Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
I'm glad you enjoyed yourself yesterday. I think I understand your sentiments about the unfair judgment fat people get. I have been guilty of doing it, sad to say, in addition to being a target of it. I cannot control what other people think of me, but I know that I have let my weight stop me from doing things out of self-consciousness. I do not want to do that anymore. I am trying to enjoy my life now at this weight and to stop waiting for some point in the future. Like you, I want to be healthier and to age gracefully and for my body, that means losing some kilos. But if people feel good and are healthy and overweight, more power to them.

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
So... weigh in today was a loss at least 0.6kg for the week. I would have preferred more but we did go out to dinner on Saturday night. That said, I was careful with my food choices and had steak and salad and no dessert. The steak was small but I suspect it weighed a bit more than plan amounts and the salad had grated carrot and some kind of vinegary dressing which I forgot to say I didn't want. The biggest issue I had this week was not drinking enough water in the latter half of the week but I will rectify it this week and hope to be over the 5kg down. I also think that what hasn't helped is that my daughter flew in from Canberra on Friday night, spent half of Saturday here and then left early on Sunday morning to drive back to Canberra with her car and worldly belongings. She has taken a year off uni studies to be close to her boyfriend (who is in the navy). Understandably, she doesn't want to do a long distance relationship and figures that he is worth the investment to see if the relationship is going to go the way of the altar Honestly though, he is a really good guy and we (the parents) like him too.
Anyway, with all the coming and going - I didn't get enough sleep this weekend and find myself droopy eyed and wanting more sleep today. I have the day off, fortunately, so once the laundry is done I may crawl back into bed for a nap! On the plus side - I can feel my work pants starting to get roomy in the legs - I love being in the 'sisterhood of the baggy pants' again Onward and downward! Louise |

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
Yay, Louise. Sounds like you had a cm-loss-week instead of a kg-loss-week. And I prefer the former, in some ways, because clothes look better. So close to 5 kg! Do you have a little reward planned for that milestone?
And kudos for not deviating despite the challenges of the week. And for this to be truly sustainable, I think you are right to enjoy a Cohen-friendly meal in a restaurant. You are not doing the formal program with blood tests, so trying to make this plan part of your life is a good idea, instead of depriving yourself entirely of a social life for a set period of time. So very happy for you, Louise. You are doing so well!

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
Thanks for the encouragement, ladies! It's this kind of support that keeps me going
I have to admit being a little disappointed that I hadn't already made it to 5kg lost but hopefully this week will be a bigger loss. I hadn't thought about a reward for the 5kg lost but we have plans to go to an "escape the room" with our boys. My daughter took her hubby to one in the UK. It was a birthday gift but I hadn't heard of anything like that. Must live in the dark ages apparently! Anyway, I went looking for places in Perth and there are quite a few so my next 3 day weekend sounds like a good opportunity to go. I'm happy to see that as my 5kg milestone celebration. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the shrinking feeling albeit slower than some. Louise |

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
Had a lovely comment from my hubby yesterday. He knows that I am back on Cohen's but out of the blue he said that it looks like I have lost weight! This is big because he is not one to make casual comments, tending towards the quiet and reserved personality. If he's said something once 20 years ago he feels there's no need to repeat it ...... you know the type. So, for him to comment on the fact that I look like I've lost weight must mean it looks significant enough to illicit the comment. Whatever, it's not usual for him to comment and I was encouraged
That said, my weight is not moving this week - not yet anyway. L |

Hi SLim,
I reckon Heidimama called it :- Quote:
It would likely also lift YOUR spirits and have you LOOKING slimmer by standing more like a model once more !! You know what I mean - when you look good, show it !! Anyway, it sounds like there are some good vibes in the Slim household, so pour a can of petrol on the flame !! Give hubby a high-five from me (and you can have a big hug...) C Koh

Thanks for your visit Koh and your comments and hug! You're so right, the cm loss has lifted my spirits immensely and I do carry myself differently too! I find I'm not trying to 'hide' my bulky frame as much when I go out.
Good news on the work front is that my bully boss is still off sick and predictions are that she may not be back till after Easter! I hope this is true! Her temporary replacement is easy going and treats others with respect which makes him a pleasure to be around! I'm sure that the reduction of workplace stress is helping with my weight loss efforts too. Now I just have to get through the weekend - I still find them hard when on plan! Louise |

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
Hi Louise!
We've all gotten those hunger craziness moments, and what I remind myself is that I usually get that feeling right before a weight drop. So hang in there! Its going to happen. Glad you had a blast at the beach. I hate being fat on the beach too. Its like theres no where to hide. Uggh. We should all plan a NYF meet-up beach-side. We'd all know where we're coming from so we'd all understand if someone still has some extra bulges. Have a great day! Cheers, MM |

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
Thanks for popping into my diary MM! It looks like you're well on your way to finding your skinny
This past week wasn't good for me and I lost my way a little bit, with the result that my weight is up today. I basically stuck to Cohen's friendly but had far too many crackers and not enough veg because I didn't feel like cooking or weighing my food! It doesn't pay to be stupid like that but I'm back on track today and the silliness is over. Had so much fun with our adult boys yesterday and went to an Escape the Room experience. It was a first for us but I'm glad to say that we managed to escape the room with 17 seconds to spare!! The puzzles were challenging and well thought out and we left there feeling pretty stoked! Anyway, back to reality this morning and hoping my weight gain will disappear quickly. Louise |

Welcome Back Louise,
Sounds like a fab weekend! You'll be back to losing in no time. Sometimes, I think we just need a break top come back fresh and more determined. Looking forward to seeing you have a big loss this weekend.

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
Hi Louise!
Escape Room sounds like great fun. Congrats on getting out with time to spare! I am sure the water weight will disappear in a day or two. It probably has already. Such good news about the bully boss! I hope the time off gives her an opportunity to reflect, but she doesn't sound like one who does much self-examination, so that may be wishful thinking. Enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. Looking forward to reading your news.

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
Thanks for the visits and comments AZ and Heidimama I appreciate your support.
I was thinking about my weight gain since the last time I did Cohen's (2014) and how I started putting the weight on almost immediately after reaching goal. I had attributed it mostly to things going on at home (empty nest stuff) and possibly stress at work but it struck me yesterday that the bully boss started working at our branch around the time I had reached goal weight. She has been gone about a month now and in the last month I have managed to start losing weight again, focusing on the eating plan and feeling more in control. I don't think it's mere coincidence that my weight gain and inability to stick to the eating plan happened when the bully boss was at work! In fact, I am convinced that the work situation had more to do with my weight gain than the stuff at home although the stuff at home didn't help. My conclusion? I don't think we should ever discount the effect of stress/bullying and our living/working environment on our weight. Yes, we may make bad food choices but those choices (in my opinion) are fueled by what's happening around us. So... to maintain our weight, it would probably be easier if we were in a happy environment too. This is definitely something I am going to think about more and aim for when I finally get back to goal. Well, that's my ramblings for today ... hope everyone has a great weekend. Louise |

Re: Skinny Chic - Soon2BSlim's Diary
Hey AZ! Thanks for checking up on me. I have been MIA because I have been totally off plan for the last few weeks and in total meltdown, miserable, binge-eating mode. I'm not proud of myself but being the emotional eater I am I made some very wrong choices! Part of the downward spiral was due to the fact that I live in Perth but my sister and father live in Knysna, South Africa and they recently had wildfires pass through their town, destroying my sisters home. She evacuated with the clothes on her back. My father lives in the same street and he also evacuated as the house next door was going up in flames. They couldn't see where they were driving the smoke was so thick and the main road into and out of town was closed due to the fire .... it was very stressful. I'm grateful they escaped with their lives and miraculously my father's home is still standing although all his neighbours homes are gone as well as his garden. My father is turning 80 in 3 months time and I had been planning a visit (my 2nd in 17 years) but as most of the town is decimated and accommodation is scarce I decided to cancel my visit. It's been traumatic for my family to go through this fire and hard for me to be so far away, not knowing if they got out in time etc. Anyway, like I said, they are alive and I have been able to speak to my father which has helped me as well as him I think.
Work has continued to be difficult with my bully boss but the good news is that this week she was fired for stealing of all things!! It was a daily struggle working under her for so long and although she wasn't fired for bullying, I am glad she has gone!! Needless to say, I'm starting to feel like I'm coming out of my funk and will be back on plan 100% from tomorrow! I don't want to know what damage I've done on the scales but I will put my brave face on and see in the morning ..... Thank you for checking up on me - I so needed it! xxx L |

So ... I am back!! Feeling a little apprehensive and full of thoughts about eating the wrong stuff. I am worried I will begin again and fail again but I so appreciate all your visits to my diary and know that with a little help I can do this. At least I have started the day right, had yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, and have some pre-prepared meals for the rest of the day.
I'm planning on updating my diary daily at least for the next little while so that I can be accountable and push through until I hit the zone. I reckon once I'm in the zone I will be feeling so much better that I will want to keep going to goal. I can do this! I want to do this! Louise |
