lived in scotland and uk for 2.5 years ( what a sh*t hole) anyway - not bitter me
in terms of yoghurt - cant remember specifics but Aldi is really big there so you should have some luck
if not - Tesco's a bit more expensive but a huge range ( it is called the shop that ate britain, you could live your whol;e life shopping through T, they have everything including banking, insurance, phones etc)

HI Alley,

try Gippsland fat free yoghurt. Available in both Woolies and Coles. Has a good taste but not the fruit ones. Also be careful as the label of the 'normal' and the fat free are very similar - it should have fat free written above the name on the left hand side.

Thanks
Shanara

Shanara,

I think it was clarified as trace amounts and not reportable according to AUS standards. I am sure if you are sensitive to inulin it may still cause problems, but it hasn't been listed as not allowed yet I don't think.

Hi Connie,

I was told that inulin is not allowed, might be worth getting confirmation on this one.

Faithy,

I meant the Yoghurt in question had not been listed as not allowed - Inulin is definately not allowed - but the jury is out on whether non reportable amounts are significant ...... I personally would avoid it and err on the side of caution.

Hi Connie,

I have just gone on the post that Asy made on page one of this thread:

Quote:
OK...

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL LINE...

Directly from the good Dr himself.

If clinics are telling you anything different to this, please ask them to check with head office because... THEY ARE WRONG.

Yoghurt must be Plain Natural (unflavoured) yoghurt, with less than 2% fat, and NO added sugar.

That's it. That's the official line. Full stop.

However, Inulin, which is an ingredient in some yoghurts (including Vaalia and Tamar Valley) is made from Chicory Root, which is specifically NOT allowed on the programme, and can affect SOME people causing them to show deviations and not lose as quickly as otherwise, so, I would suggest strongly you avoid those yoghurts with Inulin. (MY suggestion, not head office's).

So, to recap, anyone in any clinic telling you anything other than this needs to check their information with head office because they are wrong.

IF this changes, I will post updates here.

asy.
I have stayed away from Tamar Valley due to this and also I find the Gippsland quite yummy and no issues about inulin - i hope.

Guess with Tamar Valley it has trace elements only - up to each of us but i am erring on the side of caution.

Shanara

(Perhaps a bit off topic so please feel free to move this if you want too)

I have discovered I have a very bad reaction to inulin.. I was having vaalia, which I know is a no no.. anyway for the past couple of years I have had the odd night here and there where I've woken up with the most shocking night sweats.. Doctors did all these tests and couldn't find what it was.. but agreed in the end that I was having a reaction to something I was eating.. after much trial and error etc etc I have discovered it only happens when I eat yoghurt with inulin.. I do understand everyone is not the same, and possibly I am the odd ball here.. but quite interesting I thought..

Hi everyone, i did cohens programme 2 years ago, and ate Vaalia yoghurt every morning 175grams of it. I lost all my weight !! no problems at all. In
fact, i still like to have it over summer for breakfast with fruit. I cant understand what the problem is and I see no problem with eating it.

Well Josie
if you read the previous posts you would see the problem- some people are lucky( like you) and don't react to inulin
others are not and that is why the warning is out there
what if you had used it and had problems and weren't warned- you might have been a little upset eh
better warned, better safe
better to follow the program and clinic advice
