Well, haven't been for a weigh in for a week and a half, might go tomorrow arvo.

Have found a few balls of the wool I'm currently knitting with (and running out of!) at a shop in Indooroopilly, so I might go over there tomorrow and drop in on Sue on the way home.

I'm stressed to the max at the moment, not sure what that's going to do to my weight loss, but it can't be helping. I'm off the water, and generally not doing much.

Still, we have a new puppy, and he's really great fun! I'll post a photo of him here for you all to oooh and aaah at! His name is Oliver, he's named after Oliver Wood. (Extra points for the first person who can tell me who that is!)

Hey asy, he's cute.

Try not to stress, I know it's easy for me to say but try and maybe listen to a cd for stress just to keep your mind off your court case. Maybe go have a massage or something like that. Musnt be far away now?

Asy
Your dedication and commitment to the process is incredible and I'm sure you feel so proud of yourself with what you have accomplished. It's hard in times of severe stress to cope in constructive ways and not revert back to old habits. You are doing an amazing job with your health and being a great role model to your children. Good luck and don't forget to breath!

Cheers
Amanda

Um, yeah, well, knickers, you weren't supposed to notice that!!!

Lucky I didn't post when I went to bed last night, it was nearer 4.30...

I know I'm naughty, but I'm stressed to the max, and at least I'm not drowning my sorrows in a bucket of ice cream and bag of chips..

Well, I did it. I've hit my next goal. Mind you it's only on my home scales, not the clinic ones, but they're brand new uber-accurate scales, so hell, I'll take it as right...

I'm now 82.8kg. That means I've (wait for it...) lost... more than 50% of my starting weight.

That's right.

I now weigh less than HALF what I did when I started out.

I'm thrilled.

Went shopping yesterday, I had a gift voucher for David Jones to spend. I couldn't decide what to get, but I knew I wanted something special that I'd have for a long time. I decided to get a nice jacket. Luckilly my Mum's here from Melbourne at the moment so she came with me, she's so cool and groovy and really good for shopping for clothes with (having been a wedding dress designer and ladies tailor). I found a gorgeous light avocado green suede jacket that I just loved. Of course Mum took one look and said "That's not sewn properly, get another one". There was another in my size (that one had the neckline sewn quite crooked, trust her to notice!). I fit into a size 10, but bought a 14, because I like a jacket loose so I can wear knitwear under it. Also, I have a problem in that my arms are quite long, and size 10's never have long enough sleeves... Anyway, it's just gorgeous and I'm thrilled.

My daughter's got a concert on Saturday with the Australian Youth Choir, it's her first concert as part of the Recital Choir, which is really special, so we've got a big group of aunties and uncles etc (there are 9 of us!) going. I'll see if I can get a photo of my new jacket for ya! hehe

Anyway, that's my news.

I'M HUNGRY!!!

Oh my gosh, can anyone tell me which trees are the nicest, coz I gotta tellya I'm ready to gnaw the bark off some of them.

Used to be I could easilly go 3 hours between meals, even 5 hours, if I forgot to snack. No worries whatsoever. Now, I eat and about an hour later, I'm STARVING.

Had a long chat with Sue, from the clinic, yesterday, and, I expounded a theory I have.

Theoretically, I have 5kg more to lose, but, I can't see ANY fat on my body anywhere. There's loose skin, not much of it, mind you, but there is some. It's not hanging like you'd expect after losing nearly 85kg, but, it's there, most certainly. I believe I've probably got close to 5kg of loose skin hanging around. There's quite a bit still on my arms, some on my tummy and a bit on my butt. There's also some on my legs. Not as much as you'd expect, though, as I said.

My theory was, that, while I'm supposed to end up at roughly 76kg, being my body weight without fat, I maintain that there's been no allowance made for flabby skin.

I believe this is a particular problem for people who have lost (or need to lose) huge amounts of weight, like, over 60kg-ish.

Anyway, after this discussion, we've decided to order my refeed next week. I'll go another week on the programme, which should see me at about 80kg, then I'll start the refeed.

I *should* lose 2-3kg during the refeed, which should put me around 77-78kg.

Then, over the next 12-24 months, I should tone up that loose skin, which will shrink it, and thus loose the weight associated with the extra skin, which should put me around the 75kg by the time my shrinking stops.

I'm thrilled.

Bring on refeed.

I WANT A CUP OF TEA!!!

Oh, and, I dropped in to the clinic today for a weigh in, and, looked in their full length mirror. I was shocked. I didn't realise I was quite that skinny. I don't have a mirror at home (yeah, I know, I should get one, but oh well) and so I don't really look at myself properly very often. I had on a pair of (loose) size 12 pants and gosh my legs were so skinny I was surprised.

You are probably right about the loose skin thing. It has to weigh something. Everything else does.
So COOL you get to start refeed....Congrats to you and good job.
I hope I can get there as fast.....

Dear Asy,
Congratulations on a wonderful achievement!!!
You must be so proud of yourself!! I think you need a lovely mirror so you can remind yourself of such a great effort. You can do anything you set your mind to.
Your consultant sounds like a wise and sensible woman as do you.
Thanks for the inspiration.

hi asy, i reckon your theory is probably correct, no allowance would have been made for the loose skin on someone who's lost 85kg!

what an awesome job you've done.

when people were telling me that you still lose weight during refeed i never believed them. I recall Kristine saying that she didn't lose any weight during refeed, but I've lost almost one kg during the last 6 days...it really is incredible.

can't wait to see your photos!!!

My theory is a bit different, I think we (the ex-obese) may have some fat that is simply resistant to any type of diet. You may have 5KG of fat and skin left that could be lost, yet diet (ie low insulin levels) just will not get that fat to metabolise!

So my advise is simply to get your refeed organized, take Cohen day by day, then when you have enough, stay on it another 3 days, then start the refeed!

2 months after completing I have noticed some mild improvements to problem areas. So if you keep a moderate level of Carb intake after the diet I am sure you will see moderate improvement.

Your cuppa (with milk) is waiting for you in just a few more weeks
