Re: miss_nat's journal (take 2)
I didn't go in to it in the first post but I've been a little frustrated the last three days by the scales flatlining on me (especially because I am SO close to achieving my first goal of breaking the 70's barrier). You may recall that right after reaching my week 1 goal, the sneaky little scales showed a 200g increase. It's nothing, I know but reallly, how rude! Anyway, it was the same yesterday and today it only dropped a 100g. I keep telling myself that when the plateau breaks, its gonna break big baby. And I'll be back on track to reaching my week 2 goal. Anyway, since my earlier post I've spent most of the time reading through other people's diaries and seeing ththe same advice come up over and over - "stop worrying about the scales and think more about how your clothes fit". So I started assessing how my clothes are fitting, particularly my jeans (its casual day) as I walked to and from the restrooms, oh, about three times so far this morning! And they are in fact much looser Now, I've worn them a few hours almost every night this week so they could just be stretched out from wear but even at their most worn, I don't recall them having been this loose. So, YAY! Scales be damned. Now my desire to get the hell out of this office is increased even more as I have the same pair of jeans a size smaller at home - perhaps its time to try them on? They're a "never worn" pair that I bought just before moving to the USA from JeansWest, worried that when I lost weight I'd slim out of the 11's I'm wearing today and not be able to get another smaller pair the same. Well, its been 16 months but it might be about to happen Ok, really must do some work now. Perhaps I can commit to a small goal of working uninterrupted through to lunchtime in 40 minutes? Wish me luck! -N

Re: miss_nat's journal (take 2)
Hi everyone
I realise its been quite a while since I posted and a lot has happened during that time! I missed my week 2 weigh in update on Tuesday morning as I was so super busy at work and then came home that night not feeling well and have been in bed sick ever since So to recap, my week 2 weight was 69.7kg Only 800g down from week 1 but considering I lost 4.3kg in the first week, I expected it to be small. I didn't do my measurements Tuesday night as I was feeling so unwell, so will just skip these and do them next week. Unfortunately I'm not still at 69.7kg. I ate more than my allowance of meal 3, crackers and fruit on Tuesday night as I was so drained and sick. I went to the doctor on wednesday and was diagnosed with strep throat (or pharyngitis as we'd call in Australia), so have been put on antibiotics (just a short 5 day course so hopefully they won't do too much damage to "the zone"). Wednesday night my prepared meals ran out and I was too sick to cook so I ate the same as Vince (I'm not going to tell you what it was but it was way off plan. Strangely I didn't enjoy it as much as I imagined I would!). I got back on plan yesterday and dared to look at the scales this morning. It wasn't too bad - 70.6kg. Almost a kilo behind and it'll probably take me the rest of the week to get back to where I was, so that's a full week I will have lost. Oh well, not much I can do about it now, so lets just keep going Better to get sick now than right before the wedding. In good news, I just tried on my wedding dress which was a size to small when I bought it and it now fits! Well, as near as I can tell. It has what seems like hundreds of little buttons all the way up the back which I can't do up myself but the two sides seem to meet wherever I pull them together. Yay! Alright, off to cook my lunch now. Steak and veggies - yum yum! -Nxx

Re: miss_nat's journal (take 2)
Hey Miss Nat! Sorry to hear you've been unwell. Hope you're feeling much better now and the meds don't interfere too much with your weight loss. I've been fortunate enough (touch wood) to have stayed well in the 7 weeks I've been on Cohen's. Funny thing is every other time I've dieted or detoxed, I've gotten sick within a few weeks of it. I'm surprised it hasn't happened this time.
I think if I was sick I would find it hard to stick with the food on the program. Take care Lovely. You will be back on track before you know it.

Re: miss_nat's journal (take 2)
Thanks for popping in Smiley and Nicole, and for the kind words. They brought a much needed smile to my face yesterday afternoon So I ended yesterday's post so I could make my lunch... of bloodslaw! I was so happy that I was actually feeling well enough to spend some time in the kitchen, so I decided I'd make another big batch of coleslaw but got a little too slap happy and sliced my thumb open on the blade - ouch! Luckily I didn't get any blood in the coleslaw but this batch is now known solely as bloodslaw! I took to bed in a sulk and watched a movie but not before checking the forum and seeing your lovely messages
This is the second time I have been sick in 6 weeks since I went back to work and have had to take two days off each time. I'm only contracting, so I don't get paid if I don't go in so I don't think my boss is concerned that I'm screwing them over but it still doesn't look good. I don't think its the diet or detox that's making me unwell but just that I'm not used to all the office germs. Hopefully this is it now. Good news on the scales this morning... I am back to 69.8kg Woo-hoo, that didn't take as long as I thought it would. Perhaps it was all the blood I lost yesterday!! So with three days until week 3's weigh in, I might actually record a small loss after all. -Nxx

Re: miss_nat's journal (take 2)
Week 3 weigh in the morning - 69.4kg! 300g is not lot in a week but given the week I have had, I am just happy that it went down. Let's face it, it could have gone up! Measurements tonight - first time in two weeks so should be interesting to see where they're at.
Thanks for popping in Nicole, Bellandmeg and Missy! I am feeling much better thank you, even the cut on my thumb is almost healed. I am wearing a new work dress today for the first time. I ordered it online about a month ago in a big sale with a no returns policy. I couldn't get it down over my tummy and hips at first and now I reckon I'll only get a couple of wears out of it over the next few weeks until it is too big Yesterday I wore a skirt that was super tight when I first bought it starting this new role 6 weeks ago and realised yesterday that it is so big its not fitting right and looks a little odd. Good thing it was only $20. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I might be ready to go down to a smaller size in jeans? Well I tired them on and they did up but it wasn't very pretty! Or very comfortable. I tried on another pair, also from JeansWest and a a 10 but a different cut and they felt much better. I can't wait until I can wear them both, such a psychological win to be in them. Jeans weather is almost over here - its the second week of spring and its already high 20's and 90% humidity but we'll be in Sydney for 12 days in May, so they'll get a workout then. OH! I almost forgot. I have new BIG motivation to get as much off as possible before the wedding.... my hens night includes a burlesque dance class and team bridesmaid and I have been diccussing costume options. Check these out! Apparently these are my choices! Anyway, must prep for our 8 am workshop... yawn! -Nxx

That's perfect motivation... Meanwhile, I'm sure your pole dancing moves will come in handy haha Fitting in to clothes that didn't fit is the bestest feeling ever... even having clothes suddenly not fit so nicely due to being too big is nice.

Re: miss_nat's journal (take 2)
Hola amigos!
My fabulous Mexican cleaner Lucia has been in today this the Spanish influence Had the tiniest of losses on the scales overnight - 100g! I really feel like I'm headed for another big jump downwards. I seem to do a serious of small losses (or stay the same) and then hit 700-900g in one go. It was the same last time I was on plan. So, excuse me little body, hurry up and give it to me! My little head could do with the boost! Forgot to do measurements last night, so did them this evening. Two weeks worth in one go because I forgot last week as well and then got sick. not bad results at all, I am quite pleased. I can feel that I'm shrinking (my jeans are SO big and Vincent tells me so when he hugs me) but sometimes you just need to see the numbers to know it's real. And here they are... Neck: Start 33.5cm. Wk1 32cm (-1.5cm). Wk3 31.5cm (-0.5cm). Total loss = 2cm Bust: Start 100cm. Wk1 96cm (-4cm). Wk3 94cm (-2cm). Total loss = 6cm Under bust: Start 98cm. Wk1 84cm (-4cm). Wk3 81cm (-3cm). Total = 7cm Waist: Start 87cm. Wk1 81cm (-6cm). Wk3 78cm (-3cm). Total = 9cm Belly button: Start 95cm. Wk1 91cm (-4cm). Wk3 88cm (-3cm). Total = 7cm Hips: Start 102cm. Wk 1 100cm (-2cm). Wk3 98cm (-2cm). Total = 4cm Widest part: Start 102cm. Wk1 102cm (no change). Wk3 97cm (-5cm). Total = 5cm Left thigh: Start 54cm. Wk1 52cm (-2cm). Wk3 50.5cm (-1.5cm). Total = 3.5cm Right thigh: Start 52cm. Wk1 51.5cm (-1.5cm). Wk3 49cm (-2.5cm). Total =4cm Left upper arm: Start 34cm. Wk1 31cm (-3cm). Wk3 30cm (-1cm). Total = 4cm Left forearm: Start 22.5cm. Wk1 21cm (-1.5cm). Wk3 21cm (no change). Total = 1.5cm Right upper arm: Start 33.5cm. Wk1 32cm (-1.5cm). Wk3 30cm (-2cm). Total = 3.5cm Right forearm: Start 21cm. Wk1 21cm (no change). Wk3 20.5 (-0.5cm). Total loss = 0.5cm Wk 1 loss = 20cm. Wk 3 loss = 14cm. Total loss = 34cm!!!! So, I'm super excited that everything is under 100cm now. And the difference between my bust measurement and under bust measurement is widening which is nice to see too. And my waist is in the 70's now. Yippeee! I feel a little more confident about ordering one of those burlesque outfits. The bridesmaids and I all chose the b&w one BTW. I plan to dress it up a bit with coloured accessories. Haha, Missy I can't believe you remembered the pole dancing. I haven't been on the pole in 18 months or more and I reckon I would useless now! We've got really hight ceilings in this apartment so I haven't got anywhere I can put the pole up Nicole and Smiley, I will post some photos of the hens night outfit once I get it delivered. I'll need you all to tell me how fab I look so I'm courageous enough to wear it! What would I do without y'all -Nxx

Re: miss_nat's journal (take 2)
Thank you little body for weighing in a 68.9kg this morning. That was just the boost my little head needed
Yes, Missy its very rewarding having Vince notice changes. He's flying out to Sydney this afternoon for a bit over two weeks (need I mention how jealous I am that he's going home without me?!), so I hope to have a big difference for him to notice when he gets back. I just updated last night's measurements in my spreadsheet and checked them against the BHLDN fit guide (the store I bought my wedding dress from) and I now a size 8 That's a USA size 8, so equivalent to a large Australian 10, small size 12. Woot woot! I think I'll ask a friend to come over this weekend, so I can try my dress on properly. If I keep going I might need to exchange it for a smaller size. -Nxx

Re: miss_nat's journal (take 2)
Oh what an interesting few hours I have just had. I came home from work absolutely spent. It's been a huge week right after having been sick last week and I am now all alone as my finace has gone on a 2 week business trip. The whole way home and for at least half an hour after I walked in I was dreaming about deviating. A glass of red wine, a slice of pizza, a bowl of noodles. I even looked back through my weight loss records to see how much the deviation when I was sick cost me, wondering if I could give up a week or more's progress for just one "good" night. Then I had my afternoon crackers and fruit and tried to reason out why I was behaving this way.
I'm tired. Exhausted actually. I've been hungry between meals the last two days. I'm PMS'ing. I'm bored. And a bit lonely. Is that it? Are they really good enough reasons to spoil my efforts? NO!! What was even more telling was considering what I thought deviating would achieve... Absolutely nothing. Even after thinking about it for minutes on end, I could not convince myself that drinking a glass of wine or eating disco dumplings would make me happy or make me feel good. But it still didn't help my mood. The answer? I have spent the past 1.5 hours reading through Butterfly Dreamings refeed and maintenance diaries, the "gems" thread and several articles about HGH. And I'm back on board baby! Thankfully its almost dinner time as well, so some garlic, black pepper crusted steak and grilled veggies will do wonders I mentioned above that I looked back through my weight loss records to see how much time my deviation whilst sick cost me. It was a couple of days to get back to where I was prior but since then I've only lost 1kg which has been 13 days! That means something good is coming on the scales and I plan an early dinner and a BIG sleep tonight to aid it. Whilst reading through other people's diaries and the gems thread, I picked up a new bit of information - that sweetener, diet soda and pain killers can slow weight loss. This is definitely something I am going to watch out for. I don't have soda every day but find I value it as a bit of a treat, although some days herbal tea seems just as good. So not worth slowing down results for though. I've not even been considering the effect on my weightless when taking painkillers, which has been a fair bit recently due to neck pain and associated headaches. Might ease up on that and try natural remedies. I think I have a link somewhere to an article detailing how a certain mix of vitamin D (?) and something else can be more powerful than the strongest over the counter pain meds. Now I just need to find it! I also came across the "Cohens and exercise" thread again (http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...959#post113959) and renewed my understanding of why cohens and exercise don't mix. And just in time! I had been considering starting up a couple of pilates or yoga classes per week to aid in toning before the wedding. Might just have to up the application of bio-oil instead Ok, off to cook dinner and have an early night so I can wake up completely refreshed, feeling fabulous and maybe even a little bit lighter! I just need the to sun to go down. It's only 7pm but feels like 11pm to me!! -Nxx
