Well done Asy, I hope you have a great trip. I'd love to meet you over a coffee while you're down but I realise when visiting rellies etc, your time isn't always your own, anyway, enjoy the fuss and attention, you have certainly earned it.

That's just amazing. To think, no fad diets, no gimmicks, no surgery. You've dropped 70Kg in less than a year. That really is a story to tell to the world.

Congrats Asy !

There's another 20kg to go, Baloo.

THEN there'll be a story to tell!

Lauren, check your PM's.

OK, well, I'm home properly.

We got home yesterday, and we've had a fantastic time.

My daughter is the BEST travel buddy ever, she's just so cool. So easy going, so much fun, I love travelling with her. I think we need to do more of it.

We spent three days in Melbourne with my Mum, who we both adore. That's coz she's adoreable! Went out for dinner with one of my best friends, and a few other really good friends. Then went to visit another of my best friends, she's not well, and it's really great to see her occasionally. I miss them both hideously.

Then we spent three days in Adelaide with another of my best friends, Fran. She just had her second gloriously magnificent daughter in September last year, and in addition to naming her after me (well, her middle name!) she asked me to be her Godmother. So we christened her on the weekend, and partied afterward.

I have four "best friends", they're the FAB FOUR! I think it's just about Christmas when I can see all four of them within a week! (The other one lives in Brisbane and I saw her the day before we left).

My idea of a PERFECT evening would be to get ALL five of us at one dinner, as they've never all been around the same table. It'd be magic.

Anyway, I'm back. I'll try to get to a weigh in today, I'm due for a blood test.

I did really well on the trip, not one variation from the plan. I'm happy.

Yeah, ta Brie!

Ya know what's better than looking amazing?

FEELING BLOODY DANGEROUSLY FANTABULOUS!

Went for my blood test today, you know the big chair they get you to sit in? Well, when I did my first blood test my butt filled the chair. REALLY filled the chair...

Today, I sat in the chair, and put my handbag down next to me, and there was more than enough room for another hand bag on the other side.

It's so cool...

Went shopping today, bought a heap of singlets at $1.04 each (I love Target!) bought every one they had in sizes 12 and 14 in any decent colours (left the fluoro green and white ones there). Between my daughter and I we'll make good use of them all. Also bought 5 pairs of PJ's at $2.04 each. It was a good shopping trip. Oh, and, a pair of size 12 jeans for $6. Not sure if they fit me yet, but for $6 they'll fit my daughter or I!

Well, I went to the doc today for a checkup that was sorely overdue, and she's blown away by my loss.

The BEST Thing today was my Blood Pressure.

Before I started it was 160/120 and she was panicking, she asked me really really nicely to PLEEEEEEASE just lose 10% of my body weight. She said "I'm not asking you to get thin, just please lose 10% and take some of the strain off your heart..."

I gotta tellya, that scared me.

I had been to a doctor once, for a chest infection (not my normal doc, just a clinic on a weekend when everything else was shut), who took one look at me and gave me a referral to a stomach stapling centre. I got cross and told him I was just there for a CHEST INFECTION, but he wouldn't give me a script for anti's until I got on the scales for him. The nutcase is lucky he still has his front teeth...

Anyway, I trust my current doctor, and the look of fear in her eyes was palpable.

It really made me think, THIS WEIGHT IS GONNA KILL ME. I've done TOO MUCH work and put too much adoration into my kids to hand them to my ex to screw up now.

That's what made me decide to do something. The doc's non-pushy attitude was a real plus.

I had discussions with my friend Pete in Melbourne, who was doing the programme at the same time, his Mum had found out about it from somewhere and co-incidentally at around the same time Kristine wrote about the programme in the other forum some of us hang out at (a property investing one). So I was getting info on Cohens from all over the place and it really seemed to work. Also the fact that I didn't have to do excersise really nailed the deal.

Anyway, Today I had my blood pressure tested...

125/95.

I'm beside myself with glee.

It means my heart is no longer under severe stress.

It'll get back down to it's usual 120/80 soon, I know it.

Um, they fit.

I think they're a LARGE size 12, as they're lose in the waist, and I'm definately not quite a proper size 12 yet...

Getting there, though.

Oh, the other thing is, I had a blood test the other day, and it showed up a naughty.

I haven't varied the food one jot during the whole programme, but, this is what happens when you don't get 3lt of water a day!

I was in Adelaide for the 4 days prior to having my blood test and the ADL water is gosh-awful! So I was living on Sprite Zero and not much of it. A little dehydrated and too much sprite will do the naughty to you! Also I was doing a LOT more movement than usual, it was my new goddaughter's christening (I think I already mentioned that) and due to her mum's working and the baby being ill prior nothing was really organised for the Christening feast, so I ended up catering it with salads and the guys organised BBQ. It meant that on Saturday I spent the day running around shopping and cooking in the evening and on Sunday I was playing hostess re: the food. I really didn't want Fran to lift a finger, I wanted her to have a really nice day with friends and not have to do anything, and I think I accomplished that. Oh, and I had a ball, I LOVE catering.

It was really funny, I made all this food, and I couldn't eat a single bit of it. So here I was, putting HUGE tubs of salad onto the table, cutting up different breads, organising other stuff, etc, and then after it was all on the table, off I trotted to cut up some cucumber, mushroom, tomato and roast chicken for myself! hehe

Hi ASY

All I can say is WOW. I don't think INSPIRATIONAL even comes close to summing what you've achieved.

How good is Cohens? I ummed and aahhed for a few months before deciding that I really needed help. That was the hardest thing for me - to admit I couldn't do it on my own.

Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't do it sooner. I'd be that couple of months closer to my goal of 57-60kg. Like yourself I can't even begin to imagine myself at that goal weight. I reckon that I'd be pretty bloody happy to get back to about 70-75kg. Although I'm big I still like being curvy!!

A totally heart felt CONGRATULATIONS to you and everyone else.

Regards
MiniMe

Default Asy - Fish and chips story

Funny thing happened on the way home tonight.

Had to pick my Son up from Gymnastics at 6pm (well, didn't HAVE to, but they get cranky if you leave the kids there...). I'd said the kids could have Fish and Chips tonight, and had ordered them on the way to Gym, and stopped to pick them up on the way home.

Now, I usually ring and order the F&C and send one of the kids on a bike to fetch them (they're on the same street as we are, and we don't do it very often), but tonight I went into the store.

I haven't been in there since I started the programme.

The lady who owns the store came out and was shocked. She's a funny person, her english is not too hot, but she makes the best Fish and Chips for a Chinese woman. And her Daughter is at school with mine.

Aaaaaaaanyway...

She came out and said "oooh, you lost weight" I said, "Yes, thank you for noticing", she asked "How did you do it?!" (patting her stomach) I said, I stopped eating Fish and Chips (I wasn't explaining the system to her since there's no way she'd do the programme and anyway, I didn't really have time.

Then she asked "How much weight you lost? 20kg??"

I said, "Well, no, a little more than that".

She said "Nooooooo, How much? You tell me!"

I said "nearly 75kg".

She said "No, you didn't understand, Not "How much do you weigh", but "How much did you LOSE"...

I said, "Um, yes, almost 75kg. That's what I've lost. "

It was really funny, I said my goodbyes and ran outta there, for fear of getting stuck there...

Then she turned to the other woman in the shop and proceeded to explain (translate) to her what was said. She was making all the appropriate shocked sounds, but the FUNNIEST thing was when she was trying to explain what I looked like before... She held her arms around her like she was hugging an imaginary barrell, and blew her cheeks out trumpeter style and waddled up and down. It was HILLARIOUS.

Thankfully we were already getting into my car out the front, and they didn't see us roaring with laughter.

So, that was my evening. Then I came home and cooked chook and veg for me, it was yum.

Well,

Today I found my original sheet I wrote my measurements on when I started.

As most of you know, I was measuring weekly for the first 4 months, but when I got robbed and my laptop went, I lost all the data, so I stopped.

Today I measured again.

Here's the measurements:

DATE: 4/7/6 -> 27/3/7

Bust: 127 -> 103

Thigh: 93 -> 68

Hips: 160 -> 111 (Half a metre of HIPS!)

Arm: 54 -> 42

Waist: 120 -> 87

Calf: 66 -> 50

TOTAL: 620 -> 461

TOTAL LOSS: 159cm.

So, in the last (almost) 8 months, I've lost not only nearly 75kg, but, 159cm total FAT that I no longer have to drag around.

Pretty cool, eh?

asy

Thanks Jools!

And thanks Baloo for working out that I've lost 25.65% of my original circumference!!!

Well, I wanted to comment on my hair...

I always had the thickest most luscious hair ever. But now it's so thin... I think I have about 1/3 of my original volume.

I'm not sure what's causing it. Whether it's the programme, stress from my current court case, lack of vitamin (I keep forgetting to take them ), Hair dye (Only joking, I'm really a natural blonde with dark roots!), or what?

In any case, it's exceptionally annoying. It makes braids look ridiculous. I hope it bloody grows back!

Awesome Results Asy.

Hair? I find a high protien diet actually helps hair and nails. How is your nails? Maybe the lack of fat in your diet.

The primary component of hair fiber is keratin. Keratins are proteins, long chains (polymers) of amino acids. Keratin proteins form the cytoskeleton (miniature skeleton within a cell) of all epidermal cells. Keratin filaments run within a cell from the inside of the outer membrane to weave a "basket" around the nucleus of the cell. Keratins are a principle part of the cells in the epidermis, hair, nails, feathers.

Or was your long hair a phycological "mask" for your size? As you lose size is your hair getting less attention and focus?

Peter
