This is awful, I hope everyone down there is okay? I will be donating money, and hopefully blood as well - even though it says not to while on Cohens.

Hello everyone from christchurch
Well........... here we go again
Christchurch is a big mess and most of you will be able to see it on TV etc.
We live in an area very badly affected by the sept. earthquake and today we got off relatively well - we have a lot of broken vases, mirrors, pictures etc. One of our bathrooms is now in cracked down the centre. Our house has just been assessed from the last earthquake with it due to be rebuilt at some stage so just more damage for us.
However the centre of christchurch is a different story. The cohens clinic is on Manchester street - which is one of the worst hit streets. I saw damage to the block the clinic is on on TV today which could indicate damage to the building.
It was very frightening today because everyone was awake and active.
Lets hope all trapped are rescued soon

Hi all,

Well this 6.3 earthquake has packed quite a punch !! Closer to the surface, and closer to Chch than the 7.x that hit in September 2010.

Good wishes to all in that area - I heard today from my Sis - she and Mum are OK, so many thanks for that. I am happy about that, but feel for those less fortunate - and there may be quite a number of those...

My thoughts are with you all,
Koh

Just to let you all know Kokko and her family are safe, but the have lost their home and are staying with family.

It is very sad watching the disaster in a place we called home for so long - we are due to go back in 3 weeks, but not so sure now.

Christchurch we are thinking of you all xxx

And anyone wanting to donate for the Earthquake can do so via our Red Cross:

https://www.redcross.org.au/Donation...eDonations.asp

or at branches of the Commonwealth Bank

Your family and friends (and you, if you are in maintenance) can also donate blood or plasma (if you ordinarily donate blood, plasma can be donated more often so it is worth asking). Supplies will be needed so if you can't afford to give money, stick out your arm if you medically can

Will certainly start doing some baking/cooking when I have water - but it is too precious to use on cleaning utensils at the moment. Am just thankful for a roof over our head and electricity - so many people here are completely unaware of the devastation as they have no power and therefore cannot see the pictures we are seeing on tv.

If someone can tell me whether I can boil what water is left in our pool, and if that would be safe to be used for doing dishes then I might be able to start right away.

Andrea

I would imagine it would be fine for washing, Im not so sure for drinking as depending what sort of pool you have it might be a bit salty. The native birds and anilmal in my area come and drink mine, its probably cleaner than the stagnant water in the billabong.
