Day 7

Start Weight 52.2kg
Overnight movement +600gm
Overall movement +500g
Current Weight 52.7kg

Changes good and bad fruit, bread, extra protein, extra old veg and extra crispbread

Saw a 500g increase on the scales overnight, i'm 99% sure it's a result of screwing up and eating those biscuits the other day... guess it was bound to come back and haunt me.

I'll be extra good today, try to drink a bit more water than usual and go for a walk this afternoon just to try to get things moving again.

Yesterday I felt like I was eating all day, my bread intake is up to 3 slices/day! Wow!

Fingers crossed that you drop those 500g again today! The extra water and a bit of walk are sure to help you in that area.
It's all a learning curve! You are doing great, Ellabelle!

It's surprising how many slip up on refeed and eat something off the plan when they've been 100% for months, Ellabelle. You're not alone in that by any means. I think it's because goal has been reached, and mentally we're thinking we've finished dieting. Several times I came very close to absent mindedly popping something off plan into my mouth, even though I'd not done that through the diet.

It's also common on maintenance for the fluid retention (that's all it is) to show on the scales two days later rather than the next day. You should find that 500 gms disappears quickly.

Hi Ellabelle,

I had to let you know about this (as it sounds like you LOVE pineapple)
Quote:
Having two serves of pineapple was great but my tongue has hurting by the end of it - ouch!
When we buy a pineapple, Mrs Koh shaves all of the rough skin off, then shakes SALT all over the exposed flesh, then rubs the salt in, THEN washes off the excess under a running tap.

What happens? Well, it tastes a little different, but the salt seems to take away that acidic flavour, and is FAR easier on the lips. Try it, you might like it....

Hi Ellabelle,

So sorry I haven't been in congratulate you on your elevation to refeed. Being away has made it hard to fit in much internet.

Sounds like you are having a very human journey on refeed and I thank you for sharing how it is for you. We all learn from your journey.

Not too long now and you will be in maintenance land - and i think that's when the fun really begins about understanding how our bodies really work with different foods.

Blessings
Shanara

Day 8

Start Weight 52.2kg
Overnight movement -300gm
Overall movement +200g
Current Weight 52.4kg

Changes good and bad fruit, bread, extra protein, extra old veg

Happy to see a 300g loss on the scales overnight, yey! No deviations yesterday... I've decided taking it day by day is the way to go. My will power is at an all time low at the moment.

Perhaps my new found love of cupcakes (baking them, looking at them, decorating them, reading blogs about them) is not helping lol. Think I need to find a new passion that doesn't involve baking.

Vee - Thank you for the encouragement

AJ - Strange how after coming so far and when the end is in sight, that we manage to deviate. oh well, taking it day by day helps and trying to focus on the positive.

Koh - Ohhh! Thank you for the tip! I shall commit that one to memory I've finished with the good fruit now until after I finish refeed, but I'll definitely let you know how it goes after that

Shanara - Thank you I am looking forward to getting to maintenance land... will be bizarre not having to weigh things!

Yes, stay away from the cupcakes, at least until you finish refeed, Ellabelle. No point making it more difficult for yourself. I think our subconscious gets ahead of us. We know we've finished losing weight, and subconsciously are thinking that we're no longer in diet mode. I didn't deviate, but caught myself just in time on a number of occasions, starting before I reached refeed.

Day 9

Start Weight 52.2kg
Overnight movement +100gm
Overall movement +300g
Current Weight 52.5kg

Changes bad fruit, bread, milk, extra protein, extra old veg

It's strange, whilst I gained 100g overnight, I woke up feeling really hungry! I had french toast and a banana for dinner so I'm wondering if having the two slices of bread at 6.30pm bloated me for this mornings weigh in. I also had some milk last night... hrmm...

AJ - yes, you're right, I'll steer clear of the cupcakes! There's just so darn cute looking lol

Hi Ellabelle
Just a quick note to say that I thought I was the only person obsessed to that extent about cupcakes! All through the program I had a website that I visited just to look at them.
Good work on the refeed.

It's likely the high carb food in the evening resulted in particularly low blood sugar in the morning, Ellabelle, hence the hunger. It probably also contributed to fluid retention. I know that carbs in the evening cause me fluid retention the following morning.

Only a short while and you'll be able to have the cupcakes. However, you may need to restrict yourself quite a bit at first. Many of us seem to overreact to carbs in the early part of maintenance.

Day 10

Start Weight 52.2kg
Overnight movement -100gm
Overall movement +200g
Current Weight 52.4kg

Changes: bad fruit, bread, milk, extra protein, new protein, extra old veg

100g loss on the scales which is nice - I'm surprised because I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night. Not a lot to report from yesterday, more of the same really.

Sirroco - haha, cupcakes are gorgeous, it's more about how good they look than how good they taste I think. My obsession stems mainly around decorating them

AJ - Definitely will need to be careful around the cupcakes when I finish. I'm planning to do a meal plan every week after I finish Cohens so as to make sure i'm staying in balance (and limit junk-y food) Thanks for your continued encouragement in here, I really appreciate it

Another cupcake freak here Ellabelle! I have two cupcake cookbooks and numerous tools and millions of bookmarked sites all about them... somehow I always end up making muffins instead though.

I've been absolutely fixated with cooking since being on the program. Which is funny, because I'm not a cook! In the past couple of weeks I've bought a new saute pan, a new frypan, a whole range of baking tins and pans and I've organised about 200 "to try" recipes in neat lil bookmark folders on my computer! I've even stocked the pantry with certain things to be "ready" for when I can start baking/cooking again.

Maybe we're sort of living our cravings out vicariously through others? Though I wouldn't have your will power to actually BAKE them yet and not eat them! I really admire those of you who can do that!!!

I've also been trying to search for some "healthy" treats that I can make when I'm finally on maintenance... some non-fattening alternatives which can be more of a regular part of my diet. If I find any real winners I will certainly share

I hope you have a great day and yay for losing that pesky 100g!!!

It's amazing how the weight remains fairly steady to lower throughout maintenance, Ellabelle.

I love cooking, although not much good at decorating. Have you seen the web site that my husband has put up for me? The URL is in my signature.

It can get lonely in refeed, Ellabelle. I don't look at many diaries now, but try to get to the refeed ones as they don't get a lot of visitors.

Ellabelle, I gave in to two cupcakes, made and brought around by neighbour's daughters at a barbecue after I should have stopped eating. I can see why you are so interested in them. Right now I'm torn between making some myself to prove I can do a lot better, and knowing that if I do I'll be eating them and I shouldn't. It's the first time I've seen cupcakes in a long time, although my mother used to make them regularly.

Default I'm not doing so great

I had a major blow out on Day 11 and pretty well threw the towel in

After my blow out I felt really fat so I didn't eat anything other than apples, diet coke and crispbreads for two days. I went to the gym and did 3 hours on the bike over the course of three days... then I blew out again for four days straight, I ate junk food, heaps of it! I got down to 51.7kg when I wasn't eating, then I went up to 55.5kg in just four days (yes! Four days!)

I called my consultant and explained, she said I'm best to go back onto the program to get rid of the extra couple of kilos, so I started back on Saturday morning... my plan is to keep going until I get to ??? I don't know.

Even at 51.7kg I felt fat... I know it sounds stupid, but I felt like my body was exactly the same size as when I started Cohens. I would never in a million years walk past someone who was 163cm and 51.7kg and think they were fat. Yet ??

So it turns out I have a serious problem with my body/food... I'm going to try to get an appointment with my doctor today and get some advice.

On top of all of this, I skipped my last period (and no, I'm not pregnant), last one was around 10 Dec and I've never skipped one before.

I've been hanging my head in shame since last weekend and have been avoiding the forum for fear of judgement (which is stupid, because I've never felt judged on here before)...

Oh well. Hopefully the doctor will have some info/advice/something.

Anyhow:
Current weight is 53.8kg, I've lost 1.7kg over the last two days since I went back on the program.

Oh Ellabelle!

Big hugz for you!
It sounds like you are being so hard on yourself!!
It also sounds like you head is having serious issues accepting this new body of yours and still wants to play out its old programs. If you can get the head right, you'll be laughing all the way to accepting the new slim you! When you see your doctor, see if you can get a psychologist referal as that would probably be a big help for you in sorting out why you are still feeling fat even though you are really gorgeously slim!

I'm so glad you came back here for the help and support you need, cause you know you will get it here!

You will overcome those demons!!
