where and when you can again come in to see us. So please keep on with your program schedule as much as humanly possible and phone or email us if you have any issues at all.
The Auckland clinic was due to open on the 4th of April so we are trying to fast track that now to as soon as possible.
Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you affected by the chaos in Canterbury right now and I urge you all to be strong and keep safe until we get a chance to catch up again in person very soon.
Kind Regards
Kathy

My heart breaks for my countrymen (Filipinos) who died in the earthquake. It was God's will, but I feel for the family they left behind. One of the nurses who perished just arrived a few days ago. To the Christchurch Cohenites, I will continue praying for you. I would like to help even in a small away but I am miles away.

Im in Christchurch and have only had power restored last night. 11 days after the earthquake. Still have no water & I havent been able to stick to the programme at all due to having no food, no supermarkets & no transport on my side of town. Hope to start back on track tomorrow, but am now worried I wont meet my target in the 6 months. All my family are safe for that I am eternally grateful, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this.
Does anyone in Christchurch know where I will be able to get blood tests done as I assume Kilmore St is closed.

Cecile I am very sorry to hear of your country men and woman who have lost their lives in Christchurch. This tragedy has effected so many, nature doesnt descriminate when it strikes. Our thoughts are with their friends and families.

Michelle you can only do what you can do, dont beat yourself up, this was an exceptional event and sometimes you have to give yourself a little slack. Just do the best you can and this is a lifetime change - so really 10 days is a little thing. Hang in there, we are all thinking of you

Hi Michelle,

You may be able to use the info posted by "Oh to be slim" just a couple of posts back from yours (post #31). There, she gives a contact number for Cohens - and they should know where bloods can be taken.

As Louise said, just do the best you can - it is not like you PLANNED any of this, or deliberately deviated. Just keep on walking, smile while knowing you are doing yourself SO much good, and stay true. You can't do better than that.

Please don't concern yourself with dates - all you can do is "the best you can" - everything will work out as it is meant to,
Koh

Hi Michellem - phone the Cohens number - it is diverted to Queenstown and they will be able to help you out. I was wondering the same thing as I will be ordering refeed soon however, haven't been able to stick to the programme due to the same problems, but back on track now again. I am sure Kathy and the team will be very happy to extend the programme by a couple of weeks due to this horrific time we are all going through. Don't stress too much about the 6 month time limit. I ended up eatign and egg for lunch and dinner for a couple of days, just in order to get my protein in - just had it on hand rather than trying to get to a supermarket for meat.

All of the best - hope you can get yourself sorted asap.

I signed up for Cohen's after the Feb 22nd quake......being in Christchurch I coped with both quakes with comfort eating (easy to do when there is no power or water for cooking) and I really wanted to put a stop to this because my body was suffering for it.
I'm currently on day 4 of my plan having joined up through the Queenstown clinic as the Christchurch clinic was in Christchurch CBD.
I found out this week that a new Christchurch clinic is opening and I'm going for my first appointment tomorrow, yay!

My NYF Diary
Default Re: Christchurch earthquake

As an 'outsider' (a role I am familiar with on here ) I was struggling to comprehend when I talked with my big Sis in Chch today.

I mentioned that "I really didn't have a clue" just how bad things were there, even though we have talked regularly over the last 3 months or more.

From my side, it is like "Wow, that sounds bad!" - but then, I wasn't facing the "day to day" that they are !!

Sis told me of people putting out hand-written signs, asking buses and cars to "Please Slow DOWN" - as their homes were already "shakey" (off their foundations) and any vibration could have it fall - at any time !! And the fact that Sis can't just "Go to the Bank" without facing an endless number of Detours.... (you want to turn Right? Forget it!! Go straight on, and good luck!!)

Add to that, stories of houses with "Doors jammed shut, and/or Doors jammed open" - and I started to get some idea of how widespread and horrific this whole event has been. Then, she mentioned how the sewage ponds had ruptured.....

She also mentioned that the more recent big one was FAR more devastating than the earlier one (Sept 10?) - I think we all understood that - though smaller in intensity, it was way closer to the surface, and closer to Chch. We all understood (as best we could).....

THEN, Japan experienced their earthquake/tsunami - and Chch seems almost forgotten in the headlines.

A bit like the Qld floods? "Old news" - but VERY new to those living through the results....

My heart goes out to all - whether in Qld, Chch, or Japan .... with more to come??
Koh

HI Koh, yep, it is just so extremely frustrating. Everything takes twice as long and supermarkets etc. are just further away for some of us, i.e. on the other side of town. So, in my case, I was frustrated because I didn't lose much weight since the quake, but as we had to buy water etc. my normal Cohens routine didn't always take priority as you had to make do with what you had.

HOWEVER...I have decided that I simply deserve to be thin as I followed this programme throughout the build-up to Christmas including all the functions, throughout Christmas and the holidays, through the quake including having to evacuate our house and move into a new place and will also still be on my 'refeed' throughout Easter. (hot cross buns, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate...did I mention chocolate??). Sooo, moral of the story, where there is a will there's a way and I have proven this to myself.

We are taking one day at a time here and things are sloooowly but surely improving / getting fixed etc. so at least there's progress.

All of the best for all the other ChCh Cohenites!
