Hello Justakiwig
I have logged back into this forum for the first time since I was last on which was about a year ago and your diary was the first one I read ... this has inspired me to create a new diary for myself and also motivate me to get my act together. Last year I re started my Cohen's journey with a new programme (about 5yrs ago I lost almost 20kgs), I have 25-30kgs to lose and reading your entries has defentaly inspired me. I have sent in a request to have my diary created and I look forward to recording my journey just like you.
I plan on starting next week (have a function on this weekend) so I'm clearing out the fridge, getting a shopping list together and mentally getting my head into the zone. Not only that, I'm in the process of getting my husband on board with me - getting the support and educating him. He brings all the crappy food in the house 😩
Hope you drop into my diary when I get it started next week and enjoy reading it as I have yours
Congrats on your 20kgs - KazB xxx

Hi

My skins dry, hairs dry and eczema is getting worse while we are forced to drink the poisonous chc water - and still the Chinese are taking billions of litres of pure water while we suffer??? I don’t get it. The bathroom smells like a pool, the water from the tap has to be boiled twice and it still tastes revolting - I wish we had a council that actually knows what it’s doing, our chlorine levels were tested recently and came back as the same level and intervals as a council swimming pool - which is disturbing, on a positive note my sons a plumber so this weekend I’m going to get him to put filters on all our taps cause I just can’t take this rubbish anymore.

Friday - and didn’t come soon enough!!! Yippee

Hi all

It’s literally freezing here, it’s not a nice freezing either it’s a OMG I can’t feel my fingers or toes and I’m still in bed type freezing.

Anyways this is going to be the norm for the next few months so will try to stretch out the whinging to cover the whole winter months. On the Cohen’s side I had my lovely pizza today - heaven pure heaven. I’m so thankful that this programme doesn’t include physical activity because I would of failed big time.

Im on course and still very motivated to continue this with everything I’ve got - maybe need to layer up a bit more lol

Hi Just,

I'm in Brisbane, and tonight I am in TWO jumpers !! The nights and early mornings here have been a bit "up and down" recently, temperature-wise.

Some lovely days, but the nights are getting pretty cold (for Brisbane). We seemed to have a late Summer, not much Autumn, and here we are just days from entering Winter, and yep - it is starting to feel wintry.

But "bring it on" 'cos every day from here will bring us into Spring once more. Unlike you, I don't have the "I'm in bed and it's still freezing" thing here - though I do recall those days from my youth in Wanganui !! I also recall kicking the puddles of water by the roadside as I walked to school - to crack the ice that forms overnight.

Anyway, layer away Just - whatever gets you through to Spring and onward !!

Hi

Brisbane 😍 was the first place I went by myself overseas and experienced homeless people - this was 25yrs ago but I’d never realised it was an issue (cause I was naive) - to be fair though I love love love Melbourne and could see myself living there in my 20s/30s - not anymore though I’m happy in nz, petrol is beyond a joke price-wise, housing is hilariously out of reach and it’s getting harder to live but I love nz. I’ve travelled quite expensively around the world and the site of an air nz plane when I was coming home always bought a tear to my eye!

On the Cohen’s side I’m glad there’s no alcohol allowed, I went out early this morning (7ish) and saw people doing their walk of shame in hardly any clothes lol (which is the norm nowadays) a man throwing up in the gutter and a man asleep halfway in a bush lol - goodbye to those days lol

Hope everyone has a brilliant week ahead

Just

Hi

I stepped on the medieval torture device this morning and have met another goal - <130 and I’m stoked with that. I’m not updating my official ticker until Wednesday though as that’s my weigh in day.

I weigh every few days to keep the motivation going. The 120s have traditionally been hard for me to get out of - but I will just keep doing what I’m doing and hope my body will continue to play ball -

I swear I could feel my water freezing as it went down my throat this morning OMG it’s a whole 2 degrees now yippee!!

Wrap up warm everyone - next challlenge for me - <120

Hi Just,
Don't get too comfy in your "warm" climate.... 2 degrees !!

I noticed you are one who likes to weigh more often (to me, there's no harm in that, so long as it is not harming you to do it - some people can't handle "no loss" days or even weeks without going right off the rails).

Now Just, I also know you have been spending time having a good look around in here, so you might be already familiar with AJ's chart. She recorded her weight daily on a spreadsheet just for her own information - a bit like a science experiment. The really good thing is what it shows:-

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...660#post343660

The link takes you to my "classics", so read that post, then click the link that shows AJ's chart. Once there, click on the thumbnail attached at the bottom of AJ's post and it opens up into a viewable chart. If you look carefully at that "straight line", you will see where some weeks she lost NO weight, and yet, from a distance, that straight line down appears untroubled.

You might have already seen this Just - I expect so, as you seem quite untroubled re "weighing regularly" - but I add it here for others reading your diary too - maybe some of them can do with the fillip !!

Rock on young lady,

Koh

Hi

AJs spreadsheet covers everything lol and I mean everything. Unfortunately I have nothing like that in fact this is my reminder/record of events. I have mini goals and challenges written down in a notebook but nothing like that spreadsheet lol.

The effort and detail is amazing and I particularly notice the food is very repetitive but it works. I notice after refeed it was up down up down but I guess that’s life - once the leash is loosened it’s probably more about portion control but that’s a long way off for me yet.

It’s not as cold today and my water intake is up as of yesterday. I’m not sure why on the weekends I struggle to drink 2L but during the week it’s easy as? Psychological I guess at home I’m lazy at work I concentrate way more but that’s what the weekend is for - a sloth like existence it’s the one thing I like about winter, it’s so cold and rainy I don’t mind staying in my dressing gown all day haha -

Hope everyone’s had a great start to the week - bring on tomorrow my official week 10 weigh in and week 11 start

Just

Hi

Weekly weigh in done and left the 130s yussss - gotta keep the momentum going downwards. Yesterday I was quite hungry, not sure why but I had an apple at morning tea and that seemed to smash the hunger pangs, maybe I didn’t time my breakfast right but it was weird.

I started reading shanaras diary last night and it was interesting reading particularly when she freaked out about the goal weight bit!!! It rings so true cause I was also shocked at the goal weight. 64kgs seems so unrealistic but that’s the goal and I’m going to go for it, I’ve seen people get really hungry about 7kgs our from goal weight and whilst I’m usually a very calm person, that might change getting closer to goal weight. Basically when my body is screaming at me to eat I’m going to ask for my refeed. ‘Ask’ is a bit tame lol I’m going to tell them to order my refeed. I still have more than my goal weight to lose lol but that cracks me up, doesn’t intimidate me at all - bring it I say!!!!

I will get as close as possible and 100% legit try to get to 64kgs - but I’m going to listen to my body and do what it tells me (further down the line).

I also read asys post on what happens to your body if you deviate - and its a lot!!! The body is a complex beast and I really encourage people to read it - brilliant

Rugging up warm today - starting with a whole degree - that’s right a whole ONE yippee

Have a great day everyone!!

That's the "Getting back on the Bus" one, isn't it - I saw your comment. For others reading, click this link:-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7521

Yes, it was a popular story as it really got into "what really happens" in the body. And the writer does make the whole thing pretty emotive eh? At times I wondered if it was about a bus or a car, but I think the original story might've just "grown" - perhaps from two versions of the same thing. As you said, though, it is well worth reading.

And Shanara's Diary has a wealth of information in it. You remind me a lot of her, Just - same determination, no excuses, no quarter given, she knew what needed to be done and just did it. I recall her latter days were difficult - I hope you can glean some useful information from her musings over a whole range of subjects. Especially in her leadup to Refeed where she struggled - but won out in the end !!!

I had the real privilege of having lunch with Shanara, and it lives in my memory today. She is one very special lass indeed - her writing gives some hints of her depth of character.

But after the "real hunger" comes refeed

I can remember the feeling of going from "just a little on my plate" compared to the family to this "over flowing" plate and I couldn't believe that I was allowed to eat it all.

This was for me a golden moment - a realisation that the hard work had been worth it - a moment to saviour and to enjoy.

If the determination and commitment is there - you will also feel and enjoy the achievement.

Hi

I can’t wait to get to refeed but don’t want to get too far of myself cause it’s um disheartening?? No distracting is a better word - at this stage it will take quite a lot to dishearten me, I’ve had a couple weeks where I’ve lost under a kilo but am not worried at all - as long as I’m losing I don’t worry about how much - not yet anyways lol I’m sure at one point it will really squash my nana.

Today is the last day of the month and the one day where I literally work hardout from the time I get into work to the second I leave. The nature of my work is I pay million dollar invoices today so I have to concentrate - it’s like being in a pressure cooker sometimes lol and I can’t just reach for a muffin and coffee like everyone else - my alarm goes off for lunch and I’ve got to stop so I can enjoy my sautéed mushrooms and steak lol - it’s such a hard life sometimes lol

Hi Just,
Keep a smile on your face even through these tough times - and if you want to know just how well you have done in these last two months or so, go to the local supermarket and pick up a couple of bags of cat litter (10Kgs each) then walk to the end of the aisle with them - then back again and drop 'em.

Then smile - 'cos you have already shed MORE than that amount, and will do the same again by end July (or early August). If you enjoyed putting those bags down, think how good it will feel then, with two more gone !!!

You are doing fab, girl !! Keep giving that Seratonin Fairy a good reason to stick around....

Thanks Koh - my body is craving sugar (monthly) and it’s so close to winning lol OMG I would of thought those cravings would of gone but I guess it’s just another obstacle to overcome.

I literally slept in today got up at 9am and ate breakfast at 9.30 which means all my meals are pushed back a couple hours - I had the best sleep though I think I’m mentally exhausted it’s trying to rain outside, very icy and I have the next 5 days off yippee

Not going anywhere or doing anything special it’s a staycation and a well deserved one

Hi Just,
Another thing that can affect things too is being cold. We generate most of our body heat by digesting food - so if it is a cold day, we WANT to eat more.

Perhaps consider doing the meal swap thingy - perhaps have Meal 2 for Breaky, and meal 3 for lunch. I know it only leaves a small Meal 1 for evening, but hey, that is when you are about to snuggle in for anotehr great sleep.

Meanwhile, your body heat remains on maximum through the DAY !!

Waddaya reckon?

Hi

Good idea - I’m going to try that tomorrow - too late today I’m almost ready for lunch which I could swap out for dinner hmmmmm - it’s drizzling here and I’ve washed all my clothes at home then off to the laundromat for the drying - I had a dryer but my son use to dry one pair of jeans at a time so I got rid of that cause the price of electricity is heinous.

There is a place in chc where u can get free artisan well water and that is where I’ve been going to get my drinking water it’s so lovely and fresh but it was on the news lately and now the 2 people waiting to fill up containers has turned into 200 but it’s ok I don’t mind what hour of the day I go cause it’s free running - this is the water our council is letting a Chinese group take, bottle and sell back to us while we drink chlorinated poison - but we won’t go there

Hope everyone else is having a great long weekend

Hi

Queens birthday today so another free day off work yippee!!! A list of queens honours which I think is an archaic practice but those who get them love it ‘yawn’ and surprisingly enough the lead story in nz is Barnaby Joyce??!??? Now that I don’t get?

Our immigration policy is changing, tourists are going to get charged double the rate of locals to walk our great walk and it’s flooding up north - just a typical day in nz. I’m pretty sure that somewhere along the line there’s another crash on another Auckland road that’s blocking up the highways AGAIN, that’s all that ever happens in nz - doom and gloom. It’s another reason why I like to stay in my cohens bubble and watch the world go by - temporarily of course. I’ve started planning an overseas trip for next year - and I always plan a trip in a trip so a stop over or 3. I’ve flown to Europe a few times and the flight time is soul destroying so I try to skip over. As in from here to Singapore is 10hrs and stop for a couple days or from here to Bali about the same and stop for a couple days - I’ve been to Singapore a few times so I might stop in America this time enroute to Madrid - that’s the plan so far anyways - here to San Fran, San Fran to Vegas, Vegas to Washington, then Washington to London then London to Madrid where I will be doing a trip around Spain.

I’ve been to Spain twice and only ever done the east coast from costa del sol to Barcelona haven’t been inland at all but that’s he plan!!!!

Can’t wait - it’s my big reward to myself!!!! I love planning trips

Hi

So according to the metservice we are expecting snow flurries down to sea level that will probably happen in the middle of the night and be gone by the time I wake up lol - I’m actually on leave for a couple days but there’s no chance of falling off the wagon cause my alarms are set for food time. Did the fortnightly shop and weigh and am sorted for the next couple weeks. If only credit card debt was so easy to pull off. My plan is to pay off the cards then start saving for my trip next year.

I have a friends wedding in April next year and the brides family owns a vineyard lol muahahaha - the wedding is going to be held there and I can’t wait to get stuck into that wine - it’s another reason/goal why I have to finish in 12mths - so I can enjoy the real food, CAKE and a couple glasses of yummy wine and CAKE!!!!

It’s a long way off - but eye on the prize
