It's great that you weren't interested in the snacks after your deviation Win win!! There seem to be so many opportunities to snack at this time of the year too. I was totally surprised at work yesterday when my bully boss produced some mini cheesecakes for staff!! Totally unlike her to make something for her "team" but there you go, just another temptation

Sorry to hear your friend is leaving, I know it can just make you feel more isolated in a bleak work environment. I really do hope things improve for you.

Here's hoping you have a temptation free day and good vibes all around!

Thanks, Louise. Yes, I am still amazed that I am not interested in snacks after my weekend. I have even stopped noting when I am given sweets throughout the day - it still happens all the time, but I just regift them posthaste.

Today was OK, I had M1 for lunch and it was too small for my afternoon. I was hungry, but I worked thru it and had a nice hot dinner when I got home.

Did my holiday cards (couldn't find one address so that will have to wait for a reply). I am not sending any packages - I just do not feel like it this year. I will be seeing some family to give things in person, but otherwise cards only.

Clothes fitting nicely.

Peckish tonight, but will be bathing and going to bed soon. TOM is here - a little early, but better than late.

You sound so organised Michelle! I haven't done cards for years and honestly can't be bothered with packages either. Most of my family are not in the same country as I am and it was costly to send packages to them and more often than not, I wouldn't even get anything in return. Not that that's the reason one sends packages but I'm sure you understand. My daughter in the UK is a different story though and I have sent a few packages but we discovered quite quickly that it's good to buy on Ebay and just get the parcel delivered to her address. So, she will often choose what she wants for a gift and I will pay or if it's not an Ebay type item I send her money through paypal. At least that way she gets exactly what she wants.

It's interesting how you talk about being cold and coming home to a hot meal - I haven't had a cold Christmas yet although I would like at least one white Christmas (like the movies, lol). Instead, we have hot weather and are making plans for being outdoors, at the beach or picnic in a park - bbq's and other summery fun! I'm not a fan of cold weather so am really enjoying the heat at the moment.

Anyway, hope you've had a lovely day with no temptations

Louise

Thanks, Louise. I love being on this journey with you. You are so thoughtful in both senses of the word, and I am grateful.

I am not always organised, but I really enjoy sending cards to loved ones. I keep my list quite short - only people I know will appreciate the effort.

Yes, eBay is wonderful for making gift-giving easier. I am like you and often prefer to let my family pick their own gifts, unless I know I have found the perfect thing. The year we did Kiva gifts was the best. You can just keep re-giving the gift for years.

I do love a white Christmas! But I am going to northern California this year, so while it will be chilly, there will be no snow. I hope you get to experience a snowy 25th one day.

But for now, as I sit here, I am jealous of the heat you have at this time of year. I am feeling the cold more than years past.

I was able to move my ticker a little this morning. Yay.

As I mentioned in your diary, today I got up later than usual so my meal timing was off. Long story short, I ended up having two M1s today - cheese and yogurt. I am OK with this as I just wasn't hungry and kinda turned off of meat. I am also tired, My period is heavier than usual and I have had a long day - I just need a bath and to crawl into bed.

I have to say another benefit of the plan is how much more limber my body is. I remember when I was at my most unhealthy that my body was sooooo stiff in the mornings that I would have to sit down to put on my socks. I would be unable to touch my toes on arising. I took the time to appreciate this this morning as I did my yoga.

OK, lemme go get ready for my bath.

It's interesting that you said you had 2 meal 1's today - cheese and yoghurt. My plan allows for cheese as a meal 2 option as well which helps when meals are closer together than 5 hours apart. I don't think it's bad to have 2 of a particular meal in one day either (apart from when you first do Cohen's and need to be strict unlike now when we are not first timers). I totally understand the being turned off meat too - I go through times like that and I consider myself a big meat eater! In general though - I've been off chicken for a long time and rarely have it.

Don't you just love a soak in a bath?! I find it so relaxing and I'm sure you must too. There's nothing better to warm you through to the bone either - especially when you are having such cold days.

Yay for being more limber and enjoying your morning yoga What a great start to your day! I hope the rest of your day has gone as well and that it's been a good one all round.

In the words of Tigger - TTFN

Hi Louise, yes, there is nothing like a good soak to warm up the body and loosen the muscles.

It has been another long day. I didn't get to have lunch until 16:30. But it was not unpleasant, surprisingly. So I will not be having my M1 dinner. I have to work in the morning (I hope it won't be too long) so sleep trumps staying up to eat.

I am finally under 70 - have not been there since summer 2015 - another 600 g to Goal 2! I did a little dance this AM. I will make it a goal to never see 70kg again.

I forgot to mention yesterday that there is one temptation that I had yesterday. The area I live in is famous for peanuts and there is a guy who sells his freshly roasted harvest in front of the station a few times a year. I have been a very, very good customer over the years. His peanuts are unsalted and just perfectly roasted. I had to walk by without buying anything last night and I really wanted to cry. Haha. Next year.

Off to read your diary, Louise.

Heading home from work. It was not a bad day. The provided an expensive bento box, but I just gave mine away. It was exactly the kind of meal that I would normally enjoy - very high calorie, filled with lots of different side dishes and proteins and things I do not normally cook at home. But I am so over those meals now bc they just set me up for a blood sugar crash and the ensuing hunger. I went back to my office after the meeting ended and was able to concentrate enough to get a nice head-start on my busy upcoming week. Eating well has so many benefits aside from weight loss. I do wish I could just eat what I like with impunity like many of my colleagues, but my body will just not have it.

Anyway, a little closer to goal 2 this morning. Yay.

And a little closer to my vacation.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

What thrilling news to find in your diary today even though you wrote it 2 days ago!! Well done on being under 70!! You're a 60's girl now

Well done on giving away your bento box! That was a huge thing you did! So much temptation in that box but you showed you're stronger than that! You are awesome!! Well done! And another well done for getting a head start on your upcoming week! I hate leaving things until the next day when they can be done today and I'm sure that by getting a head start on your week will have reduced your work stress too.

I hope you've had a relaxing weekend and that next week is way better than you could hope for!

Keep up the good work xx

I can always depend on you for encouragement, Louise, and I love it!

The scale did some very surprising moving this weekend. I am really chuffed. May the long plateaus be a thing of the past.

Still at work. Just had yet another late lunch - delish stirfry - the chicken marinated in spices for about 4 days- with crisp asparagus and chewy shiitake mushrooms. I love it when my meals turn out perfect (to me).

I have just got some unexpected free time in my schedule so I am going to chill for a bit and then get back to work.

I spent some time reading and watching videos about the perils of carbs this weekend. I am not convinced that they are bad for everyone, but they certainly are for me. And the insane thing is that even with all the knowledge I now have about their effect on the brain and body, I still find myself missing them sometimes.

OK, lemme go do some work. Maybe I will be able to take a quick walk around the block before I have my next meeting.

Oh my goodness Michelle!! You're getting so close to your goal! That's brilliant! All your hard work and resisting temptations is paying off big time!

Don't you just love those unexpected free moments?! It's like a mini vacation in the middle of the day. I hope you get lots more

Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks, Louise..

I am tired - heading home after a long day. I can't wait to get into the tub. But I need to stop at the store to pick up some protein for lunch tomorrow and Thursday and then cook those meals. I have already had M2 and M3 so dinner will be small (yogurt, maybe?) even though I am very hungry.

OMG, this AM, a coworker brought me two special scones he picked up at a nice bakery near his house. You better believe I smelled them - they smelled soooo good - but I didn't take a bite. I just realized I left them on my desk - I should have given them away earlier but it is funny that they became invisible as the day went on. They were not calling my name like Sirens. Haha.

Anyway, nothing to report, really. Weight stable. Going to check your diary, Louise.

Wow Michelle! Not being haunted by those yummy scones all day! That's a huge milestone

Hopefully your hungries yesterday will result in a decent loss on the scales for you soon.

Hope you have a good day at work xx

Hi Louise! I gave the scones away as soon as I got to work - I know they were delicious and appreciated, which gives me a different kind of pleasure from eating them.

My weight was up a little this AM, as I said in your diary, but I am not too bothered and not adjusting my ticker. Hungry again today but that is bc I had M1 for lunch which is not enough to keep me going. Just had dinner - even though I wanted to just wolf it down, by force of habit now, I eat much more slowly than I did pre-plan.

It is so nice to be home early-ish this evening. Going to try to be in bed in 9:30. I want a nice long sleep.

Having a bit of BM trouble - which might explain the weight. Might have to take something.

Catch you in the morrow.

I love the way our focus on food changes as we do cohen's. Before this, I could easily scoff a meal without realising/taking note of what I was eating but now it's like every mouthful needs to be savoured! I like that you also said you eat much more slowly now. I guess in a way it's eating mindfully - being aware of each mouthful.

I'm glad you had an early-ish night for a change. A decent sleep should also help with your weight loss <3

How do you manage to drink your water when the weather is so cold? I don't enjoy water at the best of times but at least when it's hot like it is now it's not such a problem. I can't imagine trying to drink water when it's freezing outside!

Hi Louise! You are right about cold water being kinda unpleasant when it is freezing. And it is freezing today. I drink very weak hot herbal teas all day long (about I carry a big Thermos) - at least 2.5 liters a day. And I buy a liter of pure water that I drink at room temp at work as the air is so dry from the heat.

Weight holding steady.

Hungry and ready for dinner. Heading home now. Looking forward to some peppermint tea and an omelet and an apple.

There is an interesting article about weight loss and the differences in people's experiences in the NYT. I haven't finished reading it, but here is a link:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/12/he...alth&te=1&_r=0

Fascinating. The subject will always interest me - I have a vested interest.

Thanks for the link to the article. It does make an interesting read! I have always thought there is more to being fat than just overeating and this article seems to indicate that there may be other factors involved.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if weight was never an issue, not for health reasons or because society says we should be a certain size? There is just so much emphasis on one's weight these days. I suppose the good thing is that there is so much to learn about weight and healthy eating but we need to keep an open mind too because there seems to be a lot of conflicting opinions out there

Do you have any time off over Christmas or will you be working though?

Hope your day is going well.

Louise

Hi Louise! Glad you enjoyed the article. Yep, there are as many factors that contribute to being fat as there are responses to being fat. Some people are "overweight" and perfectly fit, but some bodies, like mine, respond badly to weight gain with high BP, blood sugar woes, blah, blah. It would be so nice to not have it be an issue, as you say.

I am leaving next Friday to spend time with family in California - the northern part, where it is chilly. I am really looking forward to it. I hope to maintain while I am away - I still plan to post here as this helps to keep me centered on eating well.

Weight was down a little this AM - about 200g, but I am holding off on adjusting my ticker till tomorrow. I was not hungry this morning, but I am ver ready now for my M1 dinner. I think it will be cheese and mushrooms as that will warm up these freezing bones. It is really cold and windy tonight. Still on the train but my stop is coming up.

Looking forward to a really leisurely morning with TV and catching up with friends. Yay.

Hi Michelle

How was your weekend? I hope you managed to have some leisure time with friends and really take it easy in front of the TV There's nothing quite like snuggling up in front of the TV and binge watching the shows you follow!

Last week at work before you go away for Christmas - I hope it's a good one that restores your faith in humanity. After all the trouble you've had at work it would be nice to have a Christmas miracle or two

xx

Hi again, Louise. I did spend some time catching up with friends on the phone and in front of the TV, all the while multi-tasking as I did lots of chores and prepped my vacation and for the work week. So not quite the relaxing weekend i had wished for, but grateful...

I started doing a longer, more strenuous yoga DVD in the mornings and it makes me feel soooo good. But I think it is also stalling my weight loss (muscle-building? holding water?). But I do not mind, as I feel smaller, even though I only lost 200g last week. I would love to reach Goal 3 before Friday as I am only 400g away, but the body will do what it will do.

And yes, I would love a Christmas miracle! Thank you! From your lips to Universe's ear. I wish you two or three miracles too, Louise!

Catch you my tomorrow!

Chuffed to see the scales move this AM. I am on a quick break at work so thought I would post now in case I cannot later. My body is looking less flabby, so I do not mind the slower losses if I get to keep muscle tone. Later.
