Default Re: 1st Time Cohenite-Journey to my lifetime goal!

Hi Audrey

You know - and I do apologise for being so narrow-minded - it's been a little difficult for me to relate to your progress, as I've been 'mentally blocked' by the pounds vs kilograms. But I've made a bit of on effort and done some conversions - your losses have really not been that bad...taking all things into consideration (the 5-hour rule thing). I can not believe that your consultant omitted to address this with you; this should have been stressed! Are you an online or clinic client?

Either way, all is not lost, as they mention in the email that you will not be needing additional blood tests, which means that they will work out your refeed using the available results.

Don't fret, you will get there. The last 10 kilo's or so (20 pounds?) are sometimes a little stubborn, but you need to remember that it's a much smaller percentage of your new body weight. So please don't lose motivation if you find that even though you've uncovered the culprit of your seemingly slow losses; you are still not dropping the weight off as fast as you'd like. It will happen! This is still one of the fastest, but more important, healthiest diets on the market.

Have you read the various posts on the forum about plateau's? Some people get them every few weeks while others never have one. It is very encouraging to read how others have handled their plateau and know you are not alone so go digging around the forum, there is a wealth of valuable information here.

Hoping your plateau doesn't last much longer and that you have a nice drop soon.

Keep up the good work!

Louise
Hi Louise! I have been able to look around more now that I have a new computer. I was getting on the forum by phone and it wasn't the same as using a computer. I have broken through the plateau but found out my stall in weight loss was due to now having a 5 hour window between breakfast and lunch. I am making sure I am doing this and even counting 5 hours from when I am done eating and not when I began. Thanks for the encouragement!

Well done on getting past the plateau! The 5 hour rule is one of the most crucial factors of this eating plan, and it has to do with the mixing of protein. Unless you have the same protein for 2 consecutive meals (i.e. beef), you really should follow this rule. As most of us have an egg or yogurt for breakfast, I think we can assume that this is also the case with you and I think you've accurately discovered the culprit.

Good luck for the rest of it, but I think if you've safely made it through Christmas so you shouldn't have too much to be concerned about.
Hi Not2Much! My blood test confirmed this also. I am making sure that I count my 5 hours from when I am done eating my meal now. I am curious to see if the weight will really get moving now. I have lost 20 but pretty slow and over about 7 weeks. How are you doing?

Yeah it is hard for me to figure out the weight thing to. I just double the number to figure what your weight in kilos is. So you can cut mine in half to figure out pounds. I am wanting to see if I lose 13 more and if I want to begin my re-feed there or if I lose more. I don't want to do what I have seen others do and not do the re-feed even if they were so close. I am eager to begin working out and weight training again. My husband and I used to really enjoy doing that together in the evenings. I also want to take up running again.

Audree, my second time on the plan saw me have a long, long plateau, that lasted ALL the way through me being in the 60's.....it took almost as long for me to get through the 60's as it did to lose the first 23kg. i still remember the frustration, and i tried all sorts of things; changing meals around, yoghurt or dinner, reducing/increasing water......there were 100's i can't remember now, but what I am a firm believer of is that your body will move when it is ready. When it moved, then suddenly I was ready for refeed within a few weeks. And it comes down to patience, and ultimately faith in the program and in your body!!

Both times on the program resulted in a completely different journey, and this time no doubt will be different too.

Isn't it amazing how our bodies work! You are right. We need to just be patient with our bodies and as long as we know we are doing what we need to, trust that the weight will come off when our body is ready to let it go. Maybe it is just stabilizing and getting used to the major changes going on. I am trying not to weigh myself too much but it is hard because my husband gets on the scale day and night! He can tell how much he will lose by weighing himself the night before! I am trying to weigh once a week so I don't get discouraged if it doesn't move much. I think coming on to this forum will also keep us accountable. I am glad to see there are people that come on here regularly. When I first came on it didn't seem that there was a lot of activity.

Totally with the accountability. i have no clinic to be accountable to this time so it's all the forum!!

What i might add though that when my long plateau was happening, i was also losing lots of Cm's from everywhere, I think i still nearly dropped a dress size, or at least my clothes became much looser during that time, so, all was not lost. I think there was 1 fortnight that I only managed 600g....that was a hard pill to swallow and get through, but i could do nothing more about it, I wasn't cheating or deviating, so it came down to grit and determination.

I don't have a clinic and am doing the online program since iI'm in California. I all of a sudden feel like my clothes are feeling loose. Sounds like your plateau. I think we have no other choice but to just do this! The alternative is just to stay overweight which isn't an option. I want to reach my lifetime goal and finally get in the best shape I possibly can. Thank you for all your great insight and advice

I'm so encouraged by reading your diary Audree! You are doing amazingly well and congratulations on getting over the half way mark!! It's all downhill from now on!

I'm glad you have some answers from your clinic about the 5 hour rule and your blood tests and hopefully you will see even better losses now. Of course, you have been losing well already and you should never discount the hard work you have put in. This isn't only about when and how much we eat, it's also about changing our lifestyle and making this a permanent change which you are doing already. Go you!

Keep up the good work! It won't be long and you'll be doing refeed!

Louise

It took like I broke my Plateau!!! I lost 1 pound yesterday and another today... I'm so excited I'm hoping that I can reach my goal in the next 3 weeks. My husband is done and reached his goal plus two extra pounds. He is starting refeed tomorrow!

It's been really nice doing the program together and having each other for support.

Thanks for visiting my diary yes the plateau was hard to deal with but I mixed thinges up and stopped having my after breakfast fruit and after dinner fruit. I'm only having after lunch fruit and crackers. This got the weight moving again! I'm feeling really goof and when I look in the mirror it's crazy to see that I look "thin". I don't feel it yet, mentally I guess it takes time. I'm 150 pounds now, so that's 75 kgs?? Or so...when do you start your program?
