Talking Daisy Chain's Personal Diary

Day 11 - Friday 18th June

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Yay, we made it through another week! Woo Hoo!

I'm looking forward to this weekend - as there is not much planned - yay! Last weekend was so busy and such a test as it was my first weekend on the program and it was really hard to be honest. I find it so much easier to stick with everything to the letter when I'm at work.

This weekend we only have an engagement party on Saturday night, but it's a drinks and finger food one so we'll eat before we go, and I can just have a diet soft drink (haven't had soft drink at all yet) and say no to nibbilies. I'm pretty confident I'll be fine with that - it's the sit down dinners at restaurants that I can't cope with. Knowing me, I'll be so busy talking and catching up with people that I won't want to nibble anyway!

So out of everything, the only thing that's really annoying me about this program is having to go to the toilet a million times a day! My goodness!! All this water! Yikes! Anyways, I guess it's all working as I still feel like a million dollars.

I have noticed a couple more changes too, I can now fit on a few dress rings that didn't fit me before and my skin is much healthier. I have also noticed that my eyes are brighter - I know that sounds stupid - but they really are!! Promise!!

I was re-reading my program again last night and realised that you can mix proteins if they are in the same group! Whoa! Excited by that little discovery that I must have glossed over! Tonights dinner was going to be a cheese treat one, so now that i know that, I think I'm going to do a baked spinach and ricotta dish that my sister told me about, and then melt some motz. onto my two crackers... mmmm... it's nice to look forward to eating something again! I think cheese is going to remain as my twice a week "something to look fwd to".

I ended up speaking to my consultant yesterday about the Curry Powder debate, she said that she personally used Clive of India when she did her program and she checked on the database for me and said that it's still fine to use that. App what we're supposed to avoid is fenugreek seads, and that's in most curries, so she said if in doubt just use Tumerick which is a similar taste.
I've decided that I'm going to give curry powder the flick, honestly, I have no idea if it will affect my weight loss or not but why take the chance? I'm not that attached to the stuff! lol

I also read the ingredients on my multi-vitamin and I think that it has added sugar, so I'm just going to scrap them too and buy the Cohen's ones. I know it's probably all small fry stuff, but why risk it when I'm sacrificing so much else?

Ok lovely people, have a wonderful Friday. Keep going!!

Thumbs up Daisy Chain's Personal Diary

Day 12 - Saturday 19th June

Recipe update for you all - another gem idea from my sister...

Last night I had baked Ricotta, spinach and veggies. Divine! Here's what I did...

Allowance of Ricotta, weighed out baby spinach, mushroom, green capsicum and a couple of slices of tomato.

Pre-heat oven to about 180 deg. Chopped up baby spinach really small and with a fork mixed it up with the ricotta. Put them into a small ramican dish and set aside. Chopped up my capsicum and mushroom.

On a dish in the over I sat the ramican on one side, then on aluminium foil I sat the other veggies next to it with a little amount of paprika salt and pepper. Let them all bake for about 20mins.

Pulled out the roasted veg into a bowl, then put the baked spinach and ricotta on top of the veg. I ate it with my two vita wheats. It was SO yummy!! One of the best meals that I've had! mmmm!!!! Try it!

Also, after that as I hadn't had my apple I decided to chop that up and try a recipe from the book we got. I put the apple into the ramican with a little bit of cinnamon and a cup of diet sprite. Popped it back in the oven covered with foil for about 20mins. Then I ate that for desert. MMMM!! yummo!

Ok guys, have a lovely day.

Unhappy Daisy Chain's Personal Diary

Day 14 - Monday 21st June

Feeling a bit flat today. I'm starting to really miss food... I feel really overwhelmed, like this jouney is going to take forever and I'm not going to get any results. I know it's stupid but that's how I feel today.

I'm sick of cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner... I'm sick of weighing and bagging and labelling my food for hours on the weekend... I'm sick of being overweight and miserable. Ugh.. I'm a bag of missery today.

I spent most of yesterday crying because we went to a family bbq and I had to keep saying no to everything! My brain understands that I have to say no because saying yes is what got me here in the first place, but geez it's hard.

I know that it'll get better but at the moment it's hard to remember that.

Oh Daisychain,
sorry to hear you are not feeling the best - i figure that i've eaten enough "bad" stuff in the past and now is the time not to eat it, it's only a short trip in the grand scale of things. 6 months compared to the last 5,10,20 years of not being in control.
I'm only 2 days behind you and know its a long journey in front of us yet but i also guess if it was too easy then it is going to be easier to slip back into old habits afterwards.
Hope you feel better soon.

Oh Daisy, I can so relate to how you feel about not wanting to deviate this early. Especially when we extremely want this change that it hurts to even think that we HAVE to deviate against our wishes!

I faced the same thing this weekend. I'm just over my first week and I still think I'm not that strong enough to sit through a dinner when everyone's eating things that I LOVE, and that I can't have any, not even a tiny spoonful. I had my husband lie for me too. I should be open about my current effort in changing my lifestyle, but last Saturday was just too soon...

And about the meltdown! I thought I was the only one...! I had it fairly easy during the first week, no headaches.. only minor rumbling of my tummy... (considering I used to eat such a HUGE portion of everything and snacks in between.. my tummy was in SHOCK!)... but whoah, nobody warned me about the emotional rollercoaster... one minute I was ecstatic seeing the scale going few hundred grams.. and the next moment I was bawling just because I was too tired when I was preparing my food ration for the week over the weekend (yes I cried over the kitchen sink, while cutting strips of chickens! pffft!) and cried about not having the courage to go for dinner outings.

I think you are doing great job Daisy! Mighty proud of you too. Better than me, you survived that RMH event AND that baby shower - deviation free!! Thanks for sharing with us your journey. I have TWO baby showers to attend this coming Saturday. I've decided that I can't be hiding from my friends all the time and will take up the invitation. I will think of you during the showers I'm sure.. especially when I feel the urge to deviate! If you can do it so can I Wish me luck!

Hi DC,

Hugs to you while you get through this time. With you now 14 days in, you must be SO CLOSE to breaking through into the sunshine - so, as others have said, do hang in there, even if it is one day at a time, or even one hour at a time.

Maybe it is time for a boost? (See the "stickies" ) Or take your measurements.... Anything that tells you "This is NOT in vain, and it WON'T take forever"..... Try on some old faves from your wardrobe !! Anything that gives your ego a boost !!

With 14 days in, I'd reckon you are already well on your way, and will be done (refeed and all) before Christmas !! The year is steaming by - and you will be AWESOME way before we see this year out I'm picking

Maybe check out the "Books of use" thread (or whatever it is called. Because, as Baloo pointed out in "gems", this journey is ~10% about weightloss, and 90% about the "head work" that goes along with the journey.

Do cut yourself some slack - allow yourself to cry, and rail against things, but, all the while, LOVE yourself for having the guts to "have a go", and give this your best shot, DC - 'cos it will PAY YOU BACK ten-fold !!!

Who knows, maybe tomorrow is the day when the clouds clear, and you hit that blessed zone - you surely are close with 14 days done and dusted

Hugs,

Koh

Still really emotional, so not going to write much atm except to say thank you all so much. You have absolutely no idea how much your beautiful msgs have helped me tonight. Going to get a very early night tonight and sleep away this sadness.

Thank you all again for taking the time to make me feel loved and supported.

Hey DC

I had a pretty down period for a few days last week, it seems like it's all pretty pointless. I felt like this journey would go forever and a day - a vast expanse of nothingness. Something ever-wise Koh told me: The next few months will pass regardless of whether you're on Cohen's. And it's true. You can do the next few months the way you normally would do everything else, or you can do it on Cohen's and notice the changes.

Trust me, the compliments will start rolling in before you know it, and the light at the end of the tunnel won't seem so far away. I really enjoy all my Cohen's meals now, and the smell of cake doesn't make me want to run away for fear of deviating!

Hang in there lovely, you'll make it through and we'll all be here cheering you on when you do!

Hi DC,

Just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone. It seems once you get past the 2 to 3 week mark its like your head catches up to you. I'm going through exactly the same thing at the moment and I've read a few other people are as well. I could of sat on the couch last night and cried for exactly the same reasons.

I love what Koh has said. Wanted to make sure you read it again

Hang in there sweet girl. Take comfort in the fact that you are not alone and it will pass.

xx

Day 15 - Tuesday 22nd June

wow... you guys are truly amazing. Honestly, I logged on here when I got home quickly and started crying again (but a good cry this time) I felt really loved and supported, but most of all, not alone.

Ed - thank you for your msg, you're so right... I'm 28 and I was a 'normal' weight my whole life until about 15yrs ago, so I've had a good time eating rubbish. Thank you for the motivation to keep going. I hope that your journey keeps going well too. xxx

Indya - we are at such a close time in our journeys, and I'm sad that you are feeling the way that I was too. I'm here for you as well and thank you for sending me all that love, you have NO idea how much it helped! xxx

Kirst, Cjaye & Jazzi - hugging you right back! Thank you.. xxx

Kuki - wow, our stories are so similar! Thank you for your words of encouragement, and I hope that I can help you though as well. I'm wishing you every luck for Saturday and I'm here if you want to de-brief afterwards too. Keep strong my darling! xxx

Koh - you are amazing. Thank you SO much for your beautiful message, it was so inspiring and a real wake up call for me to remember why I'm doing this and that I need to pick myself up and keep going. I really value and appreciate you! Thank you again. xxx

BB & Violet - thank you so much for sharing with me your journeys and experience. It really amazes me that we are going through such similar things, sometimes it feels very lonely and to know that it's 'not just you' really does help. I'm glad that I'm sticking with it and looking forward to coming out the other side of this and other people noticing too would be nice! xxx

Well I wanted to write back to everyone and say a thank you as you all helped me more than you will every probably know. I had a big cry and lots of cuddles from my hubby, then I took myself to bed with my book and got an early night. I've woken up today feeling much better again, and like I can do this. That is absolutely due to the love and support from you all.

You're all amazing. Thank you.
