What a day! Just finished 9 hours getting from Nth Qld to sydney, flights cancelled etc. 1.5 hour taxi cue! I had planned to eat when I got to sydney and tried to have the odd nibble on the way to quell the hunger and headache (11 hours between meals)! finally just had the good things out of a caesar salad without the dressing etc on room service - the only thing I could do on the late night room service menu without loading up on carbs. Hopefully tomorrow will be much more civilized. |

Hey Louise ... you did the best you could under those crappy circumstances .... gotta love delays and stuff at airports .. 1.5 hrs for a taxi .. how frustrating .. at least you can get more organised now you are there ... so enjoy .. and hope the presentation goes well .. and stay away from the lolly bowls ... haha

Thanks stoddy
Im pleased to report that nothing from the lolly jar has touched my lips, didnt even give it a thought, nor any of the yummy treats at afternoon tea.. however last night was the challenge, as when room service sent my tray they had a small bowl of m&ms, which I find addictive. For some reason I took them off the tray to keep in the room, then as I was putting the empty tray out the door I looked at the m&ms and put them back on the tray and said to myself "what were you thinking" buffetts for breakfast and lunch so it was easy as I could pick the suitable foods myself - not even tempted. although one of my friends at lunch tried to get me to take some dessert so she would nt be the only one indulging, so neither of us had dessert! Just about to go to a conference dinner at a steak restaurant, so hopefully there is something suitable I can choose! Louise |

You can't do the impossible, Louise, so your best will have to do. I hope that the rest of your trip provides less challenges. Well done with the M&Ms. I love them too.

Thanks AJ - I know that I couldnt have stopped with the one either.
Im very happy to have got through another conference dinner unscathed. I managed to drink water all night without anyone trying to force alcohol on me and only ate foods from the allowed groups. I even just ate the tiny bit of chopped up fruit off the creme brulee that was put in front of me and nothing else. I was asked if I didnt like it, I said I would have like it very much but I was being good - and was congratulated for my discipline, which was nice! I was amongst Drs so at least I was with people who appreciate healthy habits. I miss being able to weigh myself, but I think because I dont know how Im going I am even more vigilant to try and stick to the straight and narrow! Hoping tomorrow goes as well as today!!! Louise |

Hi Louise
You're doing so well. I'm fortunate in that I chose to to do Cohen's at this time because I don't have any trips away. I wanted as little trouble as possible. so i admire you enormously. I do have two small trips in a month or so but I'm going to take ALL my own food with me! All the best Loulou

Well Done Louise on resisting all of those temptations.
I hope you are rewarded well on the scales when you get home. |

I think you're doing very well, Louise. I don't want to go anywhere while on this diet, not even a weekend away were I can take my own food. It's so much easier if you can be in familiar surroundings and in your own kitchen.

thank you AJ, Jeannie, Lucylou for dropping by. Im on my way home at last to my own kitchen, bed, scales etc. Looking forward to getting back in routine after a very challenging time. I have roughly stayed on track but certainly not as good as when I am at home, At times the pickings were so slim for anything suitable that I as really hungry hanging out for the next meal. One day I ended up eating a twirl bar as I was starving and there was nothing else available. Anyway I wont beat myself up over it as it was that or be hungry for many more hours, until they served us out next meal. I m kind of dreading the scales when I get home, but at the same time I know that of all the people there I was the most healthy, so by comparison I was great!!

Hi Louise,
I just wanted to pop in to say "Geez, you have done so well!!" I know, we don't yet know the results, but your "self-talk" and your actions sound pretty damn good to me. Thus, I'll be looking forward to seeing you blog "great success" with the scales when you get to check them. Oh, and I loved this:- Quote:
You go girl (and "Hi" to that hubby of yours - he sounds pretty good to me) Koh

Thanks Koh and Stoddy.
I was a bit disappointed this morning I was up 100gms. I will however just consider it a little hickup on the road to success. Im not going to chage my ticker as I expect it gone tomorrow! I spent 10 hours travelling yesterday with no access to food other than airport and plane food so dinner was airline spagetti. I had to eat it I was starving and 10000 metres in the air and no decent meal all day. I know someone is going to say why didnt you take your own food, however when you are at work functions and entertainly clients etc this is not acceptable. I just quietly pick around the plate for the things that are most acceptable. Some lunches were sandwiches and quiches, where I managed to find a bit of salad garnish and some cheese off the cheese platter as the closest acceptable thing. But I have had to go way over the acceptable cheese allocation, but it was that or eat bread,so I had to make a choice. One night was a wine dinner where we had to participate in wine tastings, I took just enough to let it touch my tongue but virtually swallow nothing - so no one would realise what I was doing. Would you believe I even won a competition about one of the wines doing this and I am no expert - was pure bluff! Anyway no point complaining - such is life and today I am at home and able to control my own meals - THANK GOD! I will just go on from now. Hopefully tomorrow I will beat those scales into submission!! Louise |

PS Koh - My man is great. He met me at the airport last night and he was insistent that we had to go to the supermarket (at 10 at night) He bought mandarins and I got mushrooms so I knew I would have some for breakfast. it turned out he had got the mandarins for me so that there would be something for me as he was going home to make pancakes for him and his son and he knew I wouldnt want any and he was worried there would be nothing for me. However food was the last thing on my mind - I just wanted my bed! But very sweet of him to consider my needs!

Hi Louise
Well done. What a tough week and you've come through with flying colours. And I must thank you for your 100g, I know you're just doing it to make me feel better. I had my smallest loss this week just after we'd signed up for the 10kg challenge! This coming week, being at home and being in charge of your food, that weight is going to fall off you. x Loulou

Ha ha - nice to see that competetive spirit coming through Lucy lou!! Tomorrow is my weigh in day for the challenge so Im hoping that I get some loss overnight. Hopefully next week will be better for both of us!
It was probably not the best week to start a challenge - but as my life is full of such weeks I just have to roll with the punches and do the best I can. I spent the last 3 days in an absolutely beautiful place in the southern Highlands set in wonderful gardens and the sad things is that I didnt even get to walk the grounds as usually we would finish about 20 minutes before we had to be at dinner. I just got to walk up a path between the conference centre and the accomodation which only took 5 minutes. At least I got to look out the window at something beautiful as I was working! Louise |

I bet that 100 gms is gone by the time you read this, Louise, and probably some more as well. Much better to be in familiar surroundings while doing Cohen's. You can't do the impossible.
