Cohen Date: W3D2 Wednesday
Today's Weight: 102.2kg (-0.4kg) morning
Total CMs Lost (updated Tues.): 7cm week 13.25cm total

Breakfast: 8:30am Yoghurt & Nectarine
Snack: 12pm 2 Crispbread
Lunch: 2:20pm Crackers with Cheese (fetta, salada, onion, tomato, cucumber) YUMMY
Snack: 5pm 2 Crispbread
Dinner: 7:30pm Steak with Squash & Zuchini
Supper:
Fluids: 1 decaf coffee with sugarine, 1 herbal tea, 3l water
Deviations: 2hr 15min between 1st and 2nd crackers

Updated Measurements today (a day late). Very weird results?

FYI I measure both arms and legs as they are different.

Arms: Left arm went down 1cm then up 0.5kg. Right went down 3cm and stayed. They are now almost the same except by 0.5cm. Does this mean the right arm was carrying fat? BTW I am right-handed.

Legs: Went down 1cm R and 2cm L.

Chest: Started 118cm, then down to 116 then up to 17.5cm? Must be error in measure. Chest is a lot less flabby and flatter and firmer.

Waist: Simple here start 120cm now 112.5cm half the loss is here

Hips: 110to 108cm after no change in the first week.

So overall the fat is going in the right places.

One Happy Boy, Peter 14.7

As per my separate thread as of this morning I have lost 10.2kg! I am SUPER PUMPED!

I had to triple check as I kept seeing 102.8kg not 101.8kg. I think my mind had 10kg mark as a mental block. That's a surprise?

Thanks to all for the nice comments.

Cohen Date: W3D6 Sunday
Today's Weight: Last was 101.4kg ??? (-??) did not weigh?
Total CMs Lost (updated Tues.): 7cm week 13.25cm total

Breakfast: 8:45am Boiled Egg with Tom& onion & 2 Crackers
Snack: 11:15am 2 Crispbread
Lunch: 2:30pm Soup & Crispbread (chicken, onion, silverbeet, shitake mushrooms)
Snack: 4pm Diet Bundaberg Ginger Beer (not on approved list contained about 5g sugar)
Snack: 7pm 1 apple
Dinner: 9pm Chicken with Salad (lettuce, onion, tom)
Supper:
Fluids: 2 decaf coffee with sugarine, 1.5lt water
Deviations: diet Bundaberg Ginger Beer

Too busy to weight and then I had a diet Bundaberg Ginger Beer which contains 5g sugar and sweetener. I am sure it would not be ok. In fact pretty sure it was not.

Social Eating!! My father in law offered me one after unloading trailer of wood for him and I felt obliged to say yes. I read the 100ml as 1.7g and thought that cannot hurt. But bottle is 250ml.

So I will call it NO LOSS and stick to the rules.

I don't personally feel that day-2-day deviations effect your next day loss, it is more a "generalized" loss, the more you generally consume the less you will trigger the general lipolysis fat burning response and the less you will lose in the month. Anyway put it in perspective, if you eat an apple such as an medium sized apple with have 3 times this level of sucrose (high GI "cane" type sugar) and even more fructose (fruit sugar...which is lower in GI). You did it just once and you havent repeated the same mistake everyday for a month....so its not worth worrying about.

Thanks LF.

I tried to find out how much sugar was in an Apple but I thought it was all fructose, so I thought it didn't count.

I have to stop "worrying about the scratches on the Porsche".

That is I have lost 11kg in 3 weeks ( I own a porsche) who cares it could have been 11.2kg ( the scratches), I still have lost 11kg.

Your comment is helpful, Peter 14.7

Yeah, c'mon...

I just checked, and there is no radish on my Shopping List, either!

No deviating Peter - read the shopping list!!

And since when does Cohen's program have anything to do with 'carbs' as such? No excuse for this addition.

Cheers

Kristine

Sorry I know you are away from home and cannot prepare your foods.

I love Japanese Daikon (large white radish), in Japan it is considered very very healthy and is very much on diet foods lists (and even on Atkins) probably gets 10/10 in Japan. Fever, high blood presure, weight loss....just eat Diakon if only it was that easy!

When I have been out of the house and cannot cook for myself it is basically in every Japanese sushi shop salad.

I actually contacted the consultants about Diakon and they said it wasnt tested, that means that Dr Cohen hasnt found it to be good or bad.

As a deviation, it is probably one of the better deviations

Hello All & Kristine & LF.

I agree Radish not on the list and will avoid. As best I explained they could not understand why I wanted more lettuce and less egg, avocado.
I think when the scales came out theythought I was with the Government.

Anyhow here is my full report and outcome also posted as closure to my bus trip thread.

Please enjoy.

Well I am back from my business trip and the news I have is very, very interesting.

THE TRIP
I left Wednesday night and my first meal was evening meal at Virgin Lounge. Fetta with Crackers and Vegs bought raw for $2 at an Asian Stir Fry Bar.

I stuck to Cohen’s ingredients fully (except some radish at Japanese Restaurant) but lost the ability to weight in the last few meals.

Thursday I stared well and had the huge advantage of that usual café was willing to make (with notice) a special 120g chicken 120g Cohen vegs salad in balsamic. Very yummy and sliced super thin so it looked huge. Chicken was exact raw weight and cooked on hot plates but covered to steam it through.

Thursday Night I actually measured my raw tuna at the table. I spent 10 minutes explaining: no avocado, no egg, no dressing, only lettuce, cabbage, spring onions.

Friday the same cafe lunch with a Cohen’s to the gram steak dinner also at the café.
(I will list cafe details elsewhere for ref).

But I couldn’t carry my scales Saturday at the Property Expo so those grams were a guess-estimate.

I believe the worst meal was the Saturday business breakfast. I said one poached egg, no bread, no bacon, add onions. I got bread. I got two eggs. The mushrooms and onions were swimming in oil, tomatoes ok. So I just left toast and ate one egg. I squeezed/patted dry as best I could the mushroom and onions and guessed the grams but I feel it was over.

Lunch was typical “big expo style” pre-prepared Chicken Cesar Salad. Tossed the dressing satchel but I had to buy two to get enough lettuce and meat after stripping skin fat. At $7.50 a bowl that hurt.

For my last meal I talked the Thai chef through the seafood and veg in curry past with no curry past, only herbs, only Cohen’s veg, and only enough oil to stir fry.

SUNDAY
However, yesterday, I was staying with family on Mornington Peninsula and we attended Gardening Harvest Festival and ate lunch there. I picked Cohen food (chicken, with tomatoes and green salad) but it was professionally prepared so chicken was wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with spinach and white cheese. Tomatoes and Green Salad lightly in vinegar and oil.

Again I was strong. I un-wrapped the chicken, pulled out the stuffing, and didn’t eat the cherry tomatoes only the larger ones.

DEVIATIONS
After all that I got home last night dying to know where I was at?
  • I had followed the right veg except 40g of radish but
Oil consumption as dressing or cooking was surely higher
Very probably eaten more of veg allowance and less of my protein allowance in Saturday meals. Factor of up to 50% out of balance.
I did have a few more REAL coffees than usual with Equal or Sweet & Low not Sugarine.
Only 4hr max between Saturday’s Lunch and Dinner
So I jumped on the scales last night after dinner with clothes to just check and prepare myself for the morning before brekkie weigh in and I was at 100.6kg. A rise of 0.4kg.

Disappointed? Yes.

I had been so good and in some cases, spent more time explaining a meal to the chef than eating it. But my goal was to hold the line so I hoped in today’s morning weigh with no clothes I would be around 100.2kg my pre-trip weight.

So you can imagine my surprise this morning when I got on the scales and it read 98.8kg !!!!!! I checked five times and once it settled on 99kg flat but yes it was 4 of 5 for 98.8kg.

I had SMASHED my first goal AND whilst away!

WHY THE LOSS
While I don’t know exactly what went right but
  • I did do a lot more walking that normal. Plane to Train, Train to Hotel, Hotel to Clients, Clients to Cafes, All day as Property Expo.
I had also ensured no Non Cohens Vegies were eaten.
I could not find caffeine free diet so I just drank water.
I didn’t eat Non Cohen Seafood like scallops when on my plate.
I ate fewer crackers than 6 a day as I ran out.
    AND
I resisted (easily) the home made cake at the office.
So I am pumped and so relieved I was able to work, live, eat and do things without feeling like some leper.

COMMENTS FROM FRIENDS ON MY WEIGHT
All my friends/clients noticed weight loss straight away but only the close ones commented unsure of the etiquette, I think. Once I did a twirl (yes, I twirled) and said “see anything different” they then said “I thought you had lost weight.” Reinforcing the social taboo to not comment on a person’s weight.

Some were amazed I had even weighed 112kg. They thought I was less. This is probably due to the fact I carry fat everywhere (legs, arms, neck, liver, etc…) so I look more stocky than fat ( with clothes on).

Now I have lost my neck hunch and more, many friends looked guilty as I tucked into my honey dew melon and they munched Hot Chips.

So I hope this encourages others to have faith and don’t give in once you stuff up (the radish), stick to the right vegs and the timing and it should ok.
