Hey Louise

Fruit!!!!!!!!! I bought some apples, just bog standard apples, $10.20 for afew in a bag. I thought the guy must have had his hand resting on the scales. As it turns out they don't seem particularly ripe..........Oranges are all coming from USA. I have had some yummo peaches and nectarines lately. Winter is coming..........then what on earth are we going to do? Luckily I still have a stash of mangoes in the freezer all weighed and ready to eat.

Your walk sounds lovely, glad you enjoyed it. I bet the overtaking made you grin from ear to ear.

Take care pretty lady

Jo

Hey Louise - those hill walks sound magnificent, good on you getting up and doing them before work. Re fruit - I experimented this week and bought nectarines that were still a bti hard then stewed them to have with yoghurt - pretty yummy but wish I'd had sprite to stew them in for a bit of extra sweetness - am becoming quite adept at stewing (enjoy stewed apples with morning yoghurt too!!) Anyway - hope you find some decent fruit soon.

Cheers - Kay.

Boy did I do well with the bargains today! I got 1 jacket, 1 skirt and 2 very nice knitted tops for a total of $20 - yep $20!!! I checked the original labels and it was originally $180. I had told myself that I did not need any more clothes, but how could I resist those prices. I tell you everytime I say no more shopping , they just drop the prices even lower! I dont think they can go any lower than this though. I even tried on the jacket when it was $90, lucky I didnt succumb then!

Well it sounds like noone is having any more luck with the fruit than me, just making do with whats available. Hopefully something nice will come into season soon.

Honeybuns. lovely to hear form you. Dedee and I were missing you at our little chat yesterday!

Mette, it would be fun to all get together. It is nice to be able to meet some other cohenites as I travel.

Jo I have a stash of mangoes in the freezer too, but they are the RSD@ variety which I am not particularly fond of. The peaches we are getting up here have been a little sad of late, but I have been making so with them. when I was overtaking others and they were commenting on my speed I thought "if only you knew".

Kay it seems like there is a lot of stewing going on everywhere- I would say that is an indication of the calibre of the fruit! Wish me luck on getting up early again tomorrow to do the walk- would be nice to get the blood pumping before doing a 4 hour drive home!

thank you everyone for your ongoing support, you guys are just the best!!!

Louise, you must be the bargain Queen, at the right place at the right time!

Wish I could find jackets for that price!!! Skirts can still stay in the shop, but need tops too!

Yep, it is definitely a lot easier getting around when you are 20 to 30kgs lighter! Even more so being 50kgs lighter! Makes me seriously wonder how I ever managed to get around in the first place!! Bet my knees and feet are seriously thanking me now, as are yours!!

Vee the funny thing is that I was only going to buy the 1 top for $6, when I got to the counter I found out it was a 2 for 1 sale so then I went back to find a second thing, while I was there I found the jacket and top on the 2 for $15 stand. I was in the shopping centre doing my appointments and this took gaps between 3 appointments as I would say just hang on to these while I run to my next appointment, then Ill be back to try them on etc! Eventually I walked out with 4 things and only $20 less, and they werent crap, they were all really nice!

I just dashed out to the supermarket to grab some fruit before the supermarket closed. Might I say I do actually really enjoy walking and when I do it I always say why dont I do this more often. I think it is so easy to get so focussed on tasks, that we overlook the simple pleasures. When I go hiking on my holidays I am just in heavan and really feel that my body is doing what it was intended for - I really must try to do this more often. The trouble is I get a bit bored just doing the same walk over and over, I need beautiful things to look at while I walk. I just love walking amongst nice gardens and getting ideas or through the bush etc! anyway I am raving.

I really enjoy walking too, Louise, but just waiting for my thighs to stop rubbing together, lol!!
Seriously though, I find I'm walking a lot less now that I've had my son. He isn't fond of the stroller, always wants to walk/run himself, and it makes it difficult when My Walk consists of a lot of zig zagging and stopping and starting. Hard to get a rhythm, you know?

I am going to make time to go on my own, just have to persuade hubby to spend half an hour watching the child.

You are so so so right! It is so important to appreciate the simple pleasures in life! Maybe you and hubby can go for drives to new places where you can take walks so you don't do the same walk every day?
I wish I had your knack for finding bargains like that!

HOme again - My heart sank when I got home to find that once more nothing had been done in my absence - I really struggle to know what more I can say or do to fix the situation.

Nice thought mette, but I can get my bf to accompany me on walks, his work is quite physical and going for a walk is the last thing on his mind when he gets home - he just wants to put his feet up! It is probably something that stops me going as often as I would like because I always feel like I am desserting him when I go for a walk. My work takes me into shopping centres everyday and I often have time to fill in while I wait for my appointment time, so I have a lot of time to look and find bargains.

Yeti, sounds like you and I both need to make a bit of time for ourselves to go for more walks, Im sure we would both feel the better for it.

Hi Louise,
Can you get up a bit earlier in the morning and go for your walk?
I find it really refreshing and peaceful that time of the day.
It is also the best time to burn fat as you have been fasting all night and are carbo depleted, therefore not having to burn the sugars from carbs first, before you tap into your fat stores.
So it is a double bonus!

Have a great weekend.

I would love to do that Shell but I struggle to get out of bed in the morning, I did do it once this week and believe me that was quite an achievement for me, I was very proud of myself!

Hey Louise

You are truly the bargain queen

Get that scrawny rear of yours down here and take me shopping!!!!!!!

I really must start walking, but I have notice that if I walk I get the hungries and now is not the time to tempt fate. 5kg to go............my mango supply just might hold out for that long (fingers crossed). I have been cooking with nectarines and peaches..............yummo. I used to get up early and take the dog for a walk but since Cohen's I am having trouble getting up early anyway and the dog is getting fatter by the minute. Bring on refeed. I can clip on the mp3 player and go exploring, never the same route twice,I like to upset the dog

Take care honey, sorry that nothing got done while you were away, men!!!!!

Hi Louise, I thought I would pop in and say hi since we are hanging out in refeed land together. I have often read your diary and you are a real champion with this refeed business!! Hope eventually you can say I'm finished, but I do like your thoughts that our lives beyond refeed should be like we are on it anyways.

Will be awesome if you get to met my Aunty Rosemary (RosemaryFNQ) she is doing so well. I can't wait to see her. Your support for her is great

Hi guys, thought I would make a quick entry before racing off to do some chores. All is going well. I think I will officially restart refeed tomorrow. I have been kind of following a prolonged version of it and to be honest I think I have almost established a healthy maintenance philosophy of eating in the process. I think I would get a bit anxious if I stepped too far ouside the guidelines. I dont want to follow that Oprah pattern of reaching goal for 1 day then ballooning. I am going to go over my refeed guidelines again tonight. I am not going to start at day one as I have been beyond that for a while, I may start halfway through, I will decide after reading it again.

Peace is currently reigning on the home front although more gentel nudging is definitely required. We have just been out for a nice brunch together, I got a couple more bargains yesterday, including a $10 bikini. All my togs seem to be black or dark brown and I got a set that was white on the bottom and green and white on top. I have been taking zinc for a fair while as it is good for healthy hair, nails and skin. I really dont have a skin shrinkage problem, though I wold still like to tone up a bit more on my stomache area, which I have already begun. I thought I would just make mention for anyone reading as I know so many are concerned about skin shrinking after losing. No I dont have the body of a 20 year old but for a 48 year, Im pretty happy.

Jo you are probably wise to put off too much exercise until refeed, though maybe just a 10 minute walk now and then would make both you and the dog feel better, and yes I continue to do well with the bargains. Actually wearing some nice size 8 knee length shorts right now that I got yesterday for $14. The thing I am most happy about is that they sit low on my hips and I have no overhang - unlike in my prediet days!

Lovely to hear from you Jenny, Im sure Rosemary and I will manage to get together soon, now that the rains are settling. I am trying to learn from others experience on maintenance and process with caution. I hope your refeed is going well!

Must go and do something productive. Hugs to all!!!!

Hi Louise you have motivated me. Buying all your bargains just made me realise I can still play a little with fashion whilst waiting for refeed. I am so needing clothes and as much as I have tried to be inspired at the op shop (a great one next door to my work) I havent found anything.

Whistles on the white bikini!
Also for a 48 year old you look hot to trot. Your comment sank home to me about not expecting to look 30 when I am 40 this year.

Anyhow thanks for posting as always. Its great to see you guys travelling well in refeed!

Well today is the day I recommence refeed. I havent yet decided which day to begin as I didnt reread the program last night - I was so tired from a big afternoon in the garden. But very happy to have mowed and hedged and pruned everything and got it looking good after all the rain - it was nice to have some sunshine.
I will work out refeed tonight, but not too concerned as I have just had my usual yoghurt for breakfast and will have my normal lunch, will work out dinner when I get home.

Maria , good luck with the bargain hunting! With the bargains in the shops at the moment, you can get new clothes for prices very close to the bargain shops and sometimes I think better - like my great buys last week! I think it is easy to have unrealistic expectations about our bodies - we are surounded by so many messages and pictures in the media. One of my aims of losing weight was to look fabulous at 50 - getting closer all the time! and I think that losing weight is a huge step in that direction. It hit me yesterday that I am now virtually 2/3 the size I was when I started losing weight - that is awesome to contemplate!

Well best go and do wome work.

have a great day everyone!

Hi hon,

Good luck with Re-feed proper! I'm sure you'll blitz it, and probably find there's almost too much food. I wish I had a green thumb - I can't seem to keep a pot of herbs alive...

Congrats on recommencing refeed, Louise! I'm glad you've had some practice for the maintenance lifestyle, as that is the most important part of this journey, I reckon. Maintaining our weight at a healthy level.

I hope finishing the refeed goes well and that the tricky adding in of amounts goes well and fits in with your travels!

You have done a fantastic job coming this far and achieving the body you deserve!

Glad to hear the rain has eased off at last and that you are able to get into your gardening again!

Have a great refeed week!

Vee

Welcome back to refeed land Louise , looks like you will finish before me after all .

I am starting to get the hang of this shopping thing. The other day I went shopping and they gave me $40 in vouchers. Then they emailed me another $15. So I went back today and bought some great trousers, 2 tops and some exercise pants for $44!!!!!!!! Not as good as you but I am getting there.

I bet your garden looked like a jungle after all this rain. Rain + sunshine = crazy mad plant growth. Sounds like you have it all under control.

Take care

Jo

Hi Louise

Good luck with your second go at refeed. Like you say you've been doing it anyway in a maintenance kind of way.

I must also remember that my 49 year old body will never look 20 years old! Mind you I was surprised to see a friend's 17 year old daughter in her bikini recently and although she's not at all fat her stomach and midriff were pudgy and dimpled. Isn't it funny but it made me feel sooooo much better!
x
