Re: SOME EXTRAS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON PROGRAM
I would just like to say that a small amount of natural vinegar, brown rice or natural apple both allowed on the program mixed with your water is a very healthy drink.
About 20mls of natural apple vinegar with 500mls water before a meal. The vinegar (a light acid) mixes with your strong hydrochloric stomach acids forming a buffering compound that helps with our bodies maintaining pH levels important when we are burning fats that result in acid "ash". There are scientific studies particularly in Japan that show that drinking diluted natural vinegar helps you with losing weight and general health. However general medical opinion would be that is quackery, ie it probably doesn't hurt but probably doesn't work.

Re: SOME EXTRAS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON PROGRAM
I have also heard that vinegar in water is good to drink to help with weight loss. I tried it once and it was terrible!

Re: SOME EXTRAS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON PROGRAM
I used to have apple cider vinegar and honey (NOT allowed on Cohen's - the honey that is!) as a really refreshing drink in summer. About 1Tablespoon of each in 1litre of cold water - mix the honey in a little bit of hot water first so that it dissolves. Very good for you and VERY refreshing! you can change the amounts to taste.
DRINK AFTER FINISHING COHENS

Re: SOME EXTRAS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON PROGRAM
Thanks for that BS.
Some questions for you: 1. What's a Cohen newletter? Is that somehting your clinic does? 2. I can I assume you are on the Aussie Prgram 3. I was told Vegie Salt was bad by my clinic? I didn't understand why. 4. Salt. I also note we are supposed to limit out salt intake? What limit means I dont know. Anyone have an idea of what is too much? 5. Tempeh? Really. This is much nicer than tofu. Are you sure? 6. Mushrooms. I assumed all varities are the same? 7. Picked Mushrooms. Hard to tell what they pickly them in but noted. Thanks, Peter |

I can recommend the cloudy unfiltered organic type of cider vinegar.

Hi Peter Yes I'm on the aussie program. The Canberra clinic sends out a fortnightly newletter, with any new info, recipes, inspirational stuff etc. Tempeh - yes, the info I posted was a direct cut and paste from the newletter. I've got tofu on my menu, only had it once and found it to be too "light". Not satisfying. Never tried tempeh, but if you say it's nicer I'll give it a go. Salt - reasonable amounts I was told, I have about 10 good grinds of sea salt on 2 meals a day. Vegie salt - don't know about this, although it may have additives I guess, there are lots of products on the market. Mushies - all varieties fresh Pickled mushies - well the thought doesn't turn me on .

Re: SOME EXTRAS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON PROGRAM
Baloo and Jools, peri peri is an "african birdseye chilli" according to the label on the sauce bottle. It is a "fiery blend of sun-ripened lemons, spices, african birdseye chillis and garlic". It also lists white vinegar, sunflower oil (3%) and some other spices. Very spicy, available in extra mild-extra hot and found in the sauce aisle at the supermarket. I got mine from Coles here in town. The hot is just that, HOT, so a little will go a long way. Enjoy
Lauren

Peri peri sauce - no no
Regarding the peri peri that was mentioned - the advise that I have recieved from my clinic is that the sauce is not allowed. It is the actually perri perri berry that we can eat (it's like chilli) but not the sauce you can get from the supermarket.
Which is a bugger cos I love the stuff and have some in my cupboard. Cheers Amanda |

Re: SOME EXTRAS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON PROGRAM
A snippet from latest newsletter.
Pickled Onions Pickled onions are allowed on your Programs only if there is NO SUGAR ADDED or NO OIL or NOT HEAVILY SALTED! Read labels as most jars contain sugar. If you cannot buy them without sugar, then the only alternative is to make your own! Remember that only 2 tablespoons per day allowance applies to these onions as well. Peri Peri This is a condiment, ground dried chillies. It is allowed in limited amounts, the sauce is not allowed on your Program. BROCCOLI – you may wonder why this nice veggie is not permitted on your Program. It stimulates insulin! GINGER – allowed on the Program but in small amounts. Can increase appetite!

Re: SOME EXTRAS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON PROGRAM
Yes, the previous newsletter was very misleading and I had been enjoying Peri Peri sauce with everything. When it said "condiment" I assumed sauce. They should have said it was a spice instead. Damn - another thing to go in the bin. Does anyone know where you can get pickled onions not in sugar - I thought the addition of sugar was part of the pickling process?!

Re: SOME EXTRAS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON PROGRAM
So no Brocolli hey. I always wondered why it was banned.
The science of this diet is amazing. Lots ask me how it works but I simply direct them to this site and try to give general details. I think the greatest ingrediant is the decison to say "enough is enough." For instance: Yesterday I made creamy mushroom soup (from fresh forest mushrooms) with home baked bread for wife and child. I love to cook and I enjoyed seeing here eat it with relish but I dont need to eat it myself anymore. I am reformed, Peter |
