I've found that closer I got to goal weight and now that I've finished refed my hair is thinner and falling out more!! My dark hair looks great on the light tiles in the bathroom!!

My hair is fine but normally have lots of it so that each time I go to the hairdresser they thin it out. Well not now it's fine and flat but grows quickly!!

Guess we can't have it all ways all the time!

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! Mine fell out by the HANDFUL!!!! But I was lucky because I have loads of really thick hair anyway.. I started taking zinc & I 'think' it helped a little but I'm not sure.. I'm on day 11 of re-feed & noticed this morning that I have about half an inch of new hair growth coming through ALL over.. sticky outtie bits :P LOL.. so yeah it comes back

I have been losing hair for about 4 weeks now - it is everywhere. Like others, dark hair in a light bathroom it just a lovely sight! I should vacuum/sweep every day but I don't. I have been know to do a mad dash to the broom cupboard as someone walks up the driveway.

I did know tis could happen due to ready other stories so I was prepared, horrified but prepared.

Mine did the same thing, thought I would be bald like Mr.Pudge. I started taking Flaxseed Oil softgels which is allowed here. I can't take the fish oil makes me belch fish and that is soooo nasty.
I don't see any new growth but at least it stopped falling out.

Update - my baby was playing with my hair (pulling fairly reasonable) and I had CLUMPS falling out - I had to stop him from doing it. I actually had a comment about my hair looking like it needs a treatment but then again I haven't had it cut in months...ahh well it will grow back

Unhappy Thin on top!

My hairdresser just told me that my hair is thinning on top! I have (or had) thick hair - although I usually have it very short, she said she'd leave the top longer so I didn't look like I was going bald.

I'm knew it could happen, but wasn't really expecting it to start so far from goal weight. I feel quite dismayed - not that I don't believe it will grow back after refeed, more than I now feel like I"m really stressing my body.I seriously came back home and discussed with my husband whether I should continue. In every other way, I feel healthier than I have for years, and I have quite a bit to go, so I am continuing.

Yep mine stills falls out a bit (I am on and off program) but most of it fell out as I got to goal weight and got better through refeed. I actually changed my hair style as one side is a lot thinner than the other to cover it over a bit - its all good though as there are lots of new hairs...

LiM my hairdresser told me that when our body is lacking it's full quota of nutrients it looks to shut down some functions to conserve energy. Less than full quota is necessary if we are to lose weight, and we are eating only about half or less of full quota. Hair growth is something that isn't essential so it doesn't maintain the hair as well as it normally would. I think that is also the reason so many of us are feeling the cold more -- our warming furnace is also conserving power.

If you are concerned about stressing your body, check out this thread: http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5249. I think that you will find that most of us are better for the diet even if there is some loss of hair. I bet your body is a lot less stressed now than it was when you were 40 kgs overweight.

My hair is actually better than it's been in a long time. However, I do notice that hair on my body, e.g. legs, grows back very slowly.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

I have had quite a lot of hair loss over the past 8 weeks. Started as I got close to refeed and now about 5 weeks in maintenance is still falling. Luckily I have a lot of hair, but I have just had it cut short and can really notice the difference.
I was told that it takes the hair a couple of months to catch up with the change in diet, hence the reason it occurs with many of us as we get nearer to goal.
If that is so then I am hoping that it will start growing in again a couple of months into maintenance.

Question Hair Loss

Hi

Just wondering, for those that have finished the program, if you had major hair loss while on the program when did this stop?

I have been on maintenance for 3 weeks and my hair is still falling out by the handful, everyday.

I am getting married in 4 months and I am scared I am going to have to wear a wig or something...... I am going to have no hair left. Seriously!!

I have started taking the Blackmores hair, skin and nails.

Thanks
DC

I feel ya DC... my sister keeps commenting on how thin it is and how if i put a bobby pin in it to keep my fringe back you can see the scalp (a little hard to explain)... even my hair dresser has actually commented on it... I'm confident in the other people's experiences on this diet so I'm pretty sure it will grow back... eventually... it's gross seeing all the hair in the bathroom... who makes bathrooms white anyhow? lol

Opps sorry, I forgot I had started this thread! Thanks for the link Shell, Nelle and Lucylou I seem to think mine has become worse since I have been on Maintenance aswell. I dread washing my hair as it feels as though I am going to get out baldy!! It is literally coming out by the handful....scary!

Hope it stops soon, I have got the thinnest hair ever now....
