Good point lil_doll .

It is, I think, a kiwi brand and invention so may not have been looked at by Dr Cohen. I didn't think about that.

I understand that on the 'yoghurt' subject..it's allowed to be any yoghurt as long as it is plain natural unflavoured and less than 2% fat...but what i am interested to know is that when you say less than 2% fat..is that meaning 2grams ?

Also, this yoghurt looks yummy, it is a yoplait one, i will pop the link on so you guys can check out the nutritional information/ingredients...is this one allowed at all ?

Yoghurt must be Plain Natural (unflavoured) yoghurt, with less than 2% fat, and NO added sugar.

That's it. That's the official line. Full stop.

However, Inulin, which is an ingredient in some yoghurts (including Vaalia and Tamar Valley) is made from Chicory Root, which is specifically NOT allowed on the programme, and can affect SOME people causing them to show deviations and not lose as quickly as otherwise, so, I would suggest strongly you avoid those yoghurts with Inulin. (MY suggestion, not head office's).

So, to recap, anyone in any clinic telling you anything other than this needs to check their information with head office because they are wrong.

IF this changes, I will post updates here.

asy.
In 2008 I lived on the Tamar Valley No Fat version as it was lovely and creamy and was intending to go back onto it.

I was just wondering how one can tell if a yoghurt has the inulin or Chicory Root? Neither are listed on the ingredients of the yoghurt I was previously having, but is it a hidden nasty? I've emailed Tamar Valley specifically to ask them this question, but they haven't responded.

Should I just assume if my program worked last time and I didn't show any deviations that this yoghurt has no ill effects on me?

Sorry to be a nuisance... I just don't want to make this any harder on myself than it needs to be

Oh I have seen that inulin listed in the ingredients of a yogurt... and tamar Va hasn't got it... I have it everyday.

Don't worry, Tamar V is allowed!

oOOh thank you Lil Doll! You just made my day!!!

Who'd ever think I'd be so excited to be "allowed" a no fat yoghurt??? *laughs* I've just never found one of the <2% yoghurts that was so creamy! Thanks a bunch!

I've just received an email back from Tamar Valley (better late than never):

"Hi Lulabelle

Thank you for your patience in waiting for my email.

With regards to Inulin we do have trace amounts in our yoghurt but it is neglible and we do not have enough to make any claims.

If there is anything else you require please do not hesitate to contact me and I again thank you for your patience.

Regards

Jose Matteo
Assistant Managing Director
Tamar Valley Dairy Pty Ltd"

If the amounts of inulin are only "trace" amounts and not enough to even warrant listing on the ingredients list, does that still mean it's acceptable?

Thanks!

Mmm, Lulabelle... good question. They say this inulin doesn't affect everyone... and seeing as there isn't even enough in there to put on the ingredient list, I think when I find more, I will continue using it... I love the creamy-ness of it... The other yogurt I have been having is the yoplait one, which is 2% fat... I reckon a trace amount of inulin is better than 2% fat (compared to 0% in the Tamar Valley one).

Hmm, what do you think?

Hey Lil Doll

I have Vaalia - knew nothing about the inulin but it was the only one I liked. Found out about the inulin thing about 4 weeks in but as I was losing well (and still am) clearly doesn't affect me. Going by your losses I think you should just stick with what you have been doing too

I am so jealous of those lovely yoghurts you guys are able to get. All I can get here is the Paul's natural set low fat yoghurt and it tastes like cr*p. I have it with a little stewed apple and a few drops of liquid sugarine to make it palitable. The 'experts' say you can get used to eating anything in 12 days as that is how often your taste buds renew themselve. I don't think I could ever get used to eating that stuff straight out of the tub eww.

Gippsland Yoghurt is very delicious and has no problems with inulin. Be careful that you get the fat free one as there is only a very small difference in the packaging between the full fat and the fat free. I only made that mistake once but was enough to learn from..... lol

Hi Tish - what brand did you get from Woolies - did you check the fat content? I have checked yoghurts continually and haven't found a greek 1 yet that I can have. It seems to depend on where you are. I was using Vaillia - which is low in fat but has the inulin. It doesn't affect some people, but my weight loss speed has increased since I gave up the yoghurt. I keep wanting to try it again, but don't want to go back to the slow losses.

So sorry, tis the woolwroths bulgarian yoghurt and not greek. The fat content is 0.8g per 150g same as the one which contained inulin. Im going to alternate, 1 day egg and 1 day yoghurt. I was eating yoghurt with inulin and my weight loss was very slow. I onyl started losing again whe I had egg 3 days in a row for breakfast.
