Too much of one type of food!
So I have been on the program for 9 days - weighed myself after the first week- just as a little boost and I had lost an amazing 5.8kg. Just out of curiosity - is there such a thing as eating too much of one type of food? Such as too much spinach, asparagus or Zucchini? Don’t want to fall into bad habits early. Also - to mix things up a bit I recently made my own chicken burgers - using premium grade minced chicken breast, adding fresh basil and garlic and they tasted delicious. Thanks Jandy |

Re: Too much of one type of food!
Hi Jandy,
What a fantastic result for your first week. If there is such as thing as eating too much of one type of food then I am in trouble. My staple vege is mushrooms, I love them, they are easy to prepare. I do try and mix it up, but honestly, not that much. I pretty much stick to mushrooms, lettuce, cucumber, capsicum, courgette, tomato, celery and fresh herbs. It has worked for me so far, and I am of the "if it aint broke dont fix it" kind of thinking. I am sure others will have more opinions to offer on this topic. One thing I am pretty certain of though is that we are not allowed to buy ANY minced meat products. If you want minced meat you can mince it yourself in a food processor/mincer. 'Premium' minced meats are still likely to have fat in them. I have frequently made a minced mix by just putting cubed meat and veges and herbs/spices in the processor for a few seconds and it has made wonderful patties/meatballs. I look forward to following your journey. Andrea |

Re: Too much of one type of food!
Hi Andrea,
Thank you for the advice, my chicken mince was a breast minced by the butcher in front of me, so I think I am clear on that one. Fingers crossed my Spinach consumption doesnt come back to bite me! LOL |

Jandy
First congratulations on your excellent first week! If you saw the breast being minced, that is fine. Anything on program is fine to eat in the recommended quantities - I went through phases of eating the same thing all the time and had no problems - but it is good to try to get some variety to ensure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals from your food (so I made vege soups and sauces out of the veges I didn't like eating on their own). Here is another thread which may assist you also: http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9808 cheers jlou |

Re: Too much of one type of food!
Hi Jandy,
Congratulations on your first week - great losses! I am no diff to Andrea and jlou and find myself sticking to my favourite foods. From and practical point of view it is really hard to shop for too much variety as you run the risk of fresh food going bad before you get round to eating it. If I buy a bunch of spinach or 1/2 a cauli it takes a few days to get through anyway. My clinic warns against boredom, but if i stop fancying something i just move on to something different. Im loving red meat these days and have found contrary to some that have suffered hair loss on cohens, my hair is thickening up - im only guessing but iron levels can influence hair loss so im giving the red meat im eating the credit! All the best on your journey, and if its allowed and it tastes good - eat it. Andi |

Re: Too much of one type of food!
The foods are pretty restrictive for sure, but different combinations keep it interesting for me. I love fresh basil and black pepper, so when one thing gets a little boring, the next meal, in go the flavours. YUM.
I am also slightly addicted to yoghurt and fresh mango served in a fancy bowl for dinner. |

Re: Too much of one type of food!
Hi All,
Thank you for your advice and support its great to feel "loved". Prior to Cohens I hated red meat the thuoght of it, smell, taste etc turned me off - but thats the biggest change apart from the weight loss I have noticed is that I am eating more red meat then I have in my whole life. Fresh yoghurt and Stewed apples are my fav for breakfast - nom nom nom. Thanks all Jandy |
